She's a proud, brilliant, strong lion with nothing to prove - Phaedra thinks she's proven herself already. As one of the best fighters in the Regiment she's respected by others, and isn't afraid to let folks know that. When it comes to leading lions down into the depths to fight against the monsters, she loves the thrill of it all, the fun of knowing that a strategy paid off. Phaedra knows it's not a game, though - every lion under her command when below is important to her. She doesn't like leaving anyone behind.

She can be quite hard on others - she expects the best from everyone, expects every lion to give it their all - and when someone's slacking the whole camp is bound to hear about it. In the end, though, she makes sure things get done, in her own, loud way. Brontes appreciates that - she's a louder counterpart to his quieter, more diplomatic self.

History

Phaedra hails from Moonrise - the vast desert to the northeast was her home when she was young. She grew up knowing the legacy of her parents, and all that she needed to live up to. Both of her parents were town guards, and some of the best. When they were in town, people looked up to them. Phaedra spent her childhood admiring how people liked her parents, and she soon came to the conclusion that the way to do good in life was to be a good, strong fighter.

She began training, every day, running through the streets and jumping around obstacles, and breaking up small fights. When Phaedra became an adult, she joined the town guard herself, for a time. It was fulfilling for a while, but life spent guarding wasn't as exciting as child her had thought. There was so much standing around, after all. So she resigned, and traveled around the world, a warrior and adventurer for hire alongside her brother, Okeanos. Her wanderings led her to Starheart's Regiment down in the plains of another kingdom, and when she asked to stay, Brontes said yes. Though she would be hard on nearly everyone whose fighting skills weren't as good as hers, she would meet another Squad Leader who would win over her heart with his bumbling brilliance. She'd fall in love with Dagda.

As a squad leader, Phaedra is responsible for keeping a group of soldiers in line. There's monsters down there in the ruins, and fighting back the beasts takes collaboration, courage, and character. No way is anyone running away from a fight under Phaedra's watch, not when it can be won with some creative thinking.

She knows she looks a little bit scary, and often uses that to her advantage in keeping the duelists and scrappers in line. Appearance doesn't mean everything, of course, but there's something about Phaedra's fanged visage and narrowed eyes that makes people listen to her. Good. She doesn't like to have to shout more than necessary.

Some lions call her mean, uncaring. That's not really the truth. She just wants to make sure everyone on a mission gets out safe, alive, and able to return home. Sometimes, you need to be harsh to make that happen. Such is life.

She's had the position almost since she arrived at the group. The proud lion appeared before Brontes one day and offered her leadership skills to keep everyone in line and alive down in the Ruins. Brontes agreed, and ever since, she's been an impressive pillar of the group.
