Nicholas is the patron saint of children and repentant thieves. Because of the legend of Santa Claus that has followed him for centuries, Nicholas has significantly more power than the average angel, and he uses it to perform miracles in order to grant gifts to families in unfortunate circumstances. Nicholas prefers to frequent more northern climates, often circling Russia, Siberia, and East Asia. Although he is rather gruff and seems unfriendly at first, he actually has a very big heart and a huge soft spot for children. He dislikes Christmas because of the huge influx of prayers he receives in the month of December, and he hates the icon that Santa Claus has become. Despite hating being associated with the jolly fat man of lore, Nicholas wears a red fur coat because it was a gift from Jesus Christ, who thought the legend quite funny.
Nicholas is targeted by Scratch and although he manages to evade her capture, he is severely injured. The Paraclete leads Scott Lanier to where Nicholas is collapsed in a forest, and the two of them form a covenant so that Nicholas can conserve energy and fall into a restorative hibernation. After recovering enough to return to his normal form, Nicholas agrees to lend Lanier his heavenly strength and teaches him the secrets of angels.
Valentine is Nicholas's best friend. Nicholas has been known to visit Valentine often when he is on that side of the world.
Anthony is more or less Nicholas's rival. While Nicholas often gives people what they want, Anthony devotes himself to giving people what they need, and so the two of them often butt heads over what is best.
Nicholas has curly white hair and a well-trimmed white beard. His pitch black eyes only reflect light when using holy magic, in which they shine with white crosses. He has snow white wings and a halo that he can hide to blend in with humans. His skin is fair, and he wears a red coat with white fur, and white pants tucked into white snow boots.
