INHABITANTS

Demons (Demonyo)

  • Usually high class, with few bloodlines remaining pure and considered royalty.
  • The race ruling the land of Zablon. They prefer warmer climates.
  • Appearance wise- Skin color ranging from warm/cool grey to a deep red. Wings, horns, tail, sharp teeth, eyes with black sclera and varying eye color. If a demon were to procreate with another race (like a monster or a wizard) the feature the offspring is most likely to inherit are the eyes.
    • Demons may conceal their wings and tail if needed
  • What makes them special is their blood-- their blood includes unique properties that enable them to have varying powers. Along with being poisonous, they can use their blood to curse people, like how wizards can use their magic. Some of the more purer demon bloodlines are even immune to wizard magic in general.
    • Their blood also allows them to have quick regeneration from wounds and cuts. Because of this they aren’t scared to get hurt by others.
    • Forming contracts with demons to share their power requires a blood pact.
  • Demons are usually selfish about using their blood for others. Some illnesses require demon blood as a cure but they will usually be hesitant to give some out.
  • Some people may mistake vampires for demons, though they are considered part of the monster species.

Wizards (Salamangkero)

  • Higher class than the monsters, but not considered as high as demons.
  • Creatures purely made out of magical power and energy
  • The race ruling the land of Gitlayang.
  • Despite this, a lot of monsters still worship them for their magic and what they are capable of creating. Most medicine and salves are created by wizards.
  • Though appearance wise they look most like humans, it is in fact not their real form. They originally looked more like spirit entities, or ghosts, but used their magic to create human forms. Wizards need to concentrate and condense their magical power in order to gain and maintain a physical form. Eventually, it becomes natural for them to do so. When a wizard panics, it is possible for them to revert back to their ghastly appearance. It is more likely to happen to kids than adults as they have less experience and control with their magic.
  • Different wizards have different roles or specialties. Some may specialize in weather, some may specialize in dark/light magic, and some may specialize in healing. Different families have different roles or specialties.
  • Magic users usually start with basic elements, then create different variations of spells to suit their needs. For example, a water specialist may focus their magic on creating rainy weather, while a fire specialist may focus their magic on creating sunny weather.
  • Young wizards cannot fully control their power yet so they have to rely on specialized magic books for spells. It is also what helps them hone their control and gain a physical form earlier, which means that wizards have to learn how to read as early as possible. As they grow older, their power becomes more stabilized thus enabling them to create spells or handle their magic on their own.
    • However for more complex spells, wizards still may need to use tomes with special incantations no matter what the age. It also helps them control that power if ever anything goes wrong during the process.

Monsters (Halimaw)

  • The common citizen. Or at least, are more likely to be seen roaming around the lands of Nilangad.
  • The race ruling the land of Minglupa
  • Their appearance varies the most and cannot be described equally. What they have in common is that they don’t have the primary attributes of a demon or a wizard, so no special blood or no pure magic. Some monsters may also shapeshift into other creatures or animals, which demons and wizards cannot do unless they use an external source.
    • I.e If a wizard wanted to transform they would need specific potions or incantations to make it happen, while for monsters it happens naturally.
  • Intelligence levels between monsters also vary. Some may have morals and some don’t. Those without are usually seen out in the wild, far from big civilizations. Most of the time they mind their own business unless you trespass on their land, since they are very territorial. They will not hesitate to attack you.
  • Some species of monsters were created by the wizards, as they used to do experiments with their magic on animals. Nowadays it’s frowned upon to practice that sort of thing but some current monsters evolved from those creations.
  • The first monsters practiced cannibalism at first until animals came to Nilangad after which they ate animals instead. Some tribes still practice it, though.
  • Examples include animal people, insect people, elves, mermaids, centaurs, goblins, ghouls, other shapeshifting or humanoid creatures, etc.

Hybrids (Halid)

  • Hybrids of these races also exist in Nilangad. Monster/Demon ones are most common, followed by Monster/Wizard then Demon/Wizard.
    • Halid- halo (mix) + hybrid
  • Depending on which hybrid you are, you get shared power from that bloodline but it will not be that strong.
    • Monster/Demon hybrids may have special blood from the demon line, but it won’t have enough power to put a curse on someone. It may be enough to have faster wound healing, though
    • Monster/Wizard hybrids may have some form of magic power but it can only go as basic as slight telekinesis or basic elemental spells. They cannot use complex spells as the magic in their bloodline isn’t strong enough.
    • Though rare, Demon/Wizard hybrids do exist as well. Though most of the time they can get a bit unstable because demon blood and wizard blood do not mix well together. Most of these types of hybrids don’t live past their childhood or teen years.

Angels (Anghel)

  • Angels are naturally born in the afterlife realm and they do not experience pain, hunger, or thirst. They’re all created by the God of Judgement
  • Most angels' jobs are to assist those who have passed on from Nilangad. The afterlife realm serves as a sort of "purgatory" for people who have passed away on land.
  • Are barely seen on land, as they live in the afterlife realm of Nilangad.
  • If an angel is seen on land it is most likely that they were banished for not following orders from their leader, or god. It's a common fact that if one is seen walking among them they have done something terrible to get kicked out of the afterlife realm.
  • Since angels aren't supposed to be on land, their presence is often feared by land dwellers. As such, angels are always avoided for safety purposes.
  • Some angels may choose to hide their presence but one can usually tell an angel is near through the sound of flapping wings and the ringing of what seems to be like church bells.

The Three Gods (Ang Tatlong Diyos)
The three gods in charge of creating this world.

  • Creation [Isali Khazu]
    • “The Father”
    • Creates new life and objects
    • Watches over the humans in the new era
  • Balance [Tula Dalut]
    • “The Son”
    • Maintains the balance of power between the three, previously four races
    • Used to be most involved with the humans
    • Now in charge of watching over the Nilalangs, though constantly neglects their job and only intervenes when a world-ending event is about to occur
  • Judgement [Takom Hutlo]
    • “The Holy Spirit”
    • Decides the fate of each entity in the afterlife
    •  Are accompanied by Angels who also help Judgement with their job

HISTORY (WIP, will be updated soon.)

Conception

  • Humans created alongside demons, wizards, and monsters and put into one whole world
  • Humans prayed to the gods (God of Balance in this case) to help them survive since they were constantly dying or being killed by the hands of demons, wizards, and/or monsters
  • Since they have the most faith and are always coming to Balance to ask for help, Balance asked Creation to create a new world where humans can live on their own
  • Creation complied, only with the agreement that Creation would be in charge of watching humans while Balance would stick with watching the Nilalangs
  • Erased all memories of the previous timeline and started from scratch one again with the current agreement
    • Images of humans only appeared to the Nilalangs in fleeting dreams, which would later urge Nilalangs to make portals to other dimensions to see if those dreams were real
  • Everything was fine at first, until Balance realized that no one was praying to them or asking them for help anymore since Nilalangs had powers and could survive on their own
  • Balance, having a huge ego, demanded that they watch over the humans instead but Creation refused because the terms were clear and agreed upon
  • Balance became angry and thus neglected to do their job of watching over Nilangad, enabling the Nilalangs to create portals to the human world and have humans kidnapped to Nilangad and killed once again

Beginning

Among the three races, the Demons and the Wizards were the prominent races in Nilangad, as they were sentient enough to know what was going on around them and self aware of their existence. The Monsters wouldn’t come until later, where they would initially be seen only as rabid creatures who only had survival instincts. All three races would initially not look anything like humans; with Demons looking more like batlike creatures, Wizards looking like ghastly spirits, and Monsters looking like various types of beasts.

The Demon and Wizard races would often work together to build proper civilizations. With the Demons using their physical power and stamina to build houses, and the Wizards to help out with growing food and creating necessities. Both species would often rely on fruits and vegetables for food, until the Demons would eventually hunt down the Monsters for a taste of meat and blood. The Wizards would frown upon this act by the Demons as they saw the Monsters as creatures worthy of basic respect. Unknowingly to them all, it was only the beginning of the feud between the two races.

Years would pass by and their skills and knowledge about themselves would advance. Monsters would slowly evolve to be like the Demons and the Wizards with knowledge about themselves, their abilities, and how to avoid being hunted by the Demons (and at some point, Wizards as well).

If there was something in common they all had, it was the dreams. Dreams that somehow seemed like memories of a race that does not exist. They called them Humans. Seemingly plain and powerless, but their image and anatomy fascinated them. It was almost like they were the closest image to how a god was supposed to look like.

One day, a group of very powerful and skilled Demons and Wizards thought of experimenting with their specialties-- demon blood and wizard magic. They thought of trying to open a portal to see if there were any other worlds or realities other than theirs, or if they would somehow find out if the “humans” they saw in their dreams were real. Knowing the power the blood and the magic hold, they thought it would be possible.

It took decades of trial and error but one day they were finally able to do it. With the right amount of demon blood infused with special magic from the Wizards, they were finally able to open a portal-- to the human world.

War

The first group of Demons and Wizards who were able to open up the portal and enter it were called the “Unang Nuno” or the “First Ancestors”, though many would shortcut it to the “Unano”. When they stepped into the human world, they discovered a place much like their own. While the Wizards were more interested in the discovery of new types of plants for them to use with their magic, the Demons were more interested in the intelligent creatures inhabiting the world, which were the humans. Unfortunately for them they were not able to stay long due to the portal having a time limit so they went back. That wouldn’t be the last time they would return to the human world though.

The news regarding the human world travelled fast, and now Demons, Wizards, and even Monsters everywhere would cooperate to open portals more often. They all took what they wanted from the human world; plants, animals, and even humans. They were all so fascinated with humans especially to the point where they wanted to look human as well. Wizards used magic with human material such as skin, hair, nails, etc. to look more like them. Demons took human blood in order to get their DNA. The hamilaw were interested in both the humans and the animals that lived in their world, so they mixed their forms by practicing the use of shapeshifting. Because humans have no power of their own, they were often left to fend for themselves and they would usually not last long out in the wilderness of Nilangad, especially with all the hungry Monsters running around.

Things would continue normally like this but not for long. Others would start to get greedy and demand to open more portals for a longer amount of time. Creating a portal would require a Demon, a Wizard, and huge amounts of blood and magical energy. Greedy Demons would force Wizards to prolong the opening of portals, losing their human form, and greedy Wizards would oftentimes continue hurting Demons to continually extract their blood, since their wounds keep rehealing. This would lead to plenty of Demons and Wizards dying at the expense of the other. Aside from that, they would also use portals to banish the ones who disobeyed law or ones who were generally causing too much chaos. This would lead to different stories or myths about the supernaturals in the human world.

All of this would lead up to a huge conflict between the two races, with the Monsters siding with whoever they wanted to side with. The Unano, now seeing what evil the portals have brought upon their people, decided to put an end to it all. They decided to seal all the portals and lock away all the information regarding portals and everyone’s memories about it in a very powerful tome contained in a jar filled with the most powerful and cursed demon blood. With the last of their breath, the Unano sacrificed themselves to lock the jar away from anyone who might want to take it.

Aftermath

With everyone having no memory of humans, things went back to the way they were. The animals and plants the previous supernaturals got from the human world continued to reproduce, and no one knew that they were not native to Nilangad. Humans remain a myth among many, and plenty of elders tell stories to their young about how humans once roamed their lands.

To this day the sacred tome remains unfound and no one knows where it is hidden, even those who have descended from the Unano.
