"Have you only approached me for idle chat? You should leave before you cause trouble for my people here."
"Hm. Odd. It seems like I have no ill effects on you. Strange. In that case, I hear that your superior likes ravens? I am more of a crow person, but I still admire them."
"I am aware of his lineage. He is no bother to me, but the attitude leaves much to be desired."
"Attractive, but I don't do well with added baggage. I have enough of my own. I hope he figures out whatever he's got going on in his head. I'll pray about it or something... No, I won't."
“While his strength is impressive, I cannot help but feel pity for what he has lost and what he has become. No point in dwelling on it, however. We have one purpose, and that is to serve Noxus.”
It seemed like despite never having discussed it, Zurran knew something about her that most did not. His eyes were obscured, but his cold stare was still felt. “It seems that darkness follows those like us.” Since their meeting, Zurran would watch her carefully whenever she was present. This was a dangerous longing that he had to ignore. He had fought so many bloody and brutal battles throughout his entire life; why was this his most challenging to face? His words were always cold and straightforward as they always were when addressing her or anyone; but beneath his helm, his hardened expression and his fierce eyes softened whenever he gazed upon her.
She knew of Zurran, and knew well of his reputation, but... Whenever she found herself near him, she felt a sort of familiarity. To hear him say this now made sense to her. "It would seem so." After their meeting, she had to do her best to stay away. She knew what followed her, and she could not tempt her heart, least she endanger him. Whenever she saw him, she had to force her gaze away. The longing she felt.. How badly she wished to indulge, but she knew she couldn't.
Zurran would say little, as the truth of his loyalty was not voluntary. “Much appreciated, Lady Masuyo. As for your next question…”
“Your loyalty to Noxus is truly inspiring to me. You are always welcome in my palace, Zurran… Just so long as you keep an eye on your subordinates, should they come along.” Masuyo paused. “You work closely with the Triferix… Tell me. Do they still mention me outside of business?”
“WE ARE DONE HERE.”
"Oh, I know you! You're that guy that lives at 123 Thiccbitch Avenue, Noxus Prime, Texas 80085!"
“Eleftheria is a dependable ally. She is strong and never strays off task. Easily, one of the stronger soldiers to work alongside me. She remains guarded, but I am guilty of such a thing myself. Perhaps that is why we work so well. … As I do with Raze and Vimal, I consider her a close colleague. I am unsure if I am worthy enough to call them my friends.”
"This empire is full of fools and despots, I am happy to say that Zurran is not one of them. I know of his curse through the olive branch and I have to say... I do not believe that it functions as intended. There is a kindness inside of him beneath the armor. I shudder to think of what would happen if a blade was to pierce it. I've sworn myself into duty by his side, the least I can do is try and be a friend."
"The Zugravescu family has much influence in Noxus, as well as beyond the country's borders. I have respect for her and her family. I do tend to prefer her company over her eccentric brother's, but that is something I keep to myself."
"One of the many Commanders of the Noxian Military. As much as certain people would like me to care more about putting my nose into stuff it doesn't belong in, I find no need to. He will continue to hold the same importance to me as he always has."
"Khadris is an enemy to Noxus. I know that wherever he is, he is spilling blood as he always has."
"I heard that the little dog was still running around over there. So obedient. I'll say I'm impressed though. He can surely put up a fight."
Zurran wanted to stay silent as he usually did, but in this moment, he supposed that he could share his thoughts. “This… This is not my scene.”
"You're always such a drag whenever you're here! I've not seen you crack a smile even once. Does my establishment really upset you that much? I thought my show would at least get a chuckle out of you. Oh well, I'll just try even harder to make you enjoy yourself here."
Zurran watched her, his gaze hidden beneath his dark helmet. It was unsurprising to hardly get a reaction out of him, but eventually he spoke, and then said nothing more before resuming his patrol. “What you seek is beyond your control.”
"The big bad soldier hides a broken mind underneath that bloodied armor. Why can I not read your thoughts? Are you afraid that I will learn your secrets? Trust me, the last thing you should do is resist. Whatever affliction you have will assist my legion greatly, I am sure of it. And on a personal note... You would make for a perfect canvas for rebirth..."
Zurran simply nodded her way respectfully. He knew her well enough as she too worked alongside the Grand General more closely than the rest of the Noxian officials. They had that in common, although they weren’t particularly close themselves in any way. “Vimal has his habits…but he does work hard. That I can assure you.”
"The Grand General sends his regards, Zurran. And on a more personal note... I know that my son is much to handle and that he can cause trouble. I never envisioned this life for him and I tried to do everything to dissuade him from the path he's on. At the very least, I am thankful that he is under your care."
Zurran held his head up, the face of his dark helm facing toward her. He respected her and her struggles, but it was true. They were enemies. “Then hope that they do not, for I am not one to be underestimated.”
"Despite just how much I loathe your kind, I know there is good in you. I know you have regrets. Despite all of this though, we are still enemies. You will not receive an ounce of mercy from me should our paths cross."
“I have no quarrel with her. I do not mind her presence as she is never a bother. She can punish my subordinates as much as she needs to. I wonder if she would be willing to send flowers to another for me... No— No. Perhaps it is best I leave it be.”
"I know Zurran well enough. He doesn't say much which I always appreciate. I've had to discipline one of his underlings before. Okay, multiple times. Hopefully he does not mind Vimal showing up with thorns in his back. I did tell him not to touch the roses!"
"Flaunt your power as much as you please. You tamper with things far more sinister than you could possibly handle. I know my place. You ought to learn yours."
"How sad it must be to know how your every day is to play out until you one day pass away. Will it be in battle, or perhaps will you get lucky and perish of old age? Though, hah, we know both know that would not be lucky for you. Spending the rest of your life unwavering from the every beckoning and whim of a nation that does not care for you is quite the punishment for a crime you did not commit. How many orders can you take before you snap? I can give you your way out, one way or another, but you must be willing to take it."
Zurran hated that this woman managed to pull things out of him that he did not want to say or realize himself. He sighed softly. "I am not worth your envy."
"I feel... hurt and heartache. I can sense just how much you feel inside. It is overwhelming and yet, I feel a sense of peace but it is not one that I enjoy. It is a peace of knowing that eventually... You will die. You will be the last to suffer in this manner, or at least... you hope. You are filled with a great acceptance of this fate, you seem to not fear it. Out of the many emotions that you radiate in great amount; fear is not one of them. I envy such a trait."
“He’s a shady man from Piltover. I do not think much of him, but he best behave when he is in my lands.”
“I have heard about the loyal commander, and have seen him a couple times in person on my trips to Noxus. Rumors say that he is born with a curse, a burden, binding him to Noxus, just to serve it for his entire miserable life. A slave to another, even if it went against his own desires. Hm. I wonder if I too suffer from such an affliction.”
"I've only heard rumors about Zurran, but I'm not the type to engage in gossip. Besides that, I've only ever been in his presence a few times, and I can say he has quite the menacing energy coming off him. That's none of my business, though!"
"You exist in constant pain too, don't you? We are alike in that. The only difference is that your soul is worth saving. Mine? Not so much. You're much better than Nahki gives you credit for, Commander.
"I met her on one campaign. She asked me so many questions and gave me so much food. I wonder how she is doing nowadays."
"I know that Noxians are not favored around here, but everyone deserves a warm fire and a hot meal, especially in this cold, don't you think? That one commander seemed so gloomy, so I gave him a little extra attention."
Zurran was used to high-stress situations, but nothing made him more tense than a question like this. “I have no time for idle chat, Mr. Vesë. Do pardon me.”
"Oh- Mr. Zurran! So glad that I caught you! I heard this rumor recently about you and a mysterious noblewoman have been seeing each other recently... Is there truth to it?"
“I know of Frances. A favorite of nobles. Too eccentric for my taste; and I know better than to speak of who is truly pulling his strings.”
"Sir Zurran is so skilled in combat. I wish to one day learn from him. I feel there is much to learn from him. If he needs his weapon and armor polished, or needs refreshments or anything cleaned of, he should not hesitate to reach out for my services."
