The New AI "Artists" PSA Thread

I've seen an ai artist before, but they were on Scratch, and weren't getting much attention. Since Scratch is a kid's site it's not like they were scamming anyone with ai art or anything like that, but I do feel it's worth mentioning some of the things I noticed to spot a (pretty basic) ai artist.

• Changing art styles. So many of the images they posted had varying art styles, they flipped between semi-realism to this sort of cartoonish angular look to an almost painted simplistic form. They were all similar, but not nearly similar enough to pass as having been made by the same person.
• There were no signs of this person having been an artist previously- their old scratch projects were badly made games with minimal art at all, mainly use of the shape tools to make a blocky looking stickman or things like that. To go from there to "drawing" cats in such a way as what was shown, EXTREMELY doubtful.
• General quirks of ai art. Ai isn't that great at doing things like hands- there are often big mistakes involving those. This person was mainly showing cats, but I could notice things like legs or tails morphing/blending into the ground, or distinction between details and features being unclear. One one of them, the cat was sitting with its tail curled around its feet, and the end of the tail had toes- it went from being a tail to being the cat's foot.
• This may not be something you can check on sites here like toyhouse, but I hit the See Inside button on Scratch to view the project. When I went to the costumes menu, I could see the file names on the images, and they clearly indicated these images were downloaded from an ai generator. I don't remember the exact ai that it was, but based on file names you can easily tell.
• In addition to file names: This person was claiming that they used procreate to draw these, as well as either krita or kleki or some other program- But as someone who uses procreate, when you download those files, they don't automatically get given file names like that. Normally I'll download them to photos and when I upload them it's something like "IMG_5478", not "[word]-[word]-ai-[AInamehere]-[word]-3861809". Other programs will often have other kinds of file names too.
• WHEN I COMMENTED TO CALL THIS PERSON OUT, THEY DELETED MY COMMENT. All the other comments thus far had been, "Wow, these look amazing!" or various similar remarks, but when I commented to point out that this was ai, my comment got deleted.
• They deleted some of their other posts. I commented on another one saying how the art styles on that were vastly different from a different project they posted, and that once again this was clearly ai, and not only did my comment get deleted but later on the project was unshared. This was likely to hide the different art style they had previously been generating.

I would also like to add that ai art often feels… like a mishmash of different textures. It has both 3D and 2D elements, which yes real artists can combine the two but with ai it never feels completely “right” 

Oftentimes the pupils are misshapen. This can be especially seen in front-view artwork ai produces. Especially when it comes to anime/furry generators

I’ve also noticed ai lacks in creating side views, unless you can count those generated adopts having them. And the way ai does sideviews always feels off.

I was wondering about those ai filters on TikTok, how would those work? And Snapchat filters as well. Do they just use the image to create a piece of art or are they just as bad as regular ai. Just wondering since I did use those filters a year back (before I knew how bad ai really was), it was just silly videos of the dogs I work with and messing around with the filter.

I kind of feel bad looking back knowing I may have been using stolen art, a lot of people were hopping into the trend which is why I’m curious to see if those filters are any different.

Possibly found a new one! Unlike the others that I've seen, they actually made up backstories to go with their adopts, although those might also be generated using ai, idk

I've found someone with art that i think is AI generated, but the art itself is from 2021. Before and after that is just normal art. The account is here and the characters the art is attached to are here:

There's no other art on this account that looks like that and the art is of that ai art "style", and has inconsistent eyes, parts of the character merging together, etc. which makes me think it is ai generated.
