ABOUT

74872850_iRsOP2QatM9hT4r.png"I’m sorry- I really am. For everything"

Cascade will act and talk in a childish manner, especially if it’s to be deliberately annoying. She can be pretty sarcastic and sassy at times. She’s smart and fearless, but one of the few things- well, people- she is afraid of is Kami.

Cascade is pretty insecure about herself so she prefers wearing long sleeved attires, and doesn’t like it when people look at directly at her for too long for unknown reasons. She doesn’t like her past being brought up, specifically the times she attacked Ashe and her friends, and especially the time she accidentally killed her sister. She hasn’t told anyone but she gets really uncomfortable if she is reminded of these events, as she still feels really guilty about them. Though Cascade tries not to make her insecurities obvious- all of them. She also doesn’t like her sister being brought up as a topic in general, and hates it even more when Cascade is being compared to her.

ABILITY:

Cascade has the power to create and manipulate water, though can only produce them from her hands. The water she emits are cold in temperature, so the more she uses her power, the lower it- as well as her own body temperature- gets. She is able to use it to the point where the temperature of her water drops so low it turns to ice. The only way it can melt is when Cascade’s body temperature rises back up. She can’t manipulate her ice like she can with her water, just emit them.

Her eyes glow blue to indicate when her water is turning to ice. Her ice and glowing eye mostly comes from her left since it’s the side she uses the most when using her powers. Cascade tries to avoid her body temperature lowering by using as little of her power as possible, especially during the colder seasons, to avoid catching colds. Though manipulating already existing water doesn’t affect her body temperature. She usually just creates swords made out of her water when in combat. Cascade has good reflexes, which is what she mostly relies on in battle since she doesn’t like using her powers a lot.

DESIGN

  • Her eyes glow when using her ice powers. Usually on her left eye because that’s the side she uses the most.
  • 4 fingers. Human form has 5 fingers tho.
  • Her torso (anthro only), tail, and legs are long

BACKSTORY

As a kid, Cascade never really got even a decent amount of love she needed from her parents. She and Phyre were extremely close when they were younger, but as time went on, she grew to resent her along with their parents. Their parents always favoured Phyre, and were uncaring for their older daughter. Eventually, Cascade was unreasonably kicked out by her parents and was left to fend for herself at the age of 12 after yet another argument with them. Unknown to her family, she never actually went too far off, and remained in Skanti Town. Cascade struggled to fend for herself since she was still young, though fortunately knew a little bit about self defense. While her parents were busy pampering her sister, Cascade had a lot of free time and less restraint to be able to train herself. Finding food was the most difficult part, and Cascade would usually just steal from others as that seemed to be an easier option most of the time, and they had better food compared to what she could find in the forests.

At 14, she‘s been completely capable of taking care of herself for a while now, though it was mostly self defense until she can run away as she never bothered learning a lot. One day she met Kaizo. Apparently she was in the rogue’s territory, which Cascade didn’t care about. Kaizo never attacked her straight away, so she assumed he was all bark and no bite, and it’d be easy to run away from him. Kaizo ended up asking her questions and bonding with her instead, which Cascade was weirded out about at first since rogues don’t typically form a connection with anyone. Though eventually she began to like Kaizo, and he let her stay with him in his territory. She was never one to be open about her past, more specifically anything about her family, but she was always willing to listen to Kaizo whenever he wanted to talk about his own past. It was mostly him ranting about his dad though. The little sentences Cascade ever mentioned about her family, however, were only her talking about how much she hated them and treated her like trash, but never elaborated. Despite spending time with one, Cascade was never a rogue herself and doesn’t actually want to kill anyone. Though she doesn’t really care about Kaizo’s killing hobby. If she isn’t the one who’s killing the person, she doesn’t think it’s any of her business. Kaizo also occassionally brought Cascade to Killious Kingdom. Since Kaizo used to live there, he was trusted enough for the current ruler to allow Cascade as a frequent visitor. She grew very close with the kingdom’s princess, Vezcta, with all her visits.

Cascade also met Ashe at 17 back in Skanti Town, and the two talked for a bit, with Cascade developing a strong attachment for her new friend rather quickly. These were the very few times she had any form of confidence, thinking she had a chance to form a closer and deeper relationship with Ashe, especially since she apparently just broke up her other relationship with Ice. She thought this could be a good opportunity to be her next closest companion and best friend. But Cascade didn’t know how to act on it or what to think of it. She acted too affectionate towards her for two people who just met, and didn’t realize she was overstepping boundaries. The moment Cascade was pushed away by Ashe, all the waves of insecurity she had poured on her. She felt like Ashe was telling her she isn’t good enough and that no one would ever care about her. She lost all her feelings for Ashe, but never got over the anger she felt from the rejection. She also felt jealous towards Ice since he was able to grow closer to Ashe and still be close friends even after their break up.

At 20, she was venturing out in Quartz City when Cascade suddenly encountered Phyre. She remembered all the pain she felt from her family, but at the moment, it didn’t bother her so much. She was happy to see her sister again and wanted to catch up. She decided to try and have a talk with Phyre, just like they used to. She only managed to tell Phyre about her “new rogue friend” when Phyre snapped and told her to stay away from him. This made Cascade annoyed and she knew that there was no point in talking to her sister now. Their parents clearly corrupted her and talking to her now would be like talking to a brick wall. Cascade tried to leave, only to be held back by her little sister who begged her to stay. Anger continued to engulf Cascade. Cascade managed to release herself from her sister’s grasp and ran away.

MAIN STORY

Just after that, Cascade ran into Ashe again. She remembered all the anger she felt when she got rejected, and, out of insecurity, attacked Ashe as revenge when it was shown that her ex-friend’s feelings for her hasn’t changed. Though Cascade was eventually chased off by Kamiand her friends, who came to Ashe’s rescue. Due to her lack of fighting skills, it was rather easy to chase her off. After that, Cascade tried to get over it all. She was still angry, but tried to push it along with her insecurity down. She spoke about this experience with Kaizo, who wanted to kill them over it. This is also where Cascade found out that Ashe was the former Killious princess before Vezcta.

Losing Kaizo was the hardest part of her life since he was the only one Cascade considered as family, and who ever actually showed love for her. She didn’t realize until it was too late that someone did love her this whole time. She regretted not appreciating Kaizo enough. She only ever saw him as someone who kept her company, but she realized that he was always like a brother to him. Ashe’s rejection made her feel like she had no one to care for her, but she did, and now he’s gone. She’s alone again. While tempted, Cascade didn’t have the heart to kill Lex- the one who killed Kaizo- over it. Cas knew nothing would change if she killed Lex. Besides, she wasn’t stupid enough to kill her just for the sake of it, knowing it would cause future problems. Cascade simply ran away angrily, though in tears.

Phyre somehow found Cascade again almost 2 years later, this time with Nate. Phyre kept pestering Cascade again and again, though eventually, the next day, she managed to get Cascade to talk. In all honesty, Cascade never really wanted to open up about her feelings about why she hated her family so much. But she was so caught up in the moment that she just let it all out. Unfortunately, she didn’t think that would change Phyre‘s mind. It opened Cascade’s little sister to new information, but that was about it. Cascade again chose to not stay with Phyre, but that didn’t stop her little sister from trying to change her mind for the next 3 years.

At 26, Cascade had another argument with Phyre after her little sister found out Kaizo was the one who killed their parents. Cascade was so enraged that she accidentally killed Phyre, alongside discovering her ice. After Phyre’s death, Cascade ended up living with Nate and his friends in Leaflet Village, although her every move was constantly watched by Kami. Nate had been kind to Cascade in all of their encounters. She didn’t trust nor took a liking to him at first, being ‘one of Ashe’s friends’, but eventually grew attached to him. Nate helped Cascade realize all her mistakes, making her deeply regret all her wrongdoings towards Ashe and her friends.

POST-AHR ARC

Cascade was able to somewhat reconcile with Azher and Rhen a few months later. They lived in the same village too, so it was hard to avoid them, especially since they were friends with Nate and the others. Though she preferred avoiding everyone who was involved in her bad actions because of how guilty she felt. More months passed and Cascade ended up in a huge fight with Kami, but afterwards, the two were finally able to work things out. While going through Serene City to prepare for Kami’s birthday, Nate managed to convince Cascade to try and talk to Klaire, Glacile, and Lex next, to attempt reconciliation with them too. They all eventually forgave her, with Lex being the most willing and Klaire the most reluctant. Though deep down, Cascade still felt guilty, and didn’t think she deserved any of their forgiveness- not that she was ungrateful for it of course.

After a year has passed, when Cascade and her friends were back in Serene City, she met Aizen, supposedly one of Kami’s exes. The two got along pretty well, and ended up becoming best friends pretty soon.

Cascade had gone through multiple nightmares about Phyre’s death since that day. The nightmares caused her to unintentionally activate her ice in her sleep, something she never learned to control. She never told anyone what her nightmares were about. At 29, after another one of her nightmares, Nate eventually convinced Kami and Cas to let Kami mentor her so she can control her ice. After 3 year’s worth of training, and eventually opening up to Kami about her nightmares, Cascade was finally able to control her ice and find peace.

RELATIONSHIPS

Cas hates Phyre but has never wanted to kill her sister. She doesn't know if she'll ever get over the night when she had accidentally done so.

He was like a big brother to Cas, and she felt like a piece of her died when he did.

She felt a strong attachment towards Ashe as soon as they met, and it shattered her whole world when Ashe did not feel the same form of attachment, and actually tried to avoid Cas due to her pushy her behaviour. Luckily, they’re good friends now, although Cas does still feel awkward sometimes, feeling like she’s not good enough for Ashe.

Slay bestiess

She loves him dearly and would go to great lengths to protect him. Although looking at him sometimes aches her heart as he bears a strong resemblance to his mother.

The two have never been too much in good terms with each other since they first met, having left a bad first impression. But over time, Cas has grown to tolerate Kami- maybe even actually like her sometimes, but would never admit it and would just constalty tease her.
