Many odd years ago, there was a beautiful being full of life, a creation of the All Mother, she was dubbed Mother Nature, otherwise known as Masa-Yoshi.
One day, Masa-Yoshi met a man who stood on the cusp of purity and corruption constantly, although this man was not a creation of the All Mother directly. He was more a creation of the planet itself something a bit like an incarnation of rogue magic brought to life through plants, galactic dust and clouds. They spent many years getting to know each other and through a cycle of loving and distance, they fell madly in love. Nexus loved Masa-Yoshi and her pure radiance and soothing aura so dearly that he wanted to protect her from anything that could harm or darken her, even if the threat was his inherent nature. In order to do this, he would seclude himself from her when his corruptive influence was at its strongest and most uncontrollable, the nights where the light of the moon did not shine.
Eventually the empty world they lived in, of just the pair of them began to feel cold and lifeless so they began to create children in their image. Nexus was tickled by this act with the first being Masa-Yoshi's creation, one inspired by herself and her lover, then he made his own to show her his affection and devotion to her in kind. She made many of these beings in her own image to fill their lovely paradise, never even feeling the desire to venture out beyond where she had been born, thinking that this secluded area was a perfect sanctuary, never once wanting to see the rest of the planet she inhabited. Nexus was different though. He wanted to know more about this world, he wanted to go on adventures together, explore their surroundings, see everything there was to be seen, understand everything they could learn, and have children born of the two of them through coupling. This is where the discourse between them was born.
Nexus and Masa-Yoshi, despite trying to work through their differences, began to drift apart. With Masa-Yoshi beginning to spend less time with him due to the strain their differences caused, Nexus' corruption began to get the better of him, its poisonous whispers and lies becoming unignorable, and slowly began to consume him becoming stronger and stronger with each crack it made in his heart and causing him to spend more time away from his light and love as a result. Masa-Yoshi began throwing herself into making her community grow, in hopes that doing so would help to ease her sadness from his distance. Of course as she made more Bloompuffs, she ended up with less time she could devote to just being with him. The pantheon of gods began to fill in as well as the All Mother created more godly children to accompany the very sad Masa-Yoshi, hoping to give her more of a family and ease her sorrow. The All Mother never trusted this strange man, despite him being made from a rogue piece of her own magic and in a sense being one of her own children.
Nexus' heart began to wander as the love that sustained his strength waned and flickered out and he left Masa-Yoshi, as his eyes were now set on someone else, or rather two someones. One was a woman of Bloompuff birth and the other was a mysterious woman of unknown birth. Together the pair gave him the strength to not only keep the influence of his corruption at bay but to reverse some of the damage it had caused on his psyche and his heart. He would never be the man Masa-Yoshi had first fallen for, but he could be a good man again. The second woman unexpectedly brought a light back into his life that he had thought was lost to him like Masa-Yoshi. He fell hard for her, and eventually both of his lovers became pregnant at the same time. After some time had passed, they birthed two boys on the same day, both candidates for Nexus' throne. The firstborn was named Tsubomi a perfect Bloompuff child and the second Meret, this child having strange little elf ears and Maned Wolf ears, while seeming to somehow also have some traits of a Bloompuff.
After some time and a few created children later, his first lover drifted off into the seeming unknown, but the second stayed and they were more in love than ever and his corruption was silent, almost ominously so. Then one fateful day, the unspeakable occurred. To this day it is still unclear even in the most official and secret of records and histories but Nexus' true love and soulmate, Meret's mother, was struck down and perished in her lover's arms.
Stricken hard by grief and loss, Nexus' corruption took him over completely and shattered his heart as the last thing in this world that had kept it at bay was now gone. In the chaotic throes of his now unkempt corruption Nexus placed the blame for his light’s death on Masa-Yoshi and her neglect and dismissal of him and his love. In revenge he decided to take away that which she loved so much more than him and plunged the small world of Aermerea, Masa-Yoshi's paradise, into a war of death and destruction, changing it forever.
This war lasted many months and involved many allies and foes alike that they never realized that they had even shared this planet with. More gods were sent by the All Mother in an attempt to bolster Masa-Yoshi's forces as she intrepidly tried only to defend herself and her people, never once striking back at Nexus and his forces. Nexus fought with every ounce of corruption and darkness he had, calling upon forces from the deepest of earth, from the underground where he had taken refuge away from the bloompuff filled paradise he had grown to hate. But in the end he was overpowered and lost after thousands of bloompuffs and others alike had died and been affected. A new trinity of goddesses led by Masa-Yoshi was able to seal Nexus away. Eliana the Sun Goddess and Mona the Moon Goddess became her support and helped her through her grief of having to strike down and seal someone who had been so important to her, and they eventually became her lovers and closest family. Masa-Yoshi was too late she felt like she had failed the children she had created, Nexus and their new friends. There was a great mourning at what was left of the little land called Aermerea, as the rest of it burned endlessly with corruptive fire.
After the scorched land had finally cooled and the cursed fires were put out by gods and other beings of purity with some issue, the trinity of goddesses combined their powers together to restore their homeland. Wanting to make a safe sanctuary, they moved a chunk of the land they once lived in to the sky creating a giant floating isle of refuge, hidden between high mountain ranges and at the end of a secret pathway that would allow only the trusted to come from the planet's surface to the isle. Once they healed their isle, they began to populate anew, this time by combining flowers, animals they had seen, and the surrounding pure clouds together rather than just creating them out of thin air and in their image as had been done before.
Most first generation Bloompuffs were killed off in the war, whether intentionally or as unavoidable casualties, but some of a small group of surviving Bloompuffs, deterred by the war and destruction, fled into their earth like planet, scattering across it and never daring to go near the floating isle. They considered the earthly planet more their home than the floating isle could ever be and that is where they should stay and be, especially after finding it already populated with many species and people that they had never known to exist before the war due to Masa-Yoshi's secluded, isolationist ways.
Many things changed after the war but one could argue that Masa-Yoshi and Nexus were the ones that were irrevocably changed forever. History has since been written in such a way that none but the oldest of ‘Puffs even know Masa-Yoshi and Nexus were ever together.
Until today that is. The time has come for all to know the secret history of the connection between Masa-Yoshi and Nexus. For if we do not know our past, how can we shape the future of our fates?
