About:

   Oriph was once a penniless ruffian in his youth, taken from the streets to become a serving boy. He cleaned the homes of the most elite within the greatest empire of Osed; work was grueling and there was little incentive other than a soft-enough place to sleep and one meal to (cherish and) eat.
The matron of his orphanage- if one could call it that, rather than a child's cleaning service- took Oriph under her wing and, when the boy was free of his duties for the day, would give him corrections and lessons on life in general. Their time together was short-lived, and for her troubles of treating Oriph like one of her own children, the matron was sentenced to death for this egregiousness.
His stay at the orphanage lasted the rest of his childhood, however, and even now Oriph is quite unsure of himself, expecting direction as he was once taught by his guardian, as trust is not often shared in Osed.

His bright hair often beckoned others, as it is quite rare to see in Osed, much less on a humanoid; throughout his life, Oriph has seemed to attract danger and unsavory people, who attempt to prey on his helpless aura and appearance. However, Oriph himself is a very sturdy little man, and is adept at appearing more put together than he usually feels. It is quite easy to break him down, though, and despite living in a dark, frightening world, he often underestimates others, and falls into peril frequently. A single word to describe this man would be naiveté.

The Emperor once caught a glimpse of Oriphnae from afar when touring one of his many towns, and was taken by his beauty. Oriph was immediately forced into marriage with this totalitarian ruler, given little choice, despite this not being a conventional marriage among royal elites.
With this union has come great physical comfort and wealth to Oriphnae... However, there isn't much of a positive in this union for Oriph, in his own personal judgment, as he still is not used to being given so much attention-- much less attention that treats him as an object to his new peers. He is often degraded and mocked despite his new position, and told he is nothing but a bride, or a doll for the Emperor to pick up and play with. It happens to be entirely true, too.

Notes and trivia:

• He is rarely seen without his main 'assistant', Klin, who was tasked to keep an eye on Oriph in the case of disobedience, as the Emperor adores Oriphnae's beauty and nothing more.
• Though he is more learned than most other orphan ruffians, Oriph is barely literate, and is not exactly graceful compared to other royalty.
• His appetite is weak, as he is still used to the lack of sustenance he received in his younger years.
• He bears the last name of a parentless humanoid (all humanoids on Osed use this naming convention, depending on their upbringing).
• Did not have his ears pierced until he was taken in and wedded to the Emperor. Oriph's accessories are hand-picked out by his husband at the start of every day.
