Kanaya lives a nomadic life now. She is on the hunt for her twin brother who she has been separated from for many years. She follows any and all possible leads she can find but thus far has had no luck finding him. She travels to almost every corner of Aurora Land but there are a few places she avoids; the coastline due to her fear of water and Stardust's Doom as the cold climate causes her immense pain in her prosthetic legs.

When she is in the area, Kanaya will visit her large family or her good friends. She hides her desperation behind drinking and partying.

Kanaya was born and raised in Rose Village, a Gravity Kamishiba raised alongside her twin brother by their mother while their father was off romantically pursuing other kamishibas. They lived a peaceful and happy life, they weren't the most well liked Kamishibas in the village but they had each other and that's all the needed at the end of the day. Her Twin, skilled in herbs and healing, worked as one of the few doctors in the village while Kanaya was a hunter, bringing back all kinds of 'exotic' meats for the Kamishibas who didn't wish to hunt while also finding rare herbs for her brother. But peace can never last, it wouldn't make for much of an origin story now would it. We all know the story of Rose Village and its destruction by Lopdiemis. Kanaya was there that fateful night. And so was her twin brother. They were cornered in their shared house, no way to leave without being spotted by the Lopdiemis. So Kanaya sacrificed herself, she forced her brother to flee along with the other survivors. He protested, wanting to stay with her, arguing that he could help, that he could heal her. But they both knew Kanaya wouldn't get a chance for healing once the fight started. She was the only one with any combat training out of the two of them, the only one who stood any sliver of a chance. Reluctantly, her twin agreed to her suicidal plan. Kanaya charged out of their house, making as much noise as possible to draw the attention of the Lop and then lure it into following her away from the house so her twin could escape down the mountain. It worked. As the Lop began to close in on her, she caught a glimpse of her brother managing to flee. It would be the last time she ever saw him but she felt relief that he would survive as the Lop caught her by her front leg. She was hoisted into the air, shaken around by the Lop and then tossed into a building which immediately collapsed on her. However the universe would not let her pass into the next life, not just yet. The collapse had not managed to kill her, only knock her unconscious. When the Lopdiemis finally left the village, stained with their Haze and no longer reminiscent of the beautiful village she grew up in, the scavengers moved. They picked around the corpse of the village like vultures overturning bones that had already been picked clean. There was little of value in the village for them to find, they had not been wealthy before the attack and any Kamishiba who were left were dead. But not Kanaya. Her gravity items were lost but she clung stubbornly to life. The scavengers found her, shocked when the half dead Kami snapped at them fiercely despite her front leg missing. She was chained and caged, ready to be sold to the highest bidder. The scavengers would later need to muzzle her after she ripped the ear wings from a foolish Kami who got too close. It was almost as if she was suffering with some form of Lokura, snarling, drooling and completely uncontrollable. A beast.

She was sold to an underground fighting ring, The Pit, famous for bloody and violent battles. The 'Emperor' of the ring was initially unimpressed when the scavengers tried to sell her, after all what used would a 'cripple' be to a fighting ring? Only after she tore the throat of one of her captors with a single paw. Kanaya quickly lost track of time in the arena. Fight after bloody fight, death after death with little reprieve. Barely fed most days, Kanaya fought harder and harder out of a strange kind of madness, often times tearing chunks of her opponent off and eating it while they were still alive. The crowds loved it and so the 'Emperor' started bringing out larger and tougher beasts for her to fight. Her final opponent in the Pit was a Lopdiemis. She has no idea how or why they were there or fighting her but as soon as she saw the Lopdiemis, Kanaya saw red. She fell to a level violence beyond even that of her usual 'Pit Madness'. It was the best fight that had ever been seen in the Pit and lasted for what seemed like hours. But Kanaya was only a Kamishiba, she didn't truly stand a chance against a Lopdiemis, not after it shifted into its Pure Form. Once the Lopdiemis revealed their Pure Form, the fight was as good as over. They grabbed her by back leg, slicing through flesh and bone easily. And then the fight was over. The 'Emperor' was furious, their prized fighter was down for good. Kanaya was dragged to the back rooms to be 'put down' when a stranger walked in. She never got the stranger's name but after a hushed and heated discussion with the 'Emperor', her leash was handed to the Stranger and she was once again dragged to a new life.

Kanaya went from a Prized Pit Fighter to a test subject. The Stranger who introduced herself as Quin, leader of The Answer and Kanaya's new owner. Kanaya instantly hated her. The leader was far too controlled and secretive. And cruel. Oh how Quin was cruel. She took delight in watching experiments preformed on Kanaya without any pain relief, all the while whispering her plans to Kanaya about how she will turn Kanaya into 'the most beautiful and powerful weapon against the Lopdiemis'. First her legs had to be fixed. And to do that, they forced her type to change. At first they tried just using a Heart's Desire potion but Kanaya's heart was that of a Gravity type, just like her twin. So they tried more sinister versions of the potion with liquid gold mixed it while pushing gold plated knives into the stumps of her legs. Eventually their persistence payed off, Kanaya's type unwillingly changed to Royal. Then began the process of building her new, robotic legs. It was just as painful as the process to switch her type and took twice as long. She wasn't even given time to recover before the process of 'training' and 'educating', aka glorified torture, began. Kanaya, too stubborn to die, was also too stubborn to bend to the wills of anyone. No matter what they tried, Kanaya never did what they ordered of her. The Answer was running out of ideas, all the while Kanaya was saving her strength. It all came to an explosive end one day when a foolish Kamishiba forgot to properly secure Kanaya in her chains, when the next Kamishiba came to retrieve her for her next 'training session', Kanaya ripped his throat out, allowing the old 'Pit Madness' to take over yet again. She tore through anyone who stood in her way, leaving none alive and the facility in flames behind her. She doubts that their leader, Quin, was inside the building at the time and hopes to one day have the honour of ripping the Kamishiba limb from limb. Finally free of the grasp of another, Kanaya was able to bounce back to who she once was... With some extra baggage; fear of water, nightmares and the lingering Pit Madness. Not to mention the fact her brother was not by her side. Her only goal is to regain the life she has lost, to reunite with her brother. If along the way she ruins the lives of Lops and other organised gangs... Well that's just a bit of fun now isn't it?
