Lin Thorne's Links
Twins, although Alya is technically older. Once tried to desperately earn her attention, but either was ignored or met with anger and general violence. Eventually gave up. Tries to avoid her now.
Twins. Is content to burn down the bridge that is her relationship with Lin. They had their fair share of problems that only became exacerbated after Rose’s death. Doesn’t acknowledge that he exists.
Strained relationship due to a less than ideal childhood. Lin tried time and time again to reach out to his family, but had his every attempts brushed aside. He grew to resent Atlas for never being home and for not seeming to care about him, to the point of giving up trying to talk to his brother entirely. He 'disappeared' from town without warning or telling anyone to travel around to investigate the supernatural-- and later legitimately disappeared after running into a gateway into the void. He doesn't believe his family would notice his disappearance... and even if they did, Lin doesn't want to be found. It'll all be easier if they went back to pretending like he didn't exist.
Older brother of Lin's. They have a very strained relationship as a result of a rather troublesome childhood. Atlas was never home as he was constantly working in an attempt to keep the family afloat, leaving little if any time to spend with his siblings. When Lin left without warning, Atlas embarked on a journey to find his brother that eventually led to his death and entry into the void. He's still searching for him, but something tells me Lin doesn't want to be found...
If you didn’t want Lin to trespass on your crime scenes, stop putting the crime on top of the mysteries. Was his usual aloof cryptic self, up to the (semi-illegal) antics he usually gets up to, much to Casey’s displeasure. Nearly died at one point, but was proven wrong in his belief that nobody cared about him and whether he lived or died when the man took a risk to save his ass. Slowly, Lin began opening up bit by bit to the comforting presence of a friend and learning to be vulnerable and linger again. Shows his love in small, gentle gestures (and also shenanagins and bullshit). Detective(affectionate, butter dispenser)
Casey and Lin met in Casey's first cycle, when he was still a spry detective of 25. While he was originally annoyed by Lin's continued intrusions into HIS crime scenes, after a moment of being around the man, he found himself. intrigued. By him. Annoyance grew to tolerance, which grew to friendship. A good turn for the both of them. While he often acts annoyed by lin's antics, he does genuine care for the other, and if nothing else, is kept on his feet by what bullshit lin's managed to pull this time. Annoyance(affectionate).
"hey wanna prank casey by shaving off his scruff. imagine how funny would that be."
"Oh my god. Yes, absolutely. there is nothing I'd like to do more."
Cousins. Cryptid to cryptid communication.
Cousins. Thinks he's a little strange, but still kind!
"yeah... haha. ..." Was once friends with Bree. For a time, they had a nice bond together, but even then there were certain things lurking in the background. When Bree asked Lyn for some help on her vision for the town, he became... wary. It seemed like his value lay only in his blood and his effectiveness as a tool rather than a valued friend. And if there’s one thing he hates most, it’s the feeling of being used. Tried to leave, but got locked in a dream bubble of sorts to prevent that.
"Silly Lyn, I'm your ONLY friend. :)" Employer to Lin in one of his later cycles. Filled the unfortunate void the death of his dear friend, Casey, left. Gave him everything he could ever want- the attention he always sought, love, affirmation, and acknowledgement. All she asked for was a little help on her project! When Lyn tried to leave... well. That's simply not allowed! Locked him away in her basement to keep taking that precious honey blood of his. Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.

"I Sent You Pictures Of My Domain And Of The Grand Majesty of Space, Please Respond."
When Sloth first met Ryan, he wasn’t in the best of places. The lone kid sitting at that bus stop didn’t expect for anyone to notice him, much less care enough to extend a hand outward for a stranger. That first meeting meant more to Ryan than Sloth could ever know. It was the first time in a while he felt just… seen. Just for himself. The signature and treasured bee charm that every one of his cycles carries on them was in fact a gift won at one of those trips to the arcade. However, Sloth might’ve rubbed off on him a little bit too much, mainly in that apathetic disposition that can be quite irritating to break through. Despite the passage of time, those memories are recalled quite fondly. But if he knew…
Acted as a supportive chill uncle figure when they first met, with Sloth in the guise of a human. He knew the purpose of their fateful meeting was to slowly set the trail to lead Ryan to his inevitable disappearance, but he still tried to make things pleasant in their acquaintanceship. He would take him out to places like the arcade and either let out his troubles or simply take his mind off things. He never expected anything in return and made sure to let Ryan know that, after all he genuinely just wanted to do something nice...despite it not softening the ending blow. He knows it's only a matter of time he and someone else finds out the truth too, and he accepts the consequences that will come with it. He was never meant to be a truly good person anyways...
*gets down on one knee* “will u…. start a blog with me?” Pre-void, the two of them had run something of a paranormal investigation blog together. Ryan was the face of the little series, as Cameron was typically the one recording, but the cryptic man was extremely guarded about personal matters and about himself in general. His apathetic and distant take on life made getting close to him… difficult, in a sense. Even though Ryan harbored something of an affinity for his partner in crime, he never let such a vulnerability show. The two of them found their way into the void when they stuck their nose into the wrong place at the wrong time. Though, knowing him, if he were to meet his old camera man again, he might dismiss him out of hand. After all, they’re nothing more than strangers. So why bother, why try?
"id want nothing more <3" Pre-void, Cameron and Ryan had a paranormal investigation blog, and Cameron was the camera man for the series, though his true passion had always been more photography. Plus, he was a bit of skeptic himself, not believing in what he hadn't caught on camera himself. He was more than happy to follow along with whatever his partner wanted though, if it meant he could just be with Ryan. He loved the blog because he loved Ryan. And Cameron sure loved to try and get candid shots of Ryan, anytime he could catch a genuine smile from the apathetic fella was enough for him, knowing him was enough. But it always felt like he was behind some wall, after all. He's just the Camera Man. He's a disposable film. Despite it all, he... Doesn't want to be left behind again. Cameron tries not to project the rage he feels at feeling abandoned and overlooked onto Ryan, but if they were to see each other again, he may lash out.
Is somewhat weirded out by the pawn’s ability to perceive him. Tried to glean what he could, but didn’t get much from Aster. Not that it matters anymore, with him being in the basement and all that. But sometimes you can get surprised by unexpected allies (..?)
“if i had a nickel for every time someone stole my face, i’d have 5 nickels, which isn’t much but this needs to stop happening.”
"it makes me sick to see the similarities..except you actually start with something. you gain things meant for you now and then, and sometimes you lose them. but even that doesn't change the fact that you at least had something to miss. and I really, *really* hate how that makes me feel."
“what if we teleported butter from the grocery store into Casey’s apartment and just. put butter on everything.” Pals! The two cryptids that keep harassing the detective. Ness is one of the few people that match Lin’s energy and tendency to go off into random bullshit.
"i dont see why not" Ness thinks Lin is funny, a good friend. Despite his better judgement, he can't help but find himself enjoying their time together. Ness can only hope they'll meet again one day, another cycle.
The wastes are a difficult environment to survive in. To find someone who seems almost untouched by the destruction and hazards that surrounds the land is quite the anomaly! Considering how Honey Bat reacted to the flattery and the man’s prodding to know them better.. well, it’s well worth a little investment to keep them around. They were his protecter, a bodyguard, and maybe even something Honey Bat had wanted so desperately- a friend.
But there is nothing they hate more than the feeling of being used. They caught on, eventually.
Misses her dearly. When Alya wasn’t feeling amicable, and while Atlas was busy spending all his time working, the two of them would spend the most time together. They shared a mutual love of dancing. When Rose died, it made the rift that divided the family worsen. No matter how hard he tried to reach out to his siblings, they would never truly look his way.
[In the maze that is the distortion of your old family home, you find her smiling. Playing with something else that’s wearing your face. Unable to distinguish the difference between you and it. Unable to see *you.* He thought she knew him best. Of course, why did he expect anything different?]
ah geez, his brother’s got a kid now? That’s new. To be fair, it’s his fault for staying out of view of any family affairs… Lin understands why Atlas had to chose Navi over him, but it still stings a little nonetheless. He doesn’t hold it against Navi. Maybe, when the dust settles, Lin can be the cool chill uncle to the kid. They both are little pranksters at heart.
Uncle Lin-Lin!
"hey do you take interviews."
"Oh! Hm, well, since I'm not doing much right now.. why not!"
He- makes them nervous! Out of all of them, he’d be quickest to catch onto things, even if he wouldn’t openly show it. Maybe they’re scared of what he would think of them, knowing it’s not and will never be the same.
