Short description
The misery, unfortunate child of Alfard Kallevig. Shy, insecure, socially awkward girl whose father's mad life has always had huge impact on her. No one in Hillade city knew that Alfard had a daughter until Adam once met her in a bakery. Despite Alfard seems to have no feelings for her and never speaks to her, this sick man actually cares for Talvi a lot - even though, due to the rule of his Mission and the pact he made with his Master, it is forbbidden for him to love anyone. Alfard would love Talvi, if he could. Talvi is his second reason of unbelieveable pain, but also, his second reason to stay alive. Not because of his parenthood. The rules are simple: if Alfard kills himself, then Talvi will become another servant of Arevalte. If he will use his Tools for save Taris another time, Talvi might die.
Talvi is not a pledge of love. Alfard isn't a man who is able even to have a short time romance with someone, the circumstances of Talvi's birth are very disturbing. After Adam and Taris got married in '82, Alfard went completely mad for next 4 years and he was doing just the worst things ever possible. The mother of Talvi was a mentally sick woman who believed that she means something to Alfard, even being his victim. When she came to Alfard and showed him their child, he killed her without any hestitance, and was going to kill the baby as well, but Alfard's friend Dimitri stopped him. Quickly after that Alfard went to a psychiatric hospital and for next 7 years he tried to forget about the whole incident, but surprisingly, this man developed a strong feelings towards the child and wanted to have it back. Until this time, Talvi was living with ex-girlfriend of Silvester. Alfard came back for Talvi, realizing that he can't live with the awareness of his actions anymore and feeling that the child must always remain together with him, as she is his sin, she is the result of his madness and will always be a part of him. Talvi has a big meaning for Alfard, but he's not even close to becoming a good parent and he is aware that he will never be one, as he simply cannot. He sees her as a big part of his tragedy and deeply regret bringing her to life, but she is still very precious for him. Just like Taris is. There is time when Alfard has to pick between Taris and Talvi - and it really drives him to despair.
When the story begins, 11 years old Talvi keeps travelling with Alfard and his two friends, Dimitri and Silvester, and tries to help them with the Master's mission, not even fully aware of what is it and who is Arevalte. Because of the curse, Alfard can't speak a word to her, so they communicate by writing - and she always collects all the papers with their dialogues. She has very little knowledge about the world and often thinks she lives in her father's fairytale, being highly influenced by his weird writings, poetry and music he composes. Talvi wishes to get know more about him, but he's still a mystery for her and prefers when she doesn't get close to his stuff. She is fascinated by him - and his mad love for Taris Froiland. She tends to romanticize it, thinks that Alfard's sacrifice for her is incredible, but also secretly considers that Taris herself should finally discovers the truth about WHAT Alfard had done for her. Three times. When Talvi finally meets the Froilands, the family that her father became heavily obsessed by, and she has an opportunity to get closer to them, she is absolutely intimidated - and also develops some kind of crush on Taris herself.

Personality

Talvi seems to be shy and timid, but really likes to meet new people, even though she is often awkward around them. She doesn't know how to behave in front of strangers and has tendency to mixing up the words; she probably has some minor speech defect. She's gentle, fragile and usually doesn't talk much, unless she really wishes for it, or she gets very curious. Has some lack in general knowledge, due to the fact she had never attended any school, neither had a teacher. For a long time Talvi used to live her father's life, fascinated by every part of his Mission, by the people from Hillade he was often writing about, by his obsessive yet platonic love for the mysterious black haired woman and his endless suffering; at some point she even used to think that he just made all these things up and all the people are his creations. After Talvi managed to discover more about her father's story and the Mission, she is even more devoted to it herself, heavily idealising Taris, perceiving it in her own very alfard-ish way. The fact that Alfard decides to use his Wheel to help Taris and "hide" her crime from the whole world is the most beautiful evidence of love in Talvi's eyes - and she's not really aware that it could bring her death. Because, yes, using Arevalte's Wheel for the THIRD time just to save a beloved person can cause Talvi Irisa's death. But is it really the truth?

Talvi is very fascinated by the Froilands and likes to think that her father does all the horrible things just for helping them. Sometimes she tends to romanticize Alfard's feelings for Taris and think that is the pure true love (while it's actually a sick obsession). When she makes contact with Adam and reveals him WHO is her father, she becomes quite attached to him, even though she feels it's something forbidden. She always feels like this whenever she gets an opportunity to meet one of this family's member, but she is highly intrigued by them. While they feel deeply sorry for her and want to help her, Talvi for long time refuses and avoids direct contact with them, yet she still keeps stalking them and staring at them from the distance, just like her father used to do for many, many years. Talvi hopes that her father will save Taris and make her innocent again, it doesn't matter for her if she's actually guilty of someone's death. She sees her as a holy perfect being, a goddess, even - well, until she spends some time with Taris herself, seeing that she is more humane than she thought. Talvi slowly opens up to her and reveals her the truth about Alfard's role in her life, finally giving her the answers WHY she never was punished for the crimes she actually committed. Talvi feels like Taris should be aware of Alfard's actions and his love for her, despite that on the other hand she feels like she commits such a horrible sin.

In December '97, after Alfard finished his Mission and decided to use the Wheel for Taris for the third time, it was still not 100% sure if it will bring any consequences for Talvi, as it wasn't clear if the bond between the Servant and Master finally disappeared. Talvi starts to feel really bad, like she is constantely sick, faints everytime and lives in pain for another five months. Alfard starts to believe that finishing the Mission didn't completely ended their bond because Arevalte still needs time to "consume" the given Energy, so he is sure that now Talvi slowly dies. Talvi discovers that using the Wheel didn't help Taris much, because just three months after the accusations stopped, she started to be accused of ANOTHER crime, as someone found a dead body on the Froilands' estate. Talvi tells it to her father, secretly wishing if he maybe could use the Wheel another time, but it's only a sign for Alfard that there is just only thing he can do now - only for Talvi. Believing that it will save her from death, Alfard decides to end his own life. If he'll do it, Talvi will become another Servant of Arevalte, but the Mission is over anyway and Arevalte doesn't need a Servant anymore, Talvi won't have to collect the Energy for him. It'll be just the bond between the Master and Servant, the slowly expiring bond that Talvi will "inherite". In May '98 Alfard commits suicide in front of Talvi's eyes. Talvi is now free from the consequences of him breaking up the rules of his pact. But she will never stop hearing the Voice. Is the curse even going to end?

After all these events Talvi gets taken in by the Froilands who insist on adopting her.

Relations

Alfard - Her father. She has no idea about his real feelings to her and thinks he doesn't care about her, because he treats her very harshly and doesn't speak to her. Talvi would love to hear a single word from him, unfortunately he can't communicate with her due to his contract with Master. If he'll do that, she may die. They communicate by writing messages. Even though - she accepts it and doesn't blame him for anything. She even knows that he's a murderer, but doesn't think about him as a cruel monster, she has a very disturbed image of him and tends to idealize him in her own way. She's very curious about him and his story and would like to know more about him and his relations with people of Hillade. Secretly feel pity for him and even feels bad about his love to Taris, thinking that he deserves to be at least appreciated by her. When she starts to understand what is the real reason of Alfard's despair and realizes that is was not just because of one-sided love, her own feelings become even more twisted, but she never develops a hatred - neither towards Alfard, Taris or even Arevalte. Talvi sometimes might be quite afraid of her father, but knows that he won't hurt her and she always has a feeling that she can't completely leave him... While Alfard is aware that the best for Talvi would be just finally disappear from his life. And at some point he just wishes that he could let her go. Talvi, despite being aware of that her father used to kill people for his Mission, never sees her father as a horrible and cruel person.

Silvester and Dimitri - Alfard's friends, or rather, the comrades of his misery; they travel with them and try to care about Talvi (not always in a good way). Silvester usually treats her coldly, Dimitri is more protective and more willing to tell her some forbidden facts about her father.

Adam - For years Adam was completely unaware that Alfard had a daughter. Adam is the first stranger that Talvi gets closer to; he tries to help her when she wanders alone through the city. She really wants to know him better and is very fascinated by his family, due to the fact she found some weird notes about them in her father's notebooks. Maybe she secretly wishes for having a father like him. He feels bad about her and lets her stay in his brother's house for a while. He really cares about her fate and worries about her, because her life with Alfard seems to be very hard. After Talvi meets Taris and reveals a big part of Alfard's secret, telling her WHY she never got punished for her crimes, Adam is quite angry at this girl, but he knows that it just had to be told. After Alfard's suicide, she's gonna live with him and Taris, but she'll never accept the Froilands as her new family. Talvi sees Taris in a way that somehow resembles Alfard's vision, she might be not a heavenly goddess for her, but she's still something holy-cursed belonging to her father's mad world and Talvi will never thinks of her as her mother figure. Same with Adam, who really wouldn't mind becoming her adoptive father.

Alva - Talvi is the second person after Taris who Alva is respecting, has a small obsession about her and enjoys spending time with her. Alva acts surprisingly nicely arounds her, but it's visible that SHE is the more influential/dominant person in this relationship, even though Talvi is nearly 5 years older than her (Talvi is very shy and feels intimidated while being close to this family members). Alva is happy when Talvi gets "adopted" by her parents and she's not even jealous THAT MUCH about her spending some time with Taris. Talvi seems to be quite caring about Alva, but it's more like she feels the constant need of being thankful to the Froilands for taking her in. However, these two would absolutely hate if someone called them "sisters".

Adrianna - Talvi has rather neutral relations with Adrianna, but it's noticeable that Adrianna is quite afraid of Talvi and doesn't fully understand why her parents want to adopt this girl. Both of the Froilands' daughters don't know who Talvi really is and aren't aware of her story, so it's quite weird for them. Adrianna even starts to act a bit mean for Talvi while she goes through her rebellious phase, trying to stop her family from moving out abroad, but when she sees it just doesn't work and they will move out anyway, she is ashamed of her actions and feels sorry for Talvi.

Taris - after Taris discovers her whole story, she is very touched and feels bad for Talvi. Talvi shares a secret with her and tells about her father's sacrifice for her, however, she never states THE WORST facts (the curse, killing people for Arevalte etc). After Alfard commits suicide, Taris lets Talvi live in their house and wants to be a mother-like figure for her. She even feels obliged to take care of her when she gets the informations about all the things that Alfard has done for her. She tries to help her break the curse and release herself from Arevalte (as the bond between them was somehow "inherited" from Alfard in the moment of his death). In the end she turns out to be the one who can save her from tragic fate. Talvi never sees Taris as someone who could be a parental figure for her, she has a platonic crush on her and interacting with this woman is very problematic for her.

Other info

- The design with braid and dark blue dress is assigned to 11 yrs old Talvi who still lives with Alfard; the one with buns and teal dress is assigned to 12+ yrs old Talvi who lives with the Froilands.
- Talvi Irisa is not only a reference to Tarisa, but as Alfard implies, it also includes a date of 4th February in it (TalVI Irisa), the day of Alfard and Taris' first meeting.
-  Alfard composed only one song that actually sounds happy - and it was composed for her. The title of it is The Winter Rainbow, which is a reference to Talvi's name, as talvi means winter in Finnish and iris refers to rainbow.
- She collects all the messages from her father and when she loses some of them, she becomes really sad. Even though she knows he doesn't like her at all, these are very important for her.
- She dislikes cheesecake and Taris can't understand why she refuses to eat it with her. Actually it's always hard to force Talvi to eat something, especially in the Froilands' house.
- After she gets adopted by the Froilands, she tries to compose her own songs or play her father's, but she's really not good at it. She turns out to be much better at writing.
- After moving out with the new family, Talvi gets homeschooled and tries her best while she is able to stay focused on learning, but obviously, she falls behind children her age due to the fact she had never been educated.
- Talvi around 13-14 will admit for a crime she didn't commit and will end up in reformatory. The crime is actually... Alva murdering her horrible grandma. When people start to suspect that someone from this family killed the old lady, Talvi openly admits to it, wanting to save Alva from consequences.
- She's the only one character from all of these who appears in the Froilands' story who actually will get a happy end, sort of.
