Kawakami Kikuko (川上 菊子, Kikuko Kawakami ) is a fan character for the Bungo Stray Dogs manga and anime series. A member of the Port Mafia, she is closely associated with Chuya Nakahara and Dazai Osamu.

Kikuko gives off a very serious aura which makes her seem anti-social, however the woman is just naturally reserved and quiet. A keep to herself individual, Kikuko takes her work seriously and works with a quiet efficiency that is often overlooked by most which suits her perfectly. Kikuko dislikes having too much attention on her and being put on the spot, hinting at the fact that she is rather shy in that regard. It’s not to say that she’s unable to be around a large crowd she just gets a little flustered. Equally soft spoken, Kikuko tends only to speak when spoken to or if it’s absolutely warranted unless with friends. However her words tend to come off as abrasive due to her curt way of speaking, so she tries to be mindful of her approach despite the fact that she comes off as unbothered. She greatly cares about the feelings of others and tends to get a bit dejected when she happens to upset someone unintentionally.

With those she is close too, Kikuko’s affections are subtle. Displaying a more relaxed disposition, the female is surprisingly attentive though this isn’t limited to just those that are friends. Her subordinates also receive the same treatment as she likes to keep tabs on their well being and converses with them when giving the chance, oftentimes getting annoyed with the ones that take on more than they can handle health wise. This completely surprises those around her due to the fact that she carries herself professionally when working, her serious demeanor often making others view her as intimidating and unapproachable. However her genuine interest in her underlings erases her rumored image for a more soft spoken and friendly one. Most point this out in amusement which flusters her.

Completely loyal to the Port Mafia, Kikuko can become almost brutal when doing her job. It’s not to say she’s sadistic, Kikuko tends to deal with her enemies with apathy. She has no qualms with getting her hands dirty as it’s her job but she isn’t heartless. The female refuses to harm children or innocent people dragged into horrible situations. Her compassion is limited though as she is rarely one to fall for an obvious sob story or the likes.

Though normally mellow when fighting, Kikuko seems to get excited when faced with someone on equal footing than her or stronger though it’s hard to tell with how inexpressive she is. It’s not because she gets a thrill out of it or anything, she simply views it as a way to improve her own skills. It’s almost comical with the way she views everything as a learning experience.

Kikuko is the daughter of the boss of an unnamed crime organization with close ties to the Port Mafia and her right hand man. Because of their professions, Kikuko learned early on that she needed to protect herself at all times despite her parent's best attempts at keeping her away from their line of work. Spending most of her childhood with nannies, Kikuko wouldn't say that she was sad because of this; knowing the effects of her parents jobs and accepting it, she would cling to the time she was able to see them. It wasn't the average situtation but she was happy.

When Kikuko was twelve is when things changed. Due to the former's boss judgement calls turning to wild and baseless acts of violence, her father urged Kikuko's mother to pull away from the organization in order to advoid being dragged into their bloodshed. This would raise disagreement from her mother who believed the only way to advoid such an outcome was to stay by them and do as they wished. This resulted in a lot of tension between the two the Kikuko couldn't really ignore as they had soon stopped speaking to each other as her mother had to deal with the mafia and her father refused to offer any assitance on the matter. They did however, keep their daugther out of their problem. Kikuko nevertheless was very concern for her parent's relationship and in turn developed a very strained relationship with the two.

She would eventually be dragged into the middle when she woke in the middle of the night to find her father standing over her mother covered in blood. At her panicked scream, her father tried to explain that this was the only way to save themselves since her mother refused to cut connections with the mafia and he would rather kill her then have them all dead due to the boss' orders. Unable to wrapped her head around his reasonings, it didn't take her father long to realize that his answer wouldn't convince her and found that he was only left with the option to kill her since if news broke that he killed the head then both organizations would be out for his head. Keenly aware of her father's bloodlust towards her, Kikuko had no choice but to kill her father using her own ability lest she herself wanted to die. With thier deaths, the organization crumbled due to lack of leadership and Kikuko was forced to surivived in the underground with just her street smarts and ability. Kikuko would eventually stumble upon Mori after coming to clinic in need of treatment. Having reconizing each other due to the fact her mother often came there when she herself was injured, Kikuko told the male what happened to her mother and her group, in turn getting a temporary place of residence due to the fact that the male owe her mother a 'favor'. After Mori succedes the old boss, Kikuko is formally recruited into the mafia under Kouyou Ozaki.

Fifteen

Kikuko is seen at the beginning of fifteen running into Dazai and Chuya as she was sent out to do a task by Kouyou. Curious at seeing Dazai out and about, she questions what he's up to. The male responds with it being "top secret~" and she mutters something along the lines of him and his dramatics. Finally taking note of Chuya, she simply gives her name and apologizes for Dazai's behavior before scurrying without him getting a change to respond to her. Confused by this, Chuya looks to Dazai who waves it off, saying that she's simply shy. The two meet again after Chuya offically joins the mafia as they seem to click over their exasperation of being the targets for Dazai's antics.

Dragon Head Rush

Kikuko is seen working with Chuya and Dazai as help in dealing with the members of the enemy base as Chuya storms it in order to rescue Dazai. She is later seen checking for surviors.

Shadow On A Winter's Day (Kanji, Rōmaji): Kikuko's ability allows her to create and manipulate ice for offensive and defensive purposes, giving her a wide range of skills. A side effect of her ability is that her body temperature drops significantly so if she over does it, she runs the risk of freezing to death.
