June Valencia

August: was purposefully kept/discouraged from interacting with August for much of her life, only really having occasional conversations with him when they were rarely caught alone. Also was conditioned to see August as deformed, lesser, wrong and didn’t realize that treating him that way was actually Bad and Gross until she got older (around 9-10ish) and really then regretted her actions, but didn’t really know how to fix it + knew that she was still supposed to treat him that way. Wants to get closer with August, and also apologize, but believes that August probably doesn’t like her and doesn’t know what to do. Looks up to August for the few times she’s caught him rambling on his knowledge of history and such (and later once she gets to know him better, envies his hope and bravery against the frankly awful situations he’s been put in).

July: surprisingly has a good relationship with July. July has always adored his youngest sibling and dotes on her, also let’s her hang out while he is working or doing things. For a while June looked up to July and thought he was cool for his fighting prowess in the way he can command a room. However, (apart from September) July has also been one of the creatures that has bullied and abused August the most, and June struggles to reconcile the parts of her brother that she knows are good versus the more nasty and twisted parts of him she has begun to realize are there. 

September: isn’t super close with September but September does love her (or at least, the idea of her) and June is aware of this. September is sometimes genuinely affectionate and caring towards June (physical affection, occasional gifts if June does something September likes) but this love definitely has,,, conditions. September likes some of June’s interests and dislikes/discourages some of her other ones. September confuses June, particularly with how September is outwardly very smiley + friendly + accommodating, but how this is mostly just a veil for her ruthless, calculating personality. The callousness of September’s actions (in regards to the politics of Valencia house, or among other houses) often scares June. It’s not something she wants to be a part of, but she knows she kind of has to because it’s her house, her mother.

Ame: for much of the early years of Ame coming to Valencia, he kept himself, August, or September. Ame either avoided or outwardly disliked the rest of August’s siblings as they were often mean to August. This included June for a couple years, but Ame was less cold to her than he was July because she was literally like 7 lmao. June was also scared of Ame for a while, due to hearing rumors about storm spirits, along with September’s emphasis that Ame was “a dangerous beast to be tamed. But even then, he would still always be a beast”. Ame and June still keep their distance from each other now, but more because that’s just what they are used to and it’s hard to change that dynamic. If one thing, June is glad that August has Ame to protect him, and as a friend.
