FOTD 2021

The fine webbing hung everywhere between the plants, white and almost invisible to the naked eye. It amazed the dam, just staring at all the trees and bushes covered in it. The spiders had been so busy! They had only been inside for a few days to relax and binge off their food supply, coming out for some fresh air. Maybe they were just super active with this year, or that would be something Folkren or Krites would say if she asked about it. Not that she doubted them, sometimes animals were so silly and got so bored.

“What cha looking at Vina?” Lykos asked, meeping as he stepped on some of the white fine strings, shaking it off but didn’t freak out like many people would when they would run into spider webs in doorways.

“Look at all the spider webs! The spiders are so silly!” Touching some of the webbing shaken off of Lykos, it was oddly soft and sticky. It reminded her of cotton candy, opening her mouth to start moving the white mess into her mouth but was stopped by Lykos’s hand and big eyes staring at her.

“Don’t eat it, silly.” Leaning over to give her cheek a small smooch, she returned the web to the ground and suppoooooosed Lykos would know better as he was older. Purring softly, she leaned over to lick his face and just sat there, admiring the surroundings around her with the gentle breeze.

“Do you think they’re having fun making them all?”

“I think so, they live in them. Maybe they are building their spring homes, just like birds that fly south for the winter and then return home come spring.” Lykos mused, leaning his head on her as she thought it over. Summer spiders sounded fun, she wondered if she would see these summer spiders.
