General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 7 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Hey...I have a question that's been burning for a while. And finally decided to ask.

So, I recently got one of my designs back. I initially tried to buy the character back for the same price I was paid(it was in game currency). They declined because they were only looking for USD. I've had in every iteration of my tos to not sell my designs for USD if you did not buy in USD, with the exception of if there is art paid for in USD. This character only had the initial ref, which was made on a base. And I reminded them about the rule. They have access to all versions of my tos, which all include the rule.

Now...they ended up returning the character. Which was honestly unexpected? I admit I was kinda miffed to begin with that the character was up for trade in the first place, because they were part of a ship we were developing. I wasn't informed. Anyways, back on topic. They sent the character back and left a 'you're welcome' that...kinda felt passive-aggressive. This wouldn't have came across that way, except for their message on the return. That being that if I were to no longer want the character, I would have to give them back.

I wasn't even trying to get them to give me back the character for free. I was content just to leave it be, since they said no to my offer to buy back at the original price. What bothers me is adding their own term. We didn't discuss any rules they wanna tack on. And we certainly didn't discuss them giving the character back.

I have no plans of getting rid of the character and have since revamped them. But, I'm stuck in a pickle. Because what if I do decide I no longer want the character? Like...as the creator, I should still be able to trade/sell them. But, as someone who got the character via gift I also shouldn't because I got the character back for free.

The whole situation just...makes me feel kinda irritated and disappointed, seeing as I saw this person as a friend for the longest time. I also can't help but feel that my feelings are in the wrong here.

How best should I handle a situation like this in the future? And how do I deal with the problem of how to deal with trading the character if I end up no longer wanting her in the future?

That's what I figured. I just wasn't sure.

Honestly, that means the person stepped way over the line. Not sure how to go about letting them know they can't hold up saying I can't trade my own design. But having it confirmed that their adding a rule to my design probs doesn't hold weight gives me a lot of relief.

I've never posted in this thread before, but I feel kind of worried about an ongoing situation revolving around a badge that I commissioned.

Back at the beginning of December last year, I paid $80 for a large style of badge that was described as having movable parts; the cost of shipping was said to be included in the price. Initial communication with the artist was fine and we spoke over Telegram, and the art for the badge itself was actually done in less than two days. But since then, there's been a lack of communication over when it's being shipped and was already supposed to be shipped. I commissioned the badge on the 5th and it was done by the 7th, and was told that it would be either be printed that day or the next.

This didn't happen and I requested an update a little over a week later since I'm supposed to be given a tracking number, then I was asked by the artist if shipping it in early January would be fine. I agreed to this and heard from them on January 11th and was again told that I'd be receiving an update either that night or the next day. This also didn't happen, but I patiently waited to see if they would update me sometime later though an update never came. Fast forward to February 25th, I messaged them asking for an update to be told that they'd lost my address. I was kind of annoyed that they never said anything about misplacing my address but remained polite and gave it to them.

And again, I was now told on the 25th that my badge would be 'shipped tomorrow' yet my most recent message to them remains unread (despite them being active daily), and I haven't received a tracking number or anything. I know that I've technically received the art for it, but what I paid for was a complex badge that I haven't gotten still. The lack of communication from the artist also just has me feeling anxious, and I'm not sure what to do. Is me being anxious about this justified?

Rikki I did pay via a PayPal invoice, which is also why I was kind of confused about them losing my address.

I've just never written a PSA before, but do suppose that it's warranted in this case and will look into this soon.
Sucks since I do quite like the art itself, but the communication has just been horrible and I have no clue why shipping it has taken this long.

And I could PM you the artist then, if you'd like?
