ABOUT

"I’m just protecting my people. Is there an issue with74872863_PcmBks1UIEKyLcb.png that?"

Phyre is a bit of a jokester and a flirt, but can be very assertive and forceful at times. She doesn’t vent to anyone unless she’s overwhelmed with emotions, so most of the time she’s fighting her thoughts and emotions herself. She can sometimes be very manipulative and rather toxic. After the death of her parents, she became really controlling of people she cared about. Cascade was mostly the one who had to deal with this, with Ri being the second and Nate being the third. She didn‘t want to lose anyone else anymore, and wanted to control their lives as much as possible to protect them.

Because of her S-hunter rank, Phyre is very well off, though it won’t be obvious when you first see her as she doesn’t wear anything fancy to indicate it, nor have a very big house. To an outside perspective, she just seems like your average person. She spends tons of time with Catchfire, but occasionally work gets too busy so Phyre either lets her son stay with Nate, or drops him off to a daycare to spend time with other kids his age instead. Though after getting to know his new friends from outside of the daycare more, Phyre will mostly bring Catch to his father since he’s formed a closer bond with his friends.

ABILITY:

Phyre has the power to create and manipulate fire, and, unlike her sister, who can only produce her water from her hands, Phyre can produce her fire from other parts of her body like her feet. Being S-ranked, Phyre is also extremely good with combat. She‘s better at close combat though, as using her fire powers at longer distances tires her out more despite all the training.

BACKGROUND

BACKSTORY

As a kid, Phyre and her family were happy living in Skanti Town. Phyre and Cascade were really close, though as time went on, Cascade grew to resent Phyre and their parents. She never knew why, but began to dislike the way Cascade acted when she wouldn’t talk to her, which caused them a lot of arguments. Though Phyre still loves her at the end of the day.

One day Cascade left her home when Phyre was 10. Their parents told Phyre that Cascade began disliking them all for no reason until she left. Phyre was very confused, and even angry at Cascade for leaving her own family like that. Years went by when Phyre and her parents were suddenly attacked by a rogue. Phyre managed to escape, though unfortunately her parents didn’t make it.

Phyre had to fend for herself at 12, though it was too difficult for her since she didn’t know a lot about self defense. Her parents were too protective of her and never taught her much, and she hadn’t gotten the chance to take the class yet at school. For months, all Phyre could do was eat the fruits from wild trees and hide from others out of fear that they might be rogues. She kept running, and running. Lucky for her, she ended up in Quartz City, where she was found by some adults, who took her into an orphanage. From there, Phyre learned a lot more about self defense and combat with the other kids. She was extremely invested in it. She wanted to learn so much in order to avoid letting what happened to her parents to her. She never made friends with anyone because of how focused she was in her training.

At 13, Phyre learned about hunters. She knew at that moment that that’s what she wanted to be. Every single rogue was going to pay for everything they’ve done to others, especially the one that had killed her parents. She was going to find that rogue one day and get her revenge. Phyre continued on with her training and at 16, she left her orphanage in order to train as an official hunter.

HUNTER LIFE

While it was a risk to not continue her studies in her senior years, she luckily worked really hard to be the best hunter she can be, and passed her initial trainings.

At 18, Phyre accidentally ran into her sister while scouting Quartz City. She had so much to tell her, how their parents had died, her adventures afterwards, and many more. Before Phyre could even get past explaining their parents’ deaths, Cascade had mentioned she made a rogue friend. This angered Phyre and told Cascade to leave her “friend” alone. She kept pestering Cascade to tell her where he is so she can dispose of him, but Cascade refused to say another word, and began leaving. Phyre panicked. She didn’t want to lose her sister again. She tried to talk to Cascade and convince her to stay, but they only ended up fighting until Cascade released herself from her sister’s grasp and left. All Phyre could do was watch her go. Sadness and anger tore her from the inside.

After those events, Phyre continued her hunter training, and eventually getting herself to a B-rank, then A, and finally, S. She ended up becoming one of the best hunters at 19. Although this meant she didn’t have as much free time as most people do, most of the time it’s on her own will. She often uses the little free time she did have to have friendly/casual combats with others. Unfortunately Phyre didn’t receive a good reputation among her co-workers due to how serious she can be, and sometimes rather destructive when things don’t go right for her. She was someone popular outside of her station, though Uhkrio took that popularity very quickly despite just being recruited. During her training years, Phyre had figured out that long distance combat isn’t one of her strongest points. She noticed she‘s more likely to get tired when using her fire powers to shoot at longer distances, so she tends to go for short distanced attacks.

A year later, Phyre met Ri and became incredibly close with up until they started dating. Although in just a couple of months, she was dumped by Ri, stating that she was way too overprotective and sometimes even toxic in general, and she wouldn’t change no matter what they told her. Phyre tried to reason with Ri and get them to stay but they simply left. Phyre was so upset about the situation she took her anger out the next day during training, and was so overwhelmed that she ended up venting to one of her only friends at the time, Kimii, although she never specified the reason she was dumped. She never even took Ri’s words seriously and barely changed herself for the better, but still misses her.

TILL DEATH

In just a few weeks, in Concluding Origins, Phyre met Nate, someone she quickly took interest on, though it was more of a rebount. After hearing his story, Phyre found out that Nate had encountered Cascade as well. She found new motivation to look for her sister once more, and hope to bring her back to her. Nate helped Phyre look for Cascade, who was back in Iceberg Town, though unfortunately the sisters’ encounter only ended up in a fight. Nate helped Phyre realize why her sister acted that way all these years, and helped the sisters reconcile. Though she never got forgiveness from Cascade, Phyre did get the closure and answers she was seeking. She wishes Cascade could stay with Phyre and strengthen their relationship, but Phyre knows it‘s close to impossible now. Unfortunately, that still wasn’t enough to stop her from trying for the next 3 years.

6 months into her relationship with Nate, Phyre managed to convince him to start a family, eventually having Catchfire. She was afraid of Nate leaving her like Ri did, and thought having Catchfire would keep him with her. Another reason she wanted to have Catchfire was to know what it feels like to have a family again. She already lost her parents and her sister, and even Ri. Phyre felt empty before Catchfire came. She felt he and Nate completed her. Although, in all honesty, she never really loved Nate that much. She liked him for sure, but missed Ri too much to truly fall in love with someone else. She never really cared for him as much as she cared for Ri or her blood relatives, though didn’t want to leave him.

When Phyre was 23, Uhkrio began getting reported more often, getting registered as a rogue just after recently getting fired, and eventually Phyre was tasked to capture or kill him- her choice. She preferred the latter due to being livid when finding out he’s been releasing rogues while working as a hunter. After a failed attempt, she took her anger out in the indoor training area of the station she works at, making a mess of the place. She was given many dirty looks from her co-workers, since it costed them their training time. Needless to say, the situaion didn‘t really help Phyre’s already bad reputation among them.

After finding out Kaizo- the rogue who killed Phyre’s parents- is the same rogue Cascade has been hanging out with, Phyre, at 24, sought out to kill him. This ended up in her having a fight with her older sister. Out of anger, Phyre burned the earrings Cascade had of Kaizo, which made Cascade kill her. Phyre still loves her sister, but was never able to let go of her anger for Kaizo and other rogues, so she never earned her full peace in the afterlife. When she was alive, she had also asked Kami and Nate at some point to find and take care of Cascade if anything ever happened to Phyre. She had also left 60% of what she owned to Cascade, and the other 40% to Kami and Nate.

Phyre sometimes passes by Kaizo, and his new friend, Zipher. In the beginning, she tried to attack him multiple times, but she eventually accepted that spirits cannot be hurt. She sometimes watches over her family, but most of her time is spent giving Kaizo the stink eye.

RELATIONSHIPS

Phyre is mad at Cascade for leaving her family, but loves her till the very end and always tried to find a way to bring her back in Phyre’s life.

Phyre never got over losing Ri and craves the day she would somehow get her back.

Phyre took an interest in Nate, and tried to make something out of their relationship, but in the end, only ever saw him as a friend. She used him as a rebound, and was never actually in love with him, but didn’t want to lose him either.

Catchfire is Phyre’s pride and joy and she was devastated she never got to see him grow up. She loves that he gets to spend time with Cascade at least.

Phyre is pissed that she spent all her life trying to find and kill Kaizo, only to end up dead with him and not even be able to lay so much as a scratch on him.

They were very close since they met, but Phyre never opened up to Kami about anything as others might expect from two people who call each other best friends. They often practice their fighting skills together.

TRIVIA

  • The color of the S-ranked hunter badge was eyedropped from Phyre’s eye color.
  • Phyre lied when she said she and Nate wouldn’t have been able to stop the rogue in Concluding Origins. The station she works at ordered that hunters do not interfere with rogues outside of their city, and she’s just following the orders she got, despite knowing she’s strong enough.
  • Phyre is left handed, though she uses both of her hands for the most part, especially when fighting. When it comes to simple tasks like writing, she uses her dominant, left hand.
  • Phyre puts hearts instead of dots when writing things like periods, i, !, ?, etc.
  • Phyre looks very scary when pissed off.
