General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 22 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

Underoos that's a very long time to wait! It's DEFINITELY worth making a PSA, but I'd let the artist first know that you're taking action. If they don't do anything about it, post a PSA. Would you mind messaging me the artists name? i've been looking to commission someone for a while so I would like to know who not to commission. But that's too long to wait, you can make a baby in that time. Have you tried refunding through paypal or is it too late? Sorry you had this happen to you!

amernoir - I will pm you their name shortly! And I can't chargeback with paypal because it's been well over 180 days and I would feel awful if they got a 20$ chargeback fee over it.. I've only chargeback'd one person before and I still regret it : \ Also can't call my bank up because the bank account was closed due to an unforeseen circumstance. So I'm quite literally just stuck..

hexie - thanks for your response! I've decided if I don't receive that wip within 2 weeks that I'll contact the artist and tell them I'm writing a PSA (like amernoir suggested) then post a bulletin here as a small PSA maybe? I don't wanna clutter service reviews with it unless they just outright don't do the work. As I said, I adore their art and they're a very sweet person I just.. idk man, I've waited quite a while and they just don't seem to care at all.

Underoos I'd like to know the name as well. And to add on: while I know the standard is to expect the artist to give you a TOS upfront or somewhere readily visible before you commit to an order, I would suggest always asking for the artist's TOS first if you can't find it, so you can skim the terms and check for anything that isn't the usual practice in other TOS, especially regarding refunds/cancellations.

But hindsight is always perfect, so no more of that. At the very least, that would be moreso general advice going forward.

As a note, they can't enforce a "no refund" clause if the work isn't done, so that line in the TOS has no meaning in the current situation. You can't keep the money if you don't do the work and say that's your right just because you wrote it somewhere--that's just fraud and a personal TOS will never supersede actual laws where there is conflict between the terms. With the main exception being the client explicitly acknowledging and agreeing to the presented terms.

In any case, the artist is entirely in the wrong, no matter what they claim regarding your "agreement" to the TOS you never saw. Please do write a PSA, even if they deliver the work, because the process of business in an art commission is just as important as the final result.

I'm keeping everyone's suggestions in mind! I'm just worried if I write a PSA before I receive my product, or without notifying the artist, that they won't deliver the work at all   So I'm trying to see how I could play this smart.

I'll note everyone the name though!

I also have another person who is a friend that I commissioned who has waited 9 months to deliver an art product despite my constant reminders (and the fact that it was supposed to be completed within a week), and then said they just dont wanna do it.. but they keep pushing off my refund despite making hundreds of dollars on adoptables. It's so frustrating and at this point a few bad apples make me wanna stop commissioning people entirely..

Underoos could you also give me the name? That's definitely too long of a wait for a commission. I'm sorry this happened to you (and all the others in their backlog)!

Lotor Took me while find Caipoco old PSA in TH BUT it's DELETED now.

Here old and dead link: https://toyhou.se/~forums/5867.service-reviews/48180.psa-caipoco-scamming-doxxing-threats-

Found it from this Journal: https://www.deviantart.com/lily-draws/journal/Blacklist-713739048

Maybe ask them about it, if their active? Didn't check if their active or not.

MoonLotus-Hime Lotor - I actually have an entire archive of the Caipoco PSA because I was the one who originally wrote it, but due to a lot of mental instability at the time (I could explain more later) I deleted it since I felt bad for chargebacking them. I still kept the archives in case they ever did anything again. If you guys want it, it's here.

To clarify in a new comment: Yes, Caipoco threatened to DC my computer and doxx me. They were accused of art theft by Lily-Draws on DeviantART a day or two after I paid them for an adoptable, so I got scared since they refused to give my adopt file or read my notes despite being online, responding to comments, and arguing with people. So I issued a chargeback immediately (some people suggested I do it since they weren't gonna respond and when I asked publicly for a refund, they TORE INTO ME and whatnot.. and I was just too mentally unstable at the time to actually deal with it in a civil manner) - long story short yes I did file a police report for the doxxing threats but nothing was done about it.

I felt bad for chargebacking them plus I was SUPER unstable at the time due to meds, and due to paranoia on my meds.. I thought that my computer issues I had (technical issues such as bluescreening before my charger broke) was them actually sending someone to DC my computer since the times were coincidental. It was me being paranoid and irrational, people called me out for it rightfully so, and I removed ALL the PSAs I ever made during a mental breakdown.. but at least I was smart and archived them all in case these people did something in the future. I'm glad I did.

MoonLotus-Hime

Underoos Aaahhh. That seriously scary. I'd hope they just threatening/buffing about the doxxing. And suck they haven't even done aything about it too. Sorry have suffer so much and doing more PSA about it.:/  And thank you linking your old PSA again on them.ovob Tho shouldn't feel bad about the chargeback, it wasn't even your fault from the start.

Just hope everything work out at the end.

Lotor And aaahhh. Alrighty! I tried.X>

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN VIEWING DEVIANTART!!!!!!!!!!!

Some dude just spammed me with 33 comments of page-long flashing lights and he knows I'm epileptic. He's purposefully doing it on all the popular deviations on DeviantART's homepage to induce seizures in epileptic people.

When I told him to stop since I'm epileptic, he came to my page and started spamming me.

His username is yawtawsoldier13 so please block and report him. Be safe.

Dude I can't even report all the comments or remove them because I go numb trying to remove them and report them as spam
