Appearance

Morgan is a late 20-something year old PI who is built like a reed, all long and gangly, but is fortunately enough for him, far more durable. He looks like a man who can never catch a break with his worn clothes and dark circles under his narrow eyes from being perpetually underslept. His clean-shaven narrow face, has a crooked nose that's thin bridge that curves in almost an s-shape due to repeated breaks that were never set quite right. Morgan's resting expression makes him look a mix between sad and mildly uncomfortable.

He heavily smokes cigarettes while around other people, tucking a matchbook into his hat for easy access, to cover up the scent of The Doppelganger. While most can't see or hear The Doppelganger, everyone can smell it. A sharp, acrid, a near bleach-like scent that lingers in the air. It also makes everything he owns, and by extent him, smell like that too since it never leaves him alone.

Personality

Life fucking sucks. It's an unfair, miserable event, where bad things happen for no good reason. But, as much as Morgan hates how things are going, he's still scarping along. He wants to be happy so badly, willing stringing himself along with the hope that some distant tomorrow will be better, he refuses to lay down and die until he gets some sort of resolution. A fastidious hard worker, Morgan throws himself into the neverending grind to make ends meet. His job as left him being manipulative even when he means not to be, constantly prying more than he should, due to a deep fearful need to always have the upper hand.

Morgan makes it a big show of him staying clear of anything too deeply involved with the supernatural, but it's too late. He's was already doomed the day that The Doppelganger showed up. You also can't say you aren't involved in the supernatural when you have a favourite ghost to talk to. He's in firm denial of how deep he is into the strangeness of the world, despite it being blatant to everyone else.

Morgan verbally pushes others away, he knows the Doppelganger will try to cut them out of his life if he gets too attached, but will still try to purposely try to make himself a part of people's lives at the same time, interweaving himself so tightly into other people's lives they can't just toss him out. He'll do things such as say he doesn't want to be someone's friend, but that they can call him if they need something PI related and he'll do everything he can to show…they just have to pay him of course. Morgan wants to be a good man and simply be there for the people he's fond of, but even without threat of The Doppelganger pulling some bullshit, the thought of being vulnerable is disgusting to him.

Trivia

  • Hates his first name and omits it whenever he's able to. He usually goes by his last name, Morgan, but he's fine with people calling him his middle name of Isaac instead.
  • Didn't graduate high school
  • Has a box of sea glass that he originally started gathering with the intent of it being something nice to give his family after he found a way to get rid of the Doppelganger. But that was years ago. It's something he keeps on a shelf and tries not to think about too much.

Relationships

The Doppelganger

Unwanted Follower

He's sick of its bullshit. The only thing that Morgan is sure about the creature is that it wants him alone, and that it wants to be what kills him. Sure it can be helpful sometimes, but that doesn't make up for its constant wretched presence in his life.

They never intended to be friends - and Morgan still isn't sure if that accurately describes their relationship- but they got tangled up into each other's lives and secrets. And now…they are at least somewhat close; it's hard to remain distant when someone becomes such a constant in your life. Morgan knows that it's kind of fucked, but he is deeply jealous of Pierce's nonchalant attitude towards death and the supernatural, and his solemn acceptance that they are both simply another fact of life.

While he's not keen on interacting with a Stranger, Ephraim has so far been nothing but kind to him so he hasn't exactly been ignoring him whenever they do happen to run each other.

Lucius

Acquaintance

As far as ghosts go, he's not the worst. The are at least on the same page as far as it goes of neither of them want to be talking to other more than necessary. Lucius answers questions quick and to the point without any of the rambling many other ghosts are prone to.
