Lola Powers

A 35 year old woman that lived in rural London in the midst of The Great Depression, Dolores "Lola" Jo Powers was a down-on-her-luck woman trying to find work in order to prove herself to her unsupportive family. Though she did find work after being turned down job after job, her life took a very unexpected turn on her first day in.

Lola offered herself up as a test subject for a local mad scientist, and proceeded to tested an unfinished time machine on her first day on the job. In a terrible turn of events, during her time travels the machine short-circuited and died after transporting her nearly 300 years in the future, into the 2230s, viewing an idealistic Solarpunk future on Earth where humans and aliens from across the Milky Way Solar System live in harmony with each other. Stranded with no way home, to this day Lola is still working with others to try and repair the time machine she arrived in, all while trying to live in a future she doesn't belong in.

Lola is the main protagonist of a story concept I made in high school that I titled "The Curious Misadventures of Lola Powers", operating under the interesting idea of a woman from the early 20th century trying to navigate a really far out future.

More about Lola:

Her full name is Dolores Jo Powers. She's 35 years old and she's a lesbian. Lola is known among her family for being unlucky in various aspects of her life, she often seems to be unable to hold down a job, fails many projects she takes on, and she's had trouble with relationships as well. She's often negatively compared to her more successful sister, Elana, and looked down on by her family and seen as "unremarkable". 

More than anything, Lola wants to feel as though she's special and that she can achieve, or be good at anything. She wants to be a spectacle for others to behold, and because of that she's often acted out or made rash decisions to get attention from others. Lola's often fatigued, selfish and described by others as kind of bratty. She's sarcastic and dismissive, and often shows little care for matters that don't directly concern her. She isn't without care, but often acts so in a way that's become almost an emotional defense mechanism for her. Lola feels she needs to toughen up and not concern herself with anyone if she wants to earn the respect she wants.

When she's able to open up to others and shed her bitter, sarcastic shell, Lola can be quite kind, as well as witty, clever, flattering, and generous. She knows how to butter people up and get them to her good side, and her charm and pretty looks certainly help with that.

Lola is relatively open minded and can adjust well to new situations and ideas, and while adjusting to the 2230s is quite a tall thing to ask her as a woman from the mid 1930s, you'd be surprised to know how much of it she's ready to accept or be open to.

Lola has an affinity for clocks and watches, and has a small collection of them. She tried once to get a job as a dial painter, but was fired very quickly when she proved to not have the steadiest hand for painting. Her favorite food is strawberry shortcake and she loves swing music. Her voiceclaim is Ashe Wagner (Mitzi from Lackadaisy). Her birthday is March 20.
