Emerson remained by your side during your patient waiting. Perhaps he may have been worried after the realization of you getting yourself in the hospital would have put you in shock. With his help, you're getting familiar with your surroundings - he even gets you a cool cup of water and a snack to feel a bit better.
A few more minutes pass by and a large, redheaded man emerges from the entrance of your room. You noticed how large of man could get someone into the ER, but he appears to have a kind, light-hearted aura around him that puts you at ease. Although... you remain defensive physically, by pulling the blanket a bit higher over you.
Emerson could tell that you're feeling a bit nervous, by gently placing his hand on your shoulder for reassurance. He winks before he leaves you two for privacy.
"Don't worry, you're safe here."
About
In an alternate universe...
Emerson is a respectful individual and most of all, kind to mostly everyone. Him being a nurse gives people the sense of hospital when he's accompanying you. Despite doing what he loves, Emerson still lives through the heart-wrenching pain of losing his parents and older brother from the California fires that burnt his home down. He was fortunate enough that he was given all the money that he's wanted... but it'll never be enough to bring them back.
Espada still thinks about losing his friends after his ex-girlfriend began to spread unnecessary rumors and lies. He even feels betrayed after they decide to come back to give him nothing but ask for forgiveness soon after they found out about the loss of his family.
He finds comfort in what friendships he has with other people. More importantly, he falls in love with a café owner, who recently decided that he'd go and marry himself to another man before Emerson could confess. His heart broken once again, he finds himself sticking to his own lonesome and watch the world go by... wondering if he could find someone else.

Personality
Usually a calm and cunning person, Emerson has the unique ability to adapt among those around him, most likely in front of audiences or crowds. His relaxed and gentle countenance doesn't change, even when he is facing people who he dislikes. An educated man, he hopes that his efforts -or his death- can earn him something in the long run, even his individuality loses significance. He merely wants to help people and bring light to those who has fallen.
However, despite his capabilities, Espada much rather prefers to focus on making clothes or consulting in his office at home as a career as opposed to hanging around the hospital facilities, but Emerson will not hesitate to come if any residents call for him. This lazy-yet-enthusiastic front of his often makes him seem obfuscating to some, barring others from easily seeing through to his true potential. Even though he's lax, he's dedicated to all of his work.
At various occasions, even with his gentle attitude, he's quite the joker. There's obviously a playful, fun side to him that allows others to lower the barriers around him. He'll tell a joke or play a game with them. He'll tell a funny story or tease them. Anything to break the ice between them allows Emerson to proceed with a healthy relationship.
He likes to act rather smug whenever the other makes a mistake or stumbles on accident. Again, Emerson is playful and no way near narcissistic. The most important thing to Emerson when being with others is making sure the others are fine, if not happy.

- Emerson owns an apartment complex.
> It was given to him by one of his patients that he had taken care of, before he passed away.
> He lives in one of the duplexes. The top apartment is where he actually lives, but the bottom apartment is specifically made for two of his jobs. [He has a room specifically for his consultations but it's also set up for his tailoring office].
> At the center of the complex is a large grass area with a gazebo; it has a piano that he plays with every other morning after he comes home from his shift.
> The cost of the rent for the apartment is actually cheap; but he is very picky to who can his tenants be. - Plays piano and guitar as a hobby
- Loves to go out to eat
> He eats homecooked meals as well, but he prefers to do that whenever he has guests in his home.
> His goal is to eat at every single dine-in restaurant in the city. At his age, he's covered about 70% of the city's restaurants.
> Always needs to have room to eat least dessert, whether it be in the restaurant or somewhere else.
> One of the contracts for the tenants in his apartment is to eat with him at least once a month. (Kind of shows how much he prefers to eat with someone) - Created a super well-known food blog that's been used for years.

Emerson loves making clothes for his friends and his loved ones, and almost has a measuring tape in his pocket almost all the time. Many of the times he won't use it for its intended use. Especially when Espada gets mad at his friends, he will likely use the measuring tape and attempt to strangulate them. He's typically harmless most of the time, and could never kill anyone with a single tape.
Emerson has plenty of these measuring tapes and it's nothing different if he accidentally drops or leaves one behind. It's an important tool for anyone to use, unless it's broken or stretched out, that is.

Hope
One-sided love
In this universe, Hope is only a one-sided love. Hope appeared as a loving friend at first after he decided to comfort him when his family passed. Emerson didn't realize until the announcement of his engagement that Hope was in love with someone else. Since then, he strayed away from Hope and hasn't seen him for a long time.
Emil
Some Company
Emil is a doctor that works in the same hospital as Emerson. He's worked with Emerson's mother before she passed, not to mention he was there when during the breakup of his ex girlfriend.
Emil is there for when he's craving the desire for affection and physical comfort. But neither of them are truly in love with each other. Emil is in a similar situation, who he only had eyes for Atticus - but when he proposed to Hope, he immediately went back to Emerson for comfort.
Emil actually loves Emerson, but the man doesn't want to confess after what Emerson was going through. Instead he simply protects him and watches over him in a friends-with-benefits type relationship.
Maximille
Mentor
Maximille hired Emerson when he was very young, perhaps when he was still a college student who just graduated highschool. Emerson easily saw past his sour personality, and Max taught him how to make suits overtime. Until then, when Emerson finally graduated and became a full fledge nurse, he taught him as much as he knew so that Emerson could start his own line of suits.
Nowadays, Max is a longtime friend for Espada even at this day. He's typically the first man that he contacts for when he wants to go out to eat.
Dr. Bowe
Superior, Doctor
Doctor Bowe is the doctor he often works with nowadays. He considers Lincoln as an enigma, despite easy to get along with. And of all the nurses in the hospital, it seems like Espada is the one that he gets along with the most... or at least Emerson isn't afraid to get in his face if Bowe is needed ASAP. Despite him being the Lead Physician of the whole hospital, it almost feels like Emerson commands the whole place because of how laidback Lincoln could be.
