V Rising Letters : Pigeons

[ In the early hours of the morning, a pigeon hobbles out of the keep before taking flight over the mountains. Tied to his foot is a rolled and sealed letter. ]

Sweet Beatrice,

How has it been? Are the children well? I know you said you never wanted to hear from me again, but in all honesty, I do miss who we used to be to each other. Hopefully you will forgive me for what I had done, surely you understand and would have done the same should our roles be reversed. You need not to write me back, I only wished to let you know that all is well. I do miss your company, and I hope you and your family are in good health. I write however to reluctantly inform you of the promise I had made, it is not something I can keep for long. Surely, for the common good of the citizens of the land is more than enough to be an exception. It wont be permanent. After all, it is of my own doing, and I will ensure none like us will ever be forced into the lives we lived before.
