Q: What's a Locked Species?
A: A species that is free to make with no need for MYO approval, as long as you're in the Mahou Wando group and Discord!
You can even make adopts of the species as LONG AS YOU HAVE AT LEAST 3 BADGES and 1 COMPLETED CHARACTER APPLICATION.

 HOW DO I START MAKING MY OWN BUNBAT? 

Step 1. READ THIS and follow the steps to join the group~
Step 2. Abide by the MYO rules below and you're all good to go! Seriously. :D

  BUNBAT MYO DO'S AND DO NOTS  

1. You can literally take this species and do what you want with it as long as it is sfw when showcasing others in the group! And y'know, credit to Beartie for the species is nice!
2. Don't do something illegal with your bat, it'll get you banned and Beartie will be very disappointed. Also, pls don't make NFTs out of anything Bunbat related!
3. Make sure your (non-crossbred) Bunbat has these traits at the very least when designing them! Or else... it's not really a BunBat y'know and it might as well be something else laughs-
x. Natural colored skin, white sclera, bat wings (not feathered or bug wings), a heart stamp nose, everything on the non-optional trait sheet
x. Is humanoid-looking. Even hybrid Buns aren't that nonhumanoid!
4. You can make as many bats as you want there's no limit!
5. Before making crossbreeds make sure to give the BUNBAT LIFESTYLE section a read so you know what they typically look like!

  BUNBAT TRADING AND RESELLING 

1. You can trade/gift/resell BunBats without notifying the group!
2. You can resell BunBats for original + commission price!
3. Can tack on extra pricing reselling if justified (ex. Has a lot of art in gallery)
4. Those outside the group can still appreciate, buy, trade, and resell the species.

  BUNBAT ADOPTS  

1. Bunbat adopt makers must be members of Mahou Wando's TH world AND be in the Mawa Discord!
2. You need to have at least 1 character application in the group.
3. And have 3 earned badges in the Badge Bank before you can make Bunbat adopts!
4. Must be in positive or neutral relationship to the species owners to make em, would be kinda weird if you weren't and made it right in front of our salad!
5. Adopt maker must not have previous theft/tracing/negative history in that wheelhouse.
6. Must credit Beartie when making adopts. Especially to an audience that's not in the group!
7. Must have art examples on their page with a 6-month-old account.
8. Adopt makers WHO ARE NOT OUT OF GROUP GUEST ARTISTS can keep 100% of the profit for their designs, Beartie just asks for credit for the species!
9. Out of group guest artists can keep 75% of profit!
10. Adopt privilege may be revoked if any of the above conditions are broken afterward.

After being saved by Agatha Hargrooves, the Bunbats were kindly integrated into their new society and adapted as time went on. The King of Bunbats at the time had a very friendly relationship with Agatha and worked closely with her to assure his people's safety. Due to these positive relations, the original Ruler of the BunBats was able to have a seat on the council- a position that would be passed down the family bloodline as centuries passed by.

Unfortunately, the LAST heir to the BunBat throne (who refused to address himself as a King, rather sticking with Prince) was-- insanely incompetent and an example of a meek-willed BunBat. Much to the shame of the BunBat people, near Christmas in 2019 he conducted a magical sabotage operation on the global figurehead, Santa Claus, for not bringing him a Christmas present, and was immediately banished upon capture. YIKES. If Agatha Hargrooves hasn't been missing for over a thousand years, she surely would have said a lot about this...

But, when monarchs are thrown out... there's always a path forward!

With his parents rolling in their graves, Kyosuke held a legacy for being a sniveling and yet aggressive coward who seems to enjoy embarrassing himself. He doesn't seem to have an interest in anything except attractive anime females, and there were many times he'd come to political discussions with a body pillow in hand. CRINGE. Ever since his banishment, his absence has stirred some interesting-looking changes towards democracy! Rumors say he's a Vtuber now-

A BunBat who serves as the mascot for the BunBat species! She's everywhere, working at every job? How's she doing that?
She's mute and uses illustrated signs to communicate! Most if not all BunBats know of her!

  Coven Culture    

Bunbats are an extremely social species!! They require friends.. even if certain Bunbats don't want to admit it..
If they don't have at least one friend to turn to at all times, they become very sad and sometimes in rare cases can die of loneliness. :c

[The Importance of Socializing In BunBat Culture]

Bunbats refer to their friends as "coven members", and it isn't uncommon to find a Bunbat coven consisting of over 10 members.
Non-Bunbat mahous can also be coven members! Though some snotty Bunbats scoffs at the new age practice, those bats are lame though.
Bunbats take their covens very seriously!! It's considered the utmost gross to backstab a coven member, and most Bunbats are very protective of their friends!
  

What's Tinkering?
Bunbats have a natural eye for creating, breaking down, and repairing most objects and elements.
Most BunBats tend to have something that's especially good at tinkering with, and identify with it along with potentially having covens dedicated to their passion.
Ex. Broom Tinkering, House Tinkering, Weapon Tinkering, Wand Tinkering, Bagbat Tinkering, Backstage Tinkering, etc.

I mean. It's exactly what it sounds like. Bunbats have always been very passionate writers and scholars! They're especially passionate because thanks to the mass writing done on Nightsovania, there were countless records of olden BunBats traditions left behind that were salvaged and brought to the Mahou Wando libraries.
Bunbats are known to become great authors, song lyricist, scholars and back alley slam poetry kids- it's viewed as an effective way to express ones self, make connections and preserve your own story.

In Ancient Nightsovania, it was a common practice to "loaf" as a formal greeting!
In the presence of royalty, or for those your respect.
Although it looks very adorable this is to be taken with the most upmost seriousness!!!

  [QUICK FAQ]  

1.) What is a feral form?
These are regarded as an echo to what your ancestors may have looked like back in ancient Nightsovania.
There are six known variants, all biologically adapted to fit the conditions your ancestors may have endured in the ancient origins of your bloodline.

2.) How do they transform?

As per their vampiric roots, BunBats can freely transform between both forms.
This is one of the magical sparks that BunBats have, some are able to turn with ease while others require practice!

3.) Do they still use these forms today?
While they were initially for survival purposes- BunBats have long evolved out of having to be in them or use them.
However, this is an ancient element of their history as a species, it is treasured and seen as valuable.
You can even gain benefits you didn't have before from being in your feral form!

As with any species, one must adapt to specific conditions in order to survive.
One can indicate the origins of their ancestors through their feral form.

  [ RETRO ]   
~ A Classic look ~
This form isn't renowned for being able to do anything spectacular, but is recognized for being a "classic" appearance.
It is often an indicator of being "untainted" or "noble."
A BunBat whose entire bloodline simply encountered very little issues in survival and continued to breed with its own kind.
To have this form in the modern day is quite legendary.
[Quirks]
-Despite it's wingspan, it is still incapable of taking flight. Being able to slightly hover at best-
-It is frankly, very average or inadequate at everything it tries to do.
-More of a flex to show off to be quite honest

  [ POMF ]  
~ To the Skies! ~
In the feral hierarchy, these bats played the roles of scouts, guides, or assistants to their Retro bats.
To survive, they developed bigger wings and smaller bodies.
During ancient times, they carried signals and sent them across the land for their covens to navigate.
They're immediately recognizable because of their massive wings- which render them capable of flight!

-BunBats with this form are the fastest fliers.
-They need to feed regularly to keep their energy, for their digestive tracks are very short.
-While adapted to the skies, they are completely useless on land, their legs are nonexistent-
-It is theorized that the Kerflutters evolved modeling after them for appearance!

  [ COUNT ]  
~ Power Paws! ~
This form is well known for it's advanced land survival capabilities.
When confined to the earth, these bats' wings transformed to play the role of a cape, allowing them to camouflage.
They are known to be excessively creative and the most capable kind of BunBat on land.
[Quirks]
-Their wings resemble a cape and can have adaptive patterns for camouflage.
-They have tough paws that allow them to dig far into the earth, making burrows and secret hideouts whenever.
-They are known to store food, or whatever object they find appealing in their burrows.
-Are said to be the feral form that started the tradition of tinkering.
-They cannot fly, as their wings have lost the bone structure to propel one into the air.

  [ TOY ]  
~ U//w//U ~
This form is a byproduct of a phenomena that when predators and/or other species would encounter a BunBat...
an ideal survival reflex was to be so DARN CUTE that they'd simply have to adopt you instead of eat you!
This variant survives through using their charm to fall under the care of other species.
Or sometimes, even noble families as their ears have grown large to add to their appeal.
It is said why many nobles have large ears nowadays...  is because of frequent interbreeding between the Retro and Toy variants.

-Don't you want to pet them? UwU
-They're the tinest Bunbat feral variant, some being able to fit in the palm of one's hand...
-In ancient times when resources fall short from their "hosts", they tend to find another one to replace them.
-They're pretty useless at everything else. Think of them like a toy poodle that just wants to sit in your purse.

  [ CRAWLER ]  
~ Survival Mode... ~
The byproduct of BunBats that were isolated or abandoned by their colonies, forced to endure the brutal landscape on their own.
These bats learned to adapt and forage for themselves in the face of rejection.
It's a mystery how this form managed to make it into the modern age, as it's usually a symbol of a bloodline that should have been long gone- and yet it preserves!
[Quirks]
-Capable of crawling across various surfaces, trees are their favorite.
-They tend to come with heighted tastes, smell, and hearing for survival.
-Capable of gliding across short distances when they spread their wings.
-They are not picky eaters and is the only Bunbat feral variant able to gather nutrition from solid food.
-While not unappealing to other species, to their own they are considered very ugly or unsettling.

- Dead /Rejected Bloodlines, hybrids.

  [ MAGICIANS ]  
~ Wand waving friends! ~
When introduced to realms with magic, a new variant would appear in the generations that were born within those dimensions.
These BunBats are capable of spell casting and are regarded as highly intelligent pioneers in magical tinkering.
They store their magic in their large, puffy tails and use sticks or mini wands to strike foes and protect their covens.
[Quirks]
-Bunbats with this form are capable of great spell casting. On par with sometimes regular mahous!
-Extremely intelligent and love to learn! They got a big head and big brains too~
-They're the only feral variant to become fully bipedal, most likely modeling themselves after Mawa's citizens.
-Their tails are their magical storage, and are unusually large. Making it hard for them to survive ferally without magic in the wild.

  COMMON BUNBAT EAR SHAPES  
Well, the most notable feature about a BunBat is their large ears, and they are VERY aware of that!
You see, BunBats take care of their ears and take their presentation very seriously. Like how a human can find beauty in the face, a BunBat will judge by the beauty of one's ears.

BunBats with ears smaller/equal to their face is seen as "small-eared" while BunBats with ears bigger than their face are seen as "large-eared."
In ye old Nightsovania, BunBats born with naturally large ears were seen as extremely desirable mates, often said to be of royal court lineage.
On the other hand, BunBats born with naturally smaller ears were seen as less desirable and sometimes lost the mating privilege to those with bigger ears.

BunBats with damaged ears were considered the least desirable but were not as harshly discriminated against. At most, they made other Bunbats uncomfortable.
In the present day, there are many BunBats that follow these social laws to a print, while others have taken more- renegade paths.

  
Ear Beautification Rituals
BunBats who are more self-conscious about their appearances will take time to decorate, shape, and/or color their ears.
Piercings are a controversial semi-rebellious trend as some BunBats are really into the fashion trend, while other BunBats are uncomfortable because the idea of pierced ears rattle em.

  BUNBATS' STRANGE LAST NAMES...?  

There are many kinds of BunBats across Mahou Wando that take on their lives in different ways!
Usually the most obvious way to pin-point that is by checking their last name.

  
[Noble Lineage BunBats]
Often have last names that tie into their most iconic or notable trait! Bloodline is very important to royal BunBats and you should marry into a family of equal blood worth or beauty as yours! These names can sound quite silly to regular mahous, but these bats wear them with pride.
Ex. James LongEars, Chat CurlyTail, Ben BigWings
These names can also tie into their signature tinkering skill or their bloodlines tinkering skill!
Ex. Kat Mirroreyes, Lucille Buildigloves, Alex Mastertinker

  
[BunBats that live outside of Nightsovania]
There are families of BunBats that leave Lil' Nightsovania and even Mahou Wando entirely to plant roots elsewhere! BunBats inherently want to explore and see new things at some point in their lives after all (Their mission statement is still conquering the world!). These BunBats are pretty flexible in terms of what their last names can be and if they skip entire generations might just not know what their original last names WERE.
This still rings true for BunBats that leave Nightsovania for mainland Mahou Wando as WELL.

  
[BunBats that marry out of realm/out of species]
These BunBats will often take on the last name of their partners! No matter the gender.
Their genuine last-name will become their middle name or will be casually tossed aside until family reunions
(where you have to explain that your last name basically means 'big butt' in BunBat).
Ex. James L.E. Wells, Chat C.T. Smith, Ben B.W. Jones

  HOW DO BUNBATS FEEL ABOUT NON-BUNBATS?  

 Having their entire species saved from actual extinction by Agatha, made the Bunbats generally quite fond of other species!
They usually don't mind non-bunbats living among them at all and enjoy hearing different lifestyles and perspectives.

However, there is always a naysayer, and for Bunbats they come in the forms of those who look down upon Mahous, viewing them as unintelligent and primitive. This prideful mindset usually comes from BunBats who flex about their ability to comprehend expert tinkering from a young age, their tendency to be articulate and literate, and pride in their royal lineages & rich history.

A conservative BunBat might be inclined to only accept BunBats into their covens (something that can be seen as closed-minded)
while a more liberal BunBat would be open to having their covens LEAD by a non-bunbat. (something that can be seen as unorthodox)
It depends on the bats!

  SO...WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BUNBAT MARRIES A NONBAT, CAN THEY HAVE CHILDREN?  

Yes!

Bunbats are actually quite genetically adaptive! And can have children with almost any species. What tends to happen though is that the child will be A BUNBAT with added on traits from the other species. So WEIRD BAT KIDS WITH WEIRDO TRAITS!! It'll never be 50/50 genetic split because the BunBat features will ALWAYS overpower the other species.

EXAMPLE: Bunbat Man Marries Dragon Lady

Yes: Child is a Bunbat with dragon-features (scales at places, slit eyes, wings look kinda dragon-like)
but retains their PREDOMINANT BUNBAT FEATURES (EARS, TAIL, FANGS, WINGS, and NOSE)

No: Child is a whole ass dragon with like, bunbat ears.

The child MUST look/resemble a Bunbat!
