In times of darkness, monsters walk the earth... Well, in times of light too, actually. Get with the times! There are no such things as "monsters" in this old town, they're people, all the same. Since centuries past, the laws that humans thought kept them the only denizens of the mortal plane were broken, and races of every sort share the streets in our modern cities. Vampires, oni, dryads, scalekind, and more, all common sights at your local market, in your classes, on the TV. There will and always be troubles, but everyone lives together in peace.

Meanwhile, in the creative world, not-called monsters dominate the music scene, especially the world of rock'n'roll. Vampires use their uncanny thrall to put a secret weight to their words and elementals beguile the winds and fires for a spectacular pyrotechnics show... And in the town of South Rock a little band called Strangeh8 works to make a living, and to spread their talents as far as their collective arms can reach. They haven't hit the big time yet, but their frontman, Slice, is hopeful.

The journey to the top will be a treacherous one—but it's a hell of a wild ride.
