Personality

Brontes is a lion on a mission. Ever since he lost his family to the Ruins, he's been haunted by his near-death experience. He finds himself constantly second-guessing the statements he makes, and worrying that the group he's put together will fall to pieces. Bron has near constant nightmares, ones that wake him up in the dead of night, seeing things in the darkness that aren't really there.

Despite all this, however, he's well respected by the rest of the Regiment. Despite his fears, he's brave, not hesitating to put himself in harm's way for his people. He's also a very kind soul, and can often be found speaking with random lions, just to get to know them and see how they are doing. It's the obvious care that Brontes has for everyone else that has lions truly respect him as their leader. At his heart, he's an honest, good man struggling to put a stop to the thing that turned his life upside-down.

History

Brontes was running as fast as he could. The blue lion could hardly see in front of him, so he didn't dare look behind. All that he knew was that his parents and his siblings had been grabbed by the shadows, and that he had to get out of there before they got him, too. His family had decided to explore an interesting series of tunnels, and things had been nice at first. A bit spooky, for sure, but all had seemed well - that is, until the shadows had formed into a terrifying beast and attacked. Bron had always been a fighter, so he had fought back at first. The shadows multiplied, though, and soon there was nothing to do but flee.

So here he was - running for his life in tunnels where he couldn't even tell where he was going. The walls themselves seemed like they were moving in on him, and the screeches behind were getting ever closer. A stray brick nearly tripped him up, but he got back to his paws and kept going. After what felt like forever, Brontes saw a faint light off to his left. He turned the corner, paws skidding on earth and stone, and ran for what he hoped so desperately was some sort of safety.

As he emerged into the sunlight, he felt nearly blinded - the harsh light was so different from the dark of before. The shadowy creatures followed him out into the light, and as soon as his eyes adjusted he saw that there were cliffs on every side around him. His paws were already so tired, he didn't think he could climb out before he was overtaken. He whirled around and prepared to fight to the death.

He only took a few swipes before he was taken down. As he thought the end was coming, a different sort of shadow flew overhead and landed in front of him. The shadowy beasts growled and swiped, but eventually retreated. Brontes looked to see who his savior was, and saw another lion standing there.

"Are you alright?" she asked, concern apparent on her face. Bron tried to answer, but everything was going dark. He sighed, hopeful that everything would be okay. The world went black.

. . . .

When Brontes next awoke, he felt that everything had gone wrong. His mysterious savior was by his side, and he turned to her. "Did anyone else come out of those tunnels?" he asked, voice strained.

"No. I'm sorry," she said. "It was all I could do to get you to safety. What do you think you were doing down there?"

"I - my family and I, we were just traveling. Then things went awfully wrong. None of us expected any of that to happen." Bron said.

"Well, you're quite poorly informed. Those beasts are all over the place below ground. You have no idea how many poor souls I've had to save."

"It's a regular thing? That can't be right. There has to be something I can do to stop that..." Bron was reflective, thinking. If he made up some plan to help ensure no one else got hurt by those beasts - now that would be magnificent.
