Hyunwoo

Hyunwoo grew up with rich parents who were mostly absent in his life. His parents would give him money, but the only times he used their money was for snacks and arcade games. He wanted his parents' affection, not their money. He didn't see them giving him money as affection, he wanted to actually spend fun family time with his parents. Both of his parents handle big businesses, so they barely have time for him. When it came to phonecalls, Hyunwoo would be so excited to talk to them, but they always sound cold talking to him. Hyunwoo at first gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking it's because they're so busy that they barely have the energy to talk to him. However, when Hyunwoo's birthday came, his parents never contacted him that day. Hyunwoo spent his birthday with some of his friends, but he wondered if his parents were ever going to show up to their house or at least call him. The never did and Hyunwoo began to dislike them for that. They didn't even contact him the next day and when Hyunwoo called them to ask what happened, they said they forgot his birthday, but they never apologized.

Hyunwoo would sing, dance, and rap to KPOP songs saved in his phone to distract himself. When he heard his classmates planning to audition for KPOP companies, Hyunwoo decided to do the same. He auditioned for many companies and when he finally got accepted into one company, he trained without telling his parents. When he was given the option to live in the dorms, he had to ask his parents' permission to live in them since he was still a minor. Surprisingly, his parents accepted and Hyunwoo got to live in the dorms. When Hyunwoo first started training, his trainers were kind and didn't hold back on constructive criticism. Hyunwoo listened to them well and managed to improve fast thanks to them. However, when the trainers changed, Hyunwoo couldn't stand them. They found out who his parents are and they expected him to be the jack of all trades, but every time Hyunwoo shows the best of his skills, they'd talk him down as if he was supposed to be perfect from the start. Hyunwoo despised the treatment and would even argue with the trainers. He knows how bad this looks on him, but he hated being talked down.

Just when Hyunwoo thought he could get away from those expectations and be treated like a regular person, as soon as the trainers find out his family background, it's as if they stopped doing their job properly and let Hyunwoo handle things on his own. It hurt Hyunwoo and he felt like he couldn't rely on anyone. People called him a spoiled brat when they know nothing about him. This experience hurt Hyunwoo and he was thinking about leaving the company, until he made a new friend. Myungsoo, a fellow trainee approached him and wanted to chat with him. At first, Hyunwoo didn't want to talk to him, assuming he was like the others, but Myungsoo was genuinely curious about Hyunwoo as a person, so Hyunwoo talked. Myungsoo was Hyunwoo's first friend in the company, and was the first person to understand Hyunwoo. He didn't judge him first and instead listened to his story. Myungsoo even told the other trainees not to judge Hyunwoo and would stand up for Hyunwoo. This help the trainees give Hyunwoo a second chance, so Hyunwoo was able to befriend the other trainees.

Even after MESSIRE debuted, Hyunwoo's parents didn't contact him, but Hyunwoo didn't mind. At this point, he'd be surprised if his parents even called him to see how he was doing. He's a bit jealous at how well his members get along with their parents, but Hyunwoo saw MESSIRE as his family, so he cared less about his parents. Hyunwoo hates being asked questions about his parents or family life, so he'd avoid the topic. Hyunwoo believed that his relationship with his parents can be redeemed, but he'd rather have his parents call him instead since he always felt stupid feeling excited to talk to them when he calls them first. Hyunwoo doesn't think this will ever happen, but at least he has MESSIRE by his side.
