Xanthe is a natural leader, though not quite in the same way as the other squad leaders are. Compared to the commanding, loud presence of Phaedra, or Dagda, her leadership is quiet, yet bold, soft spoken, but assertive. Xanthe's strength is in seeing and understanding others: how they function, how they act, what they feel. It's not even something she really needs to focus on - she just instinctively can tell. This works greatly to her advantage in getting others motivated, ready to do their jobs, but also comes with a downside:

if she knows so much, so easily, it becomes very tempting to use the knowledge to her advantage - to use the weaknesses of lions against them, so they'll do as she asks. She hasn't done it yet, though and never plans to - if she's going to be a leader, she wants to be a good one. No tricking others here.
