Dexter Webb is a character on Toyhouse. She is an original character of mine - a young, eccentric scientist who struggles to make friends and tends to miss the mark with her inventions.

Appearance

Dexter is a tall, lanky young woman indigo blue hair styled into a pixie cut.

She wears oversized clouded glasses, big purple triangle shaped earrings, a white and green sailor's shirt with purple bow that has a blue gem in its middle, dark teal baggy pants with dark green suspenders and purple buckles, purple fingerless gloves, green socks, and purple sneakers.

Dexter has a somewhat large bust. Her nails are painted green, and she has a purple handkerchief always sticking out of her pants pocket.

Personality

Dexter is all around a huge klutz, always finding new ways to trip, stumble, bump, and fall around not only her workspace but her home and her city as well. She's considered a huge loser by her peers and despite her efforts to save The City, doesn't get the respect or acknowledgement she'd deserve from others. Despite ridicule she receives and the lack of respect she gets though, she's always emboldened in her endeavors with science and doesn't let things deter her from her goals.

A lover of cute things, anime, snacks, and games, Dexter has a very silly, bubbly, awkward, and bashful personality. Though she loves talking to people and is very extroverted, she always fumbles around her words and can come off as odd or even crazy to others, tending to say things that people think don't make very much sense or can't seem to understand in some way.

Dexter's adopted a few anime-isms from all her anime-watching, and will often mimic phrases she's heard in anime in conversation. She goes "kyaaa!" when she's caught off guard or if she trips on something, and yells "EHHHH???" when surprised. She mostly says "nani" instead of "what", and will use a lot of cliche phrases like "the power of friendship!"

She's cringe but she's free.

Dexter is a geek of all trades. If you think it's a "nerd" thing, she loves it, and she's a master of all sorts of art forms that can communicate that love. She plays games on both tabletop and consoles, she draws theories all over the walls about every show she's seen, she has books for many niche interests, and she's an encyclopedia of math and science.

It's often hard to tell if Dexter is unconfident or if she's overconfident. She often proudly jumps headfirst into things without forethought or hesitation even when she has no idea what she's doing. She lacks a filter and will often just say what's on her mind with her whole chest, but in other situations she can be meek and unsure around other people and might need a script to understand what she's "supposed" to say.

Dexter is rather lonely, and sadly has come to accept the fact that, to herself, she just can't make friends with people and considers herself an outcast. And though Dexter is a boundless optimist that can remain happy in even the biggest of failures, she can't push through her loneliness. Whenever someone does approach her kindly, she quickly becomes desperate to make friends with them and hold onto them.

OVERVIEW

Dexter Darcy Webb is a 22 year old scientist working out of a dying city that many in regions around it only call "The City", as its name has been lost to time and decay from the elements of nature. A worker of ambition but unimaginable amounts of clumsiness, Dexter is determined in finding some scientific solution to reverse the decay of her home city and restore it back to former state, but she often fumbles in her processes and never quite hits the mark.

Working out of a warehouse she furnished into a home/lab, Dexter often makes friends with stray cats and dogs that happen to stop by her home. Though she hasn't adopted any, she names them all and feeds them all. Living alone, she's considered an outcast by many in The City despite her efforts in trying to save it.

HISTORY

Raised by two mothers in a nearby town called Dustborough, in contrast to Hattie, Dexter grew up with almost overwhelming support from her family and was often allowed to run free and do whatever she wanted. Dexter's mothers were always extremely encouraging of her and would give her high praise in her abilities - telling how smart and creative she was and that she could do anything she put her mind to.

Emboldened, one day when she was a teenager, Dexter set off to live in The City, with one goal in mind: To save it from its own decay. She hadn't been prepared to discover the pure scope of the task at hand, though. Nor had she been prepared for how much her experiments would fail, or even make things worse. As much has her mothers had supported her, they never primed her for what would happen when she'd fail, or come to face a problem she didn't know how to solve.

Crushed by her failures, but determined to succeed and earn the respect of everyone in The City, for years Dexter has been throwing everything at the wall trying to find the key to saving The City. Eventually she caught the attention of an employee in the local comic book shop, who's name was Vincent. Though he felt her efforts would be fruitless, he couldn't bear trying to discourage her, and quickly became her first friend in The City and her #1 Supporter.

PRESENT

One day, Dexter found a witch named Hattie stranded in the alleys of The City. After hearing her and her story, Dexter became motivated to do right by someone for once and vowed to get Hattie back home any way she could. Over this time, Dexter and Hattie have become best friends, though the latter won't exactly admit it. Hattie has become Dexter's roommate, and Vincent assists in Dexter's cause to get her back home with his knowledge and research of the occult.
