Baheerah Shafiq is a British-Pakistani pure-blood witch, fifth-born daughter of Hamad and Junaraaj Shafiq, and younger sister to Aman, Syeda, Eshaal, and Shazia, and older sister to Shaista, Maryam, and Naseem. Baheerah attended Hogwarts from 2006-2014, and was sorted into Ravenclaw. Baheerah is known at her school for being a stereotypical Ravenclaw, focused entirely on her studies and being the best, and she does indeed often claim the spot of top of her year. It is likely that her commitment to her grades, or the rules, helped to earn Baheerah the role of prefect in her fifth year. Baheerah is very naturally smart and she does care about school, but she isn't truly as competitive as her peers see her; rather, she's quiet and somewhat shy, which many take to mean she's standoffish. In secret, she is dating Xenia Bythesea, and has been since her fourth year.

Baheerah was born to pure-bloods Hamad and Junaraaj Shafiq, and grew up as the younger sister to Aman, Syeda, Eshaal, and Shazia--and later, became the older sister to Shaista, Maryam, and Naseem. Baheerah's upbringing was a little unusual; despite having magical parents, muggle-things were quite commonplace, as her family ran a muggle-goods import shop in Diagon Alley, which they live on the upper floors of. In addition to being homeschooled with Junaraaj, Baheerah and her family also tried to stay grounded and learn, as well as appreciate, muggles.

Baheerah was sorted into Ravenclaw when she started attending Hogwarts, and she was pleased to be in the same house as her older sister, Aman, even though they didn't actually attend school together. Baheerah was quite though, and aside from occasionally talking to her older sisters (mostly Eshaal and Syeda, since Shazia was too popular to get much time with), Baheerah didn't really talk to very many people. She didn't really mind though, comfortable enough with solitude as it enabled her to happily make her way through the mountain of books she was always eager to read.

In year 4, however, a Gryffindor girl named Xenia, who played for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, decided that she was going to reach out to Baheerah and try to become her friend. Although Baheerah was a little shy about it at first, she found she got along with Xenia with ease--although not so much so when any of Xenia's other friends were around. A while later into their fourth year, Xenia confessed her feelings for Baheerah, and the two began to date. They kept their relationship a secret, as Baheerah was unsure how her Muslim parents would take it--and still, has not told any of her sisters about it.
