General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 3 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Chuchy07 ryunosuke hello--I'm so sorry you guys have also been affected. if you're comfortable doing so I would advise disputing the chargeback or at least waiting a few days before deciding to refund since there may be a good case against these chargebacks if enough evidence can be gathered and clearly communicated to Paypal!

mai aa yeah, Sheller was also at the time offering on another one of my characters but sent payment via an eCheck (the first transaction was not an echeck) so I'm probably going to be hit twice once that eCheck clears as well. I had already asked them to cancel the eCheck as I don't accept those and Paypal doesn't seem to allow me to reject receiving an eCheck on my end.

if it might be helpful to others I can try starting a thread for evidence to dispute these chargebacks--if anyone checking this PSA thread has experience in putting those together in a way that Paypal reps find useful, I would appreciate any guidance!

Also hit by Jodora/Sheller </3

Out nearly $50 and it seems they did it through their credit card company so its going to take a while to dispute, thanks Jodora.

Also hit by Jodora/Sheller

Out about $150. I refunded everything before they could charge me back (because I was afraid of being charged back) but I still have a $30 pending payment that I can't cancel or refund yet because they used a echeck to send it to me. I did not ask them to send me an echeck and they didn't say anything to me about sending the payment as an echeck. They just sent it.

They have a vgen account: https://vgen.co/Jodora

also hit by jodora/sheller (on vgen specifically), babies first chargeback lol

it was only a 17$ comm but before they paid for this one they were gonna get something of more substantial value (around 50$) but thankfully they cancelled...hopefully this gets sorted x_x

you guys should definitely provide evidence in the dispute field on paypal, i know paypal has its reputation for favoring the chargebackers over the sellers but recently ive heard more and more that as long as you provide enough evidence that paypal will rule in your favor so it seems like theyre fixing that.

especially if they dont have any evidence to counteract it, since they claim it was an unauthorised transaction (i think?) you can provide proof of them willfully going through the purchase.

hey anyone hit by jodora i would recommend making a thread or google doc collecting all evidence. ive seen this happen before but it took way too long for people to do so and by then the user already ran away scott free. also take screenshots of your transactions and evidence youve sent them your art/oc.

this is very serious and regardless of reason they are stealing peoples money.

edit: also be careful with echecks there is a high risk of being scammed that way lol

for everyone who has been hit by sheller/jodora, i believe there's a way to turn off being open to receiving echecks on paypal, but i think only from business accounts or something... it'd be worthy to look around to see how true this is (since i got this info secondhand a long time ago, and i haven't used paypal in ages) to prevent future scams, since this isn't the first time ive seen the echeck method being used to scam people out of money :( im so sorry for everyone who got hit, hopefully with enough evidence y'all can get the dispute in your favor or at least make it back quickly

Elissinia They actually ended up responding immediately-- within 5 minutes of me asking for a refund so I got jumpscared T_T But you're 1000% right that I should stay firm, I just needed to hear it out loud probs to slap myself into actually keep pushing-- I've messaged them back and steeling myself for the rest of the interaction o(-< Thank you!!!!

So, I'm posting here for advice because I'm not sure it's even worth the admin's time or if there's a work around. I will not be doing any sort of PSA(It's...literally just, not PSA-worthy.)

But, today I was looking at the ownership perms for one of my OCs and noticed something kind of peculiar on the global permissions. There was mentions of the character being part of a closed species. However, while this OC has an old CS design, she no longer is part of that CS and hasn't been since before the existence of the ToS(I didn't agree to the ToS and have no idea when it was added other than probably after). Now, putting aside the fact I don't want associated with the CS or its owner due to personal/proffessional reasons, I think it's weird to retroactively apply a CS ToS to a character that's not part of the CS.

My gut says to ask a friend that's probably in the same boat about why the ToS is global instead of on only members of the CS. But, I'm second guessing myself.

a) Back in December, I designed a character for someone during a Secret Santa exchange; at first they seem to be happy about it, but then I went back to view the design one more time and it's just... gone? From both of my art and designs tab?? What's going on????

b) Does anybody know what happened to the user cosmical? I offered on their latest adopt they uploaded back in December but it's been rolling tumbleweeds ever since :/
