Dagda was a fairly high ranking lion among the army of decay in the past. He'll admit now that he did a lot of morally grey things back then - in the constant battles, he played dirty, he held hostages and set ambushes. It was only after the battle was lost, and both trees burned, that he had to come to realize that perhaps he wasn't fighting in the right way.

He left and walked out into the middle of the woods, and he found a portal of blue light. Dagda made sure his shovel was secure over his shoulder, and walked through the portal that led out to the middle of a vast grassland.

Dagda decided he was going to try and be different here, in this new place. He wandered the land and fight to help those who needed assistance. Over several weeks, he gained a reputation as a helpful traveler - the green lion with the shovel and something to prove. He gained enough fame as a decent fighter that some townsfolk pointed him towards a group of lions on the northern edge of the Skyedge who were fighting monsters. And Dagda saw this as the perfect opportunity to improve himself further.
