Colette's Links
Colette does not know of her "grandmother" except for the small stories that her mother would tell her. She knows that Adrienne is not a good person, but she also knows that her mother still cared for and saw good in her despite this. She tries to hold that same belief and care for this woman she hasn't met.
To Adrienne, Colette is nothing more than a familiar who betrayed her creator by leaving her to die (despite Colette's leaving was entirely Eva's idea). Considers her a failure of a familiar who needs to be punished for her crimes against her creator.
Colette had always looked up to her mother, and aspired to be as kind as she was. She misses her dearly, and still blames herself for her mother's death.
Eva loves her daughter with all of her heart, and she would do anything to make sure she has every opportunity to be happy. Even if that means giving up her own life.
[Lovers] When she came across Taka--bloody, wounded, and left for dead--Colette couldn't leave him there alone. Stitching up his wounds, she found herself intrigued to the mobster she had stumbled upon. She hadn't expected to find herself falling in love with him as well. Even though the new found feelings frightened her and his dangerous position worried her, Colette kept finding herself drawn to Taka. This time, she knew she wanted to be brave enough to stay with him.
[Lovers] Ambushes, assassination attempts, wars, they're all things Taka is used to; it's how he came to be covered in scars. At one point he thought himself immortal until he got into a nasty incident involving both a rival gang's ambush and a certain assassin. Taka was left in the alley to bleed to death as slowly and painfully as possible, but right as he was at Death's Door Colette was there to help his wounds. He was grateful for her help and had to admit that he liked her looks, but he wouldn't get any closer than that, wanting her to stay away from the criminal underworld. But Fate kept bringing them together no matter how much he resisted and within time he found himself completely hooked on her, keeping her close whenever possible.
Colette loves her son, but she's extremely worried for his well-being due to the dangerous nature of the mob. She feels as if she can't do much to really protect him, but she tries her best to take care of him where she can.
Justis is very fond of his mother, and though he enjoys what he does, he does know how much it worries her. He tries to make sure she doesn't know the extent of much of what he does to try to soften the blow, but he'll take her worrying if it makes her feel better.
Colette sees much of Taka in her granddaughter, and she tries her best to support her as she can, even though Carmen tends to not care much for her attempts at bonding. She loves her granddaughter very much, though, and will always be willing to lend an ear for her.
Carmen loves her grandmother, she really, really does, but she's just so...so soft! It's hard for her to really relate to Colette in any way since they're so different. How on earth her grandfather ended up with a lady like her, she'll never really understand.
Colette feels a very close bond with her grandson, considering that he seems to have similar feelings about the mob. She enjoys talking with Don about the going-on's in his life, and offers support.
His grandmother is the one person in his family that Don doesn't feel like he has to constantly prove himself to, and he takes great solace in her company. He truly enjoys being with her, and feels she's the only one who he can be open about his hesitations towards the mob life with.
[Related] Ellie is Colette's daughter-in-law. She was a bit concerned when she first heard that Justis had fallen for a police officer, but seeing how happy she made him, her fears were quickly put aside. She knows what it's like to lose family, though perhaps not in the same way that Ellie did. She treats Ellie just as much as a daughter as any mother would.
[Related] Colette is Ellie's mother-in-law, though if she's being honest, she still can't believe it. Seeing Nobutaka, Justis himself, and even their child Carmen, just how is he related to someone so calm and soft-spoken like Colette???
