Dumb things you believed as a child?

If this thread is already a thing I'll delete it. I noticed I couldn't find one while trying to search it up so I thought I'd make my own!

The title is pretty self explanatory. What are some dumb things you used to believe when you were a kid? In terms of rules just don't make fun of people for stuff they thought was true in the past. We've all changed since we were children and if it's being posted the person likely doesn't believe it anymore.

I’ve seen other people mention it which made me remember it again. When I was a kid I used to watch a bunch of Creepypasta videos and most of the time I knew they were fiction. For some reason, though, one video led me to believe that Tails Doll was real and if you went in your bathroom at 12 am and turned off the lights he’d come and kill you. Kinda funny looking back now lol.

First creepypastas and that butterflies make butter I think as a kid I was judging everything by its name.

Wait almost forgot something those 3am vids where something creepy would happen at that time??

It's a story that makes me so upset, honestly. But I like convinced myself that this tiny baby kitten my mom brought home from finding outside was cursed and he would bring me doom and gloom and I cried and cried and cried to get him away. It makes my heart hurt so bad because he was crying too but just wanted someone to love him oh my God I am like starting to tear up.

I remember shakily getting up in the night because he was in this box in my room as we waited to figure out what to do with him and I peeked in and he was so happy to see me. He wanted out and to cuddle but I was so afraid some cat girl demon child was going to get me. I'm so ashamed of myself and now I'm just crying because he just wanted love ohhhmyhodddddd

I don't know how old I was (definitely REALLY young) but I thought that the turn signals in cars was the car knowing what our destination was and helping us reach our destination-

(not exactly the topic at hand but i still think it's hilarious so: when little me lost an online game, he'd report the site for malware or phishing)

After I saw the movie 'Gremlins' as a little kid I was absolutely convinced they were going to burst out of my wardrobe, I was terrified lol.

Also believed for a short while that a group of tooth fairies lived in the street light outside my house. I'd look at the light from my bedroom window and imagine the fairies dancing around the bulb. Absolutely no idea where that came from.

my cousin had me believing for the longest time in a monster called the "Gum-Gum" who lived between our playhouse and the vine-covered fence, but only came out at night. idk if he described it this way or if i just pictured it like this, but it looked sort of like a cross between a bird and an alligator. it would crawl around very quickly and low to the ground, saying 'gum-gum, gum-gum' (hence, its name) and would 'get you' if he caught you out near the playhouse once it got dark. this thing terrified me until i was embarrassingly old, probably like almost 10. i'd have nightmares about this thing and would refuse to enter our house through the back door if we got home after dark (we almost always came in through the back door, because our driveway ended pretty much right by the back door). this was one of many scary things he had me believing as a kid, under this idea that he could scare me with this stuff and then turn around and be like "but don't worry! i'll protect you!" i think he probably just wanted to feel important/special.

one of these days i'm gonna put that thing in a story or something bc it's honestly gold, lmao. i'll probably make it something zephyr told the other kids in town when he was little...

when I first got Left4Dead, I played the first campaign and I thought that was it. I was like, "that was the game?"

I didn't realize there was, like, 4-5 other campaigns, not including DLC. lol
