"And you're certain about this?" Sorbus asked, the god's expression changing to one of alarm and concern. He was standing in front of two other deities, his sisters, deep in the woods. The storm raged overhead, but none of them seemed to care.

"You know I do my research," Wolfram replied. As the goddess of progress, she was not a stranger to thorough investigations. She had been on this case for months now. She knew what she was talking about. "Our dear Koroit has been a victim of a vile villain, a thieving trickster, a pilfering-"

"We get it, Wolfram." The Silver Digger did not seem happy to be back in the physical realm. After all, the last time she'd walked this plane, she'd been imprisoned by her own spawn, locked deep underground. "But who would be so bold as to steal from a deity? Who could be so clever as to do so successfully?"

"Now that I don't know. But I am sure that this is what's causing this savage storm. When they took her eyes, her physical form was scattered, and the skies split open. We all know her eyes are a powerful thing. If they fall into the wrong hands... well, that would be a most dastardly disaster."

"We can't have that," Sorbus agreed. "We need to track the opals down, and bring whoever did this to justice. In fact, I have invited a friend of mine to help us in this search."

Wisp walked into the clearing. He bowed his head to the three deities. As an Aurus, he rarely felt small, but the deities towered above him so much, he felt like a child. This did not stop him from raising his head high and speaking clearly.

"I owe a great debt to Sorbus for helping me and the adventurers for all these years. This is the least I can do to repay the favor. I will track down the thief and help you bring back the opals to their rightful owner."

The Silver Digger scoffed. "It's a dark day indeed when we rely on mortals for aid."

"This mortal has proved his merit over and over. I trust him wholeheartedly." He turned to Wisp, the Aurus who had been his friend and protege since the Aurus first returned to the physical realm. "Wisp, this will be a dangerous mission. The opal eyes of Koroit have a magic strong enough to devastate reality. All three have gone missing. All three must be returned."

"I won't disappoint you," Wisp said.

"I know you won't. Good luck, my friend."

Wisp bows again, then turns and runs back into the storm, knowing all that was at stake now.
