About

Alana's always been a shy girl, keeping her head down and her mouth shut as much as possible. In a school full of bullies, that was always just the best course of action--especially when you've been labeled as a 'Teacher's Pet' and an 'easy target.' She has friends, and treasures them dearly, but is simply too shy to try and approach and befriend others. Her game plan? Just talk to as few people as possible and survive till graduation.

After an incident with an asteroid where she got superpowers, she started discovering what all she was fully capable of. She's growing into a more confident version of herself, more willing to speak up and speak out... except she's still incredibly shy.

Notes

  • Loves to wear green and floral colors like yellow, pink, purple, etc.
  • Often prefers to stay covered up with hoodies and jeans, but on corageous days could be found in a skirt or a tanktop.
  • Her first hero outfit is a green and pink tshirt, jean capris, and pink sneakers with black laces.
  • Her second hero outfit consists of a black leather jacket, a green t-shirt, a pink tulip petal skirt, dark green leggings, and black boots.
  • Before she got her powers, she needed glasses. However, her vision is slowly getting better. Yes this is an excuse to draw her without glasses.
  • In her old design, she had straightened (permed) hair. In her new design, she has shoulder-length braids.

Personality

Friendly Reserved
Polite Blunt
Clever Foolish
Sensitive Tough
Brave Timid
Careful Reckless
Sincere Deceptive
Diligent Lazy
Calm Irritable
Humorous Serious

A shy, quiet teacher's pet in the beginning--as she learns to control and strengthen her abilities, she in turn strengthens herself. She loves making friends, if she can muster the courage to talk to others. Once she befriends you, though, she'll defend you fiercely--to the best of her abilities, anyhow. And she's more than open to goofing off with those she trusts.

Likes

Plants

Even before she got her plant powers, she's always had a fondness for gardening and wandering the forest near her city. She loves collecting and scattering wildflower seeds! She especially loves sunflowers, water lilies, and tulips--but its rare to find a plant she doesn't like

Sweets

Especially chocolates and cookies, but she'll give any candy a shot! She's also a big fan of Skittles and green apple-flavores sweets. Show her a dessert menu? She'll find something to try!

Animals

Especially cats, hedgehogs, butterflies, and bunnies. Honestly has considered being a veterinarian when she grows up--the healing part would be easier now, what with her powers, but all the math and science she'd need to get a degree? That idea's on the backburner for now...

Singing

She loves to sing in private, or with close trusted friends. Wouldn't be opposed to being in a band... if it was with her friends. Has tossed around the idea of featuring on one of Shannon's, CJ's, or Brian's songs, but is always too awkward when they asked. But if no one knows its her on the Internet...

Dislikes

Blood

She's had to get used to it, what with being the team healer, but it always squicks her out. Sometimes she has nightmares where she fails... she constantly worries that one day, when the team needs her most, her powers will just. Stop working. Even a little bit of blood makes her queasy.

Needles + Other Medical Stuff

She'd run from the doctor if they let her. She can't remember any particular incident that made her scared of the doctor's office, she just. Is. Usually she can keep her fear under control long enough for a basic appointment, but she dreads the yearly checkup...

Being Cold

Puts on a hoodie the instant the weather drops near 60 degrees F. It doesn't help that it makes her powers weaker--she gets all achy, and sleepy, and feels like she's so brittle her fingers will crumble to dust. That never happens, but it always comes to mind.

Being Objectified/Obsessed Over

She barely even likes being perceived. It's rare that people pay any attention to her, it seems, but when it's this kind of attention? She'd rather you ignore her existence entirely, thanks.

Powers

Plant Manipulation

Can summon vines and/or roots from the ground that can then become barriers to block attacks, grow large knife-sharp thorns to be used against enemies, create nets and vices that trap enemies/tie things shut. As a last resort, she can sort of Doc Ock herself with vines growing directly out of her back to let her move around with her arms and legs free--however, it's incredibly painful for her, so it's extremely last resort. She can use explosive pine cones as essentially a frag grenade, either creating one with her powers or using one she has on-hand. She can move trees and bushes, and grow trees, flowers and mushrooms - including giant ones. Different plants have different effects.

  • Tulip - Can grow a giant tulip to hide in and slowly draw energy from. The petals are stronger than vine barriers. Often used to seal herself someplace secure to think of a plan in dire situations.
  • Lily Pad/Lotus Flowers - Can grow a giant lily pad/lotus if needing solace on or near a body of water. Lotus flowers don't necessarily provide as much shielding as tulips, but the layers of petals can be more difficult to aim attacks through. The lily pad part is thick as hell. Hard to destroy unless Alana wills it away intentionally. She and the team could dive into the water and hide under a lily pad and survive practically anything that isn't an explosive missile.
  • Roses - Can make rose bushes that release a perfume that makes people sleepy/more suggestive to her commands. Rarely uses unless necessary... or under mind control herself.
  • Dandelion - Can make a giant dandelion--grabbing onto the seeds before they blow away allows for quick air getaway from a situation. Not the fastest mode of transportation, but an option.
  • Daisy - Can make a giant daisy to act as a landing pad if she's falling from a great height. Or just to lay on to get an up-high view.
  • Amanita Mushroom - Can create a giant amanita mushroom with bouncy tops to get up high and bounce around on. A fairy ring of them can be extremely useful to surround a monster with continuous bouncy high vantage points.
  • Spore Mushrooms - Can make large mushrooms that release spores that make those who breathe them in more willing to follow commands the more they breathe in. Once again, rarely used willingly.

Dying plants revivify slowly in her presence--or faster, with intention. When she's used her abilities a lot, or when she wills it so, flowers will bloom where she steps. Using this ability is more difficult in cold environments, and easier in warm sunny environments with lots of plantlife around.

Shapeshifting

Can shapeshift into any animal, real or 'fictional'--there's been plenty of times where she's shifted into an animal that was believed to be fictional (i.e. dragons, giant birds, sphinxes, etc) only to later discover they're not. This power has one caveat; they always have at least some green and/or pink on them. The larger the animal, the more obvious the green and pink is. (Tigers are pink with green stripes, dragons are green with a giant pink gem on her forehead and a pink shimmer in her scales, a mouse is gray with a pink marking on its forehead, a blue jay has green speckles in its feathers and a pink stripe down the beak, a cat is typically calico with green eyes and a VERY pink nose). Can't shapeshift into other people. If she shapeshifts, any injuries she has transfer over--injuring her shoulder/shoulder area would still be injured in any other form she shifts into, scaled up or down according to the animal. Getting injured too badly while in animal form can shock her into her human form.

  • The larger the animal she shifts into, the more lightheaded and emotionally volatile she is afterwards. Tigers, wolves, etc. are fine--pterodactlys and dragons are where she starts to feel funny, being lightheaded and giggly for up to ten minutes on average after shifting back.

Healing

Can heal herself of injuries, though it takes time. Regarding others, with physical contact, physical wounds will start healing, usually fully healed within minutes. No scars are left most times. She cannot heal severed pieces without having the other half, and cannot heal sicknesses, blindness, birth defects, or already-healed over wounds. Can heal poisons from others, but not from herself. Occasionally, if it's a drastic injury, she'll summon vines to wrap around the target, to strengthen her healing powers' affect/contact range.

Spellcasting

A very minor skill, she has been slowly but surely learning spells with Ken's help.

Photosynthesis

Excessively minor, she's slower to get tired/hungry when it's sunny outside.

Side Effects

If she uses her powers too much, she'll feel extremely cold and achy. Shapeshifting into larger forms makes her light headed and emotionally volatile for around 10 minutes after shifting back. If she stays shifted in a specific form too long (ie, 45 minutes or more) she'll have some physical traits of the animal upon initially shifting back for around an hour or two (cold bloodedness, patches of scales, patches of fur, catlike eyes, etc). She has an easier time using her powers in warm, sunny environments with lots of plantlie around, and a more difficult time using them in colder environments.

Summary

55847808_HHbCGVaMf9N5z4q.jpg

Even from a young age, Alana was picked on by her peers. Fortunately, she's had a few friends since the beginning--Brian, who's been her next door neighbor as long as she could remember, and Shane, who she met on the very first day of Kindergarten. She also befriended Will, and together the handful of them did their best to navigate through the school years, meeting more people together and slowly expanding their friend group.

In the third grade, she met Maddi, who eventually moved in to her home and became part of the family. Though she eventually moved to her own treehouse, the two have remained extremely close friends throughout the years--especially since they still go to the same school.

Late Elementary School/Middle School

Unfortunately, not everyone was a big fan of Maddi staying at her house. Nasty rumos about Maddi started circulating around the school and the friend group--they were honestly a bit crazy, and hard to believe, especially since they were actively living together. If half of those things were true, she would have noticed by now. But when rumors started circulating about her? Using details of her life that very few people would've known? She'll admit, she got a bit bitter--until she realized that Will was acting weird ever since the rumors started circulating. After confronting him, he confessed to it and promised to stop, and she thought it was all settled. Of course, she wasn't so lucky.

When she started expanding her friend group--meeting Shannon and Logan and a few others? Wil started getting... clingy. Uncomfortably clingy. She tried to deal with it, to keep the peace and avoid losing a friend, but when he started being racist and sexist alongside it Alana started trying to make her exit. Then he... admitted to having a crush on her? She was honest with him--she just didn't feel the same way. He didn't like that answer, and the friend group damn near imploded with the drama that ensued--Will being clingy but trying to chase everyone else away from Alana, all while she just tried to keep her friends and keep letting Will down gently. Then not so gently. He wasn't getting the message!

Fortunately, with the support of her friends, the group managed to stick together for the most part--just without Will--and they even made a few new friends, with CJ and Taylor! Together, they were ready to weather the coming storm of high school--bullies were still a problem, now stacked with Will's harassment, but long as they stuck together, they could face it all! Right?

High School

High school wasn't going as anyone expected. A few weeks into freshman year, after the semicentennial meteor shower over Kihiro City, she found a meteorite in her front yard. When she touched it, she ended up with superpowers?! On top of that, they met a new kid at school--Ken--who ended up taking the whole 'new superpowers' thing in stride and convinced them to become a team of heroes! Well, okay, in his case, the superpowers weren't new, but it took them awhile to figure that out. Together, they were Disillusions--fighting monsters left and right and facing off against supervillains, their lives had really become something out of the movies!

Of course, there's the stuff they don't show in the movies. All this fighting and adventure really takes its toll--they're just kids, yet they've had to deal with hostage situations and being kidnapped and the weight of the city's expectations on their shoulders, day in and day out. She understands why her parents don't really support her in this--she isn't even sure if she supports herself in this--but she wishes she had some kind of support outside of the team. Not to mention, the nightmares she's been having--failing her team, being under mind control, reality itself not even being real... she's lucky she's got good shoulders to lean on, but she doesn't want to weigh them down too much--if she's feeling this heavy, how do the others feel?

Either way, with her friends by her side, she can get through anything.

Ken Shinigami

Boyfriend

She was intimidated by him at first, not gonna lie, but then she realized he's really just a huge DORK. She can't quite pinpoint when she started crushing on him, though her friends SWEAR it was the moment they first spoke to each other. Whenever it was, feelings between both of them bloomed like a bed of roses, and before too long they were officially dating!

He teaches her about her powers, how to fight and defend herself. She's showing him it's okay to speak up, be open, and blossom into something greater than he can ever imagine.

Sure, he's got a chill around him. All the more excuse to cuddle under the blankets together!

Maddi

Practically Sisters

From the day they first met, they've been close. She's practically family now, though Alana won't hesitate to admit she had a *teeny* crush on Maddi for awhile. Alana's been helping Maddi make new friends, and Maddi's been teaching her how to stand up for herself. And how to throw a punch, too!

Childhood Friends

They've been friends for as long as she can remember. They did grow up in the same neighborhood, after all, just a corner away from each other! She's always thought Brian was cool--a giant nerd, but really cool! Not just anyone can make working robots, after all!

She feels guilty, though. A tiny part of her resents Brian. After all, if she and Brian had never met, her parents wouldn't constantly compare them. And her mom always seemed to belittle what she did, saying Brian was so much smarter and better than her. She just can't measure up.

Besties

They've been best friends since Kindergarten!

She wishes she could do more to help him, but he swears up and down that having her as a friend is more than enough. But still... she worries, you know?

Will Sanders/The Puppeteer

Enemies

They USED to be friends, they'd been friends since Kindergarten. But something... changed, when he started crushing on her, ESPECIALLY after Maddi moved into her house for awhile. He became more antagonistic to their friends, more demeaning to her. By the time he confessed her crush on her, she wasn't sure if she could even call themselves BUDDIES.

Will's not taking no for an answer, and it's getting worse--now he's directing his ire on the whole city, and she can't help but feel guilty. And yet... Will's become such a disgusting person, she could never even FORCE herself to agree to his demands.
