Beginnings [2]

As another cold breeze came from all directions, causing the wind sir to falter in his flight, he kept his wings outstretched at the moment. The monotone colored male dragon flew as steady as he could through the area, between his beak was a snack for his journeys. As the wind picked up again, sending another rough and bone chilling gust, Mercy gave in to slowly weaving closer to the ground in hope of a short rest. He was used to long adventures in unforgiving terrain, but this one a little more unforgiving. He hoped to find a small group to travel with once more, though enjoying home and the safety it provided, he was a young and free spirit. Unlike his pair of riders, who were safely and warmly tucked away at the moment with their few other dragons.

Finding what he thought was a snow covered stone, he settled down and shook off the dusting of snow flakes with his cracker-like snack still firmly and safely in his beak. A gift from his riders, and they knew the physically young but seemingly old soul dragon would be off again when he felt the need. A baby to the strange celestial and elf rider, not that he agreed with that despite being the youngest and newest to the world.

Lost in thought as he moved gingerly around on what he thought was a non-living inanimate object, his ‘rock’ began to also shift and move. Dark colored limbs popping out and the piles of snow falling as the once rounded mound became morebox shaped as it shuffled from a pile it found itself napping in. It’s brown cardboard soaked, but still standing.

Giving off some slightly distressed cooing noises, Boxy the box dragon paused to look around. His entire body turning as he looked for maybe an injured bird who needed help or one close by who was being approached too quickly. Not that he found anything, ths distressed one sitting atop him as if he was the new perch they always wanted.

A small dance of a sort, but finally both took notice to each other and seemed to accept one another's company. Mercy did find the cardboard creature as weird, but there were so many weirder dragons he decided not to really question it. All was well, as he broke off a piece of his cracker snack to share.

Curious and thankful, Boxy reached up one of his hands to touched a rough textured things, unsure what it was until it was moved to in front of his face and mashed against the soggy cardboard until it sank inside. It wasn’t the best way to eat, but the way he was doing so as the dragon knew soon he’d have to dry off and the box cover would be warmed and dried once more.

Even if moving so slow, the cold wind against his dark colored feathers left him shivering. The rest of the cracker was eaten whole as the four legged other led the way through the winter wonderland that lay untouched in front of them.

Stretching out his winds as Boxy took them forward, Mercy debated spreading his sore wings out and taking off again. Resting his wings against his round and soft body, he felt fuller and lazier even after his quick meal and decided against the passing though. For once, just sitting there was moving him off to sate his desire for adventure. Who knew where this friendly dragon would take him off to, he was about to find out in his start of the year journey with no end goal.
