Waker first met Luma when the young nurse came to the caverns as part of her graduate research into traditional medicine. Waker may be a Weaver, but her knowledge about the local flora is great, and she knows many things beyond what's good for dye making. As such, her name appeared on the list of learned locals that was given to Luma, and the young lady ended up chatting with Waker off and on. In the beginning their conversation was purely business. What was this herb? Or that one? How many things were the bark of this tree good for? What was the story behind THAT? But over time the pair branched out, and found themselves talking about... well... all KINDS of things! Waker was fascinated by Luma's stories of the wider world, having never really left the general area, and admired her new friend's quest for self improvement through knowledge. Luma could be a bit serious at times - even taciturn - but Waker found that, with enough prodding and patience, she could get her to loosen up and come out of her shell enough to actually laugh and smile and RELAX. It was clearly uncertain territory for Luma, and her first steps were stumbling, but as the months went on Waker saw her bloom into a more confidant and trusting Sima that was actually comfortable in her own skin. It made the weaver smile too. And she found herself falling head over paws in love. As the year of Luma's residence came to a close, and she gathered up the last few threads of her research, Waker approached her and haltingly asked if she could come along too.
Completely unaware that she has a half sibling on her father's side, and does not know Dresden exists. Yet.
Dresden knows about Konpieto, but since her half sister seems just about as shy as she is, Dresden figures that approaching Rez on his own is the best move. Once she gets to know HIM, she figures that he'll introduce her to Konpeito.

She doesn't want her half-brother Rez to see her quite yet! She hasn't come up with a way to introduce herself, you see, and is worried she'll make a bad impression. Never mind that following him around is weird, and very likely to make a worse impression than just going up to him like a normal Sima... She's shy!
Strange and shy, very smart and very pretty. Bertram was a guest presenter at an event hosted by his local Natural History museum when he met Dresden, and he could tell that it had taken a great deal of bravery for the nervous Sima to approach him.
Her lovely amazing fancy man - met at an event their local museum held and fell for him instantly.
Cool little friend, and very talented! Always there when Ziggy needs to talk about something, or just wants to chill. The Milcry isn't maybe his BEST friend, but they're darn close!
Crush, but Frell knows Ziggy doesn't feel the same way, and they respect that. As such, doing their best to move on, but keeping Ziggy close because they value his friendship. Guy is surprisingly deep and thoughtful underneath his blustery party-boy exterior!
Theo hasn't known Sunni all that long - she's the official 'starter' Pokemon that he received from the local professor at the official start of his journey. Even though he wasn't planning on dong any gym stuff, or entering any contests, and already HAD Fuzzy, getting a starter was 'traditional', and his parents insisted it couldn't hurt. The Quaxly can honestly be a bit much sometimes, and her constant drive to win and grow stronger has drawn Theo into entirely too many battles for his taste, but the more he gets to know her the more he finds himself appreciating he generally sweet, sunny personality. She's kinda like a younger, more violent version of Devon. With feathers on. Theo really hopes he can find an outlet for her energy other than battles, and SOONER rather than LATER.
Fuzzy showed up when Theo was four years old, and he vividly remembers being jealous. Devon was spending so much of her time with IT now, instead of with him; she wasn't following him around, or coming outside to play, or sleeping in his bed. Instead, she spent all her time curled up around this EGG, in a nest of blankets in the corner of his mother's room. Theo kept trying to get the Bidoof to come away and play with him. Kept trying to lure her away from the egg. Get her to be fun, like she used to be! But Devon kept shooing him off and making angry chittering noises. Theo then remembers his mother taking him aside and gently explaining that the egg was, in fact, a baby Pokemon, and a new part of their family. Devon was distracted because it was DEVON'S baby, and right now it needed her more than he did. He was a big boy and it was just an egg. An egg that had to be kept warm and safe. Once it hatched Devon would be her old self again, and Theo would have a new friend to play with! After that Theo was still jealous, but did his best to understand, and instead of trying to distract the Bidoof he sat with her and fed her treats and read stories to the egg to keep it company. He WAS looking forward to having a new friend. Which... is just what he got when Fuzzy hatched out!
Having grown up together Theo and Fuzzy are pretty much inseparable. They understand one another on a level that few Pokemon/Human partners ever do, and Theo more or less considers the Chespin to be his brother. His mousy, green and brown, extremely fluffy, little brother. He realizes that Fuzzy is a bit shy, and not at all confidant, so does his best to encourage Fuzzy to try new things, even when facing failure. Now that they've gone off on a journey, not having Devon - or Theo's parents - there to rely on has only made the relationship they have with each other that much more important.
Devon belongs to Theo's mother, so the Bidoof has been around for as long as Theo can remember. She looked over him as he played, comforted him when he was sad, curled up with him when he was sick and, on one memorable occasion, thoroughly TROUNCED a trio of Chewtle he had the bad luck to encounter while swimming in a pond. Theo firmly believes that she's adopted him! Indeed - having Devon around was pretty much like having two mothers. Only... one's fluffy, has buck teeth, and goes around on all fours most of the time. She even tries to groom his hair whenever he forgets to brush it in the morning! Theo thinks it's weird, occasionally annoying, but extremely endearing, and fully considers Devon to be part of the family. He's grateful to her for looking after him all these years! Whenever he visits home he's sure to bring her sweets as a gift.
As far as Devon is concerned, any child of her trainer is a child of hers. She loves Theo with all her heart, and has doted on the boy from the moment he entered the house. He's grown so much, and it does her heart good to see the confidant young human he's becoming! He takes so much after his mother....
Devon misses Theo a lot since he's set out on his journey, and wishes him nothing but the best. She knows that he and Fuzzy are together, and will take care of each other, but she still can't help but worry about them. It's... what mothers DO!
Pop-Bead (Aka Popper, Poppins, or Poppy) is Luma's everything. She sorely misses her former lover Waker, and sees much of her in the child. As such, Luma is fiercely protective of Poppy and does her best to be the perfect parent - perhaps also trying to overcompensate for her own less than perfect childhood... though she doesn't want her daughter to end up like NIGHTJAR. As such, Luma doesn't give Poppy absolutely everything she wants, though often denying the child makes her feel like a horrible person. It's... complicated.
