‘Mistake mistake mistake…!!!’

The vine bridge shook as Mars ran down it, bouncing with each step. The speed he was gaining was probably not all that safe. But he couldn’t tell if the guards had seen him.

“Sssstupid Floran.” He smacked into the wooden guardrail that marked a turn in the bridge. There was a crack, he didn’t stop to figure out whether it was him or the rail that had made the sound. He dropped down, grabbing the edge of the platform. Holding still till he was sure no one was following. 

Down below, there was a pit of water, but with this lighting and the distance, he couldn’t tell if it was healing water or watered down acid. But he let go, it would be faster and less painful for both outcomes that could happen.

It turned out to be normal water with a green light in it. 

He hit the bottom of the pit, the impact was still jarring despite being slowed by water. Dazed, his mind drifted, thinking of how Floran his age were supposed to be up-top, watching the hunting party leave.

But here he was.
Down the the depths of the canyon.
Saving some Mammal based life forms. 

He shook out of the daze at that thought. Climbing out of the water. He listened for their shrieking, thankfully, the male one was still upset and screaming it’s head off. Finding the cage and smashing the simple lock was easy.

Looking these creatures in the eyes and hoping they’d take you with them was the uncertainty.
