Profile
Frantic | Librarian of the Bunker | The Equalizer | he/him
Frantic, as the name suggests, is all over the place. Never quite here or there, Frantic emits an aura of confusion and disorganization no matter what activity he is doing. He's got a very confusing backstory and an even more confusing present. A man with ever-changing psuedonyms, Frantic knows his place in this world is very tenuous, but he can't seem to get a grip on his own self.
In the Panic Univese, Frantic is created along with the Bunker, a pocket dimension of all literature ever written. Frantic's role was to be the Librarian of this place, and Panic seemed to view him as some extension of himself. In this time, Frantic was entirely non-verbal and only existed to bring Panic books and to know the entire contents of the Bunker.
In the Post-Panic Universe, Frantic was a real person rather than a construct. Named Takato, he was one of many siblings in a large and distinguished kitsune family in Japan. While his brothers and sisters mastered the kitsune arts of trickery and disguise, Frantic was unable to keep up because he was too literal and too honest for his own good. His parents didn't know he was autistic and couldn't understand his love of literature and language, or parse his stilted and highly repetitive speech. During the War, Frantic occupied the same role he did in the Panic universe, presumably meeting Panic at least once. Afterward he fled to America to start a new life in disguise as a human with the name Tycho LaSalle.
Not long afterward, he was graced with the precense of two unusual children. The Offspring who would come to be known as Isaac and Johanna were miraculously given to him by the Equilizing Force, a mysterious cosmic entity. Frantic took it upon himself to raise the gods, but he really wasn't fit to be a father. It was lucky that even in the forms of children, Isaac and Johanna were worldy and wise and pratically invincible. Frantic was their father for ten years, after which the Offsprings sought the child gods out and brough them to their full potential.
What happened to Frantic after that? It's still somewhat of a mystery.
Frantic has a host of abilites that fluxuate depending on what context he is in. In-canon, Frantic is impervious to Normal Force. He can disguise himself as a human being. He's got an edidic memory and great spatial sense; he became the manager of a warehouse floor because he completely memorized it (and in a time without computers, that was a huge boon.) He doesn't otherwise have any kitsune powers. Out of canon, Frantic is sort of a narrator character with the power to break the fourth wall. He partners up with The Invisible Hand, who despite being invisible has all the powers of a giant hand and can write and lift things as needed.
Frantic is autistic and was my first autistic character. Infodumping is his main form of communication, echolalia being second. His SI's as I've mentioned are literature and language, as well as history and magic. He mostly stims by tinkering with small toys, by echolalia and by rocking. Frantic's signature item of clothing is the sash he wears around his waist, something he brough with him from Japan. As children, Isaac and Johanna also had sashes, but in their modern forms Isaac turned his into a tie, whereas Johanna kept using hers as a sash and in lieu of other sash-like clothing.
