Genial guy that comes off as odd almost immediately 

Known for asking strange questions and wanting a genuine discussion about the topic. 

Emil understands that a lot of people he's treating are getting injured in not totally legal situations so he tries to not to pry more than he has to. 

A smart man with a horrible short-term memory. Best with written text and situations associated with strong emotions. He can't tell you what he just ate, but can give you a detailed run down of the plot of a book he read 5 years ago.

Emil is well aware of what he is like, and wishes he could keep it together, but can't. While Emil won't voice it, he does consider himself stupid. Yes he didn't have formal training on being a doctor but is still a passable physician. However he struggles with remembering basic day-to-day things. Great in life or death situations. Crapshoot on if he'll space out during regular tasks.

Likes helping others. Partially out of empathy, partially because he likes feeling valued.

🌕Backstory🌕

Emil's father immigrated to the country at the end of the 1800s(?), and married his mother not long after.

Emil is the third child of his parents and the only son. He grew up in a small town with a population under 500. His father was the town's doctor and a well liked man. The way Emil was growing up is a lot how he is an adult. When he's able to grasp something, he gets a hang of it quickly. He's smart and likes learning. But also he forgets things, like his age, what the cover of a book that he just finished looks like, and what he just ate. 

His father was deeply convinced that Emil was profoundly stupid and didn't really bother with him. Emil idolized his father as a child, and wanted to be a doctor like him, but couldn't actually get into medical school since his father very openly bashed him, his grades sucked, and he is a very odd person to talk to.

He left his childhood home as it was very hard finding any sort of job with not only the way he is, but with his father openly referring to him as being a total moron. Emil has worked plenty of odd jobs, never last at any for very long, and very accidentally came into being a 'doctor'. Emil spent his childhood reading the medical books his father left lying around, and continued the habit into adulthood. He had a lot of theoretical knowledge which was enough when you first start treating people who have zero money. No one expected quality, but Emil did at least seem to know what he was doing fairly well. And unsurprisingly, when you start doing a lot of under the table work, people suddenly start buying you things that you generally would need a medical license to own. People who are going to him know that they are taking a gamble, but Emil is cheap, and never asks about why you're hurt, and won't rat you out to the cops. He's also fine if you're a Stranger or involved in strange things. 

Emil's last official job was as a warehouse worker. Technically he is currently a secondhand shop owner, as people often pay him in objects and then he sells some of them for cash. He's in business with another man, a werewolf that he met by being a 'doctor', who handles the actual legal and operational bits of owning a store.

🌫️Relationships🌫️

Malcolm Prior - Best Friend/Coworker/Lover - Emil is well aware that Malcolm is a werewolf and doesn't care. He absolutely adores the man and feels that the it was a blessing that the two of them met. Malcolm has helped him set up his medical practice, came up with ways for him to better remember things, and most of all Malcom values him as a person. When Malcom tells him that he's smart, Emil believes it. 

Ready Ephraim Quinn - Friend/Patient - Emil can remember Ephraim's middle name, but can never quite get the man's first name. Ephraim was one of his first strange patients, and the years of knowing each other slowly turned into a friendship.

Writes notes for himself all the time. There are notes all over his house, ranging from reminders to random thoughts he didn't want to forget. Sometimes forgets he already made a note about something so he'll wind up with several copies.

Emil mostly sees Strangers or people who are involved in strange things. Once you get know for being the man who'll treat Strangers and werewolves, you don't get a lot of other types of patients.
