Rules for account-wide content warnings

Posted 5 years, 6 months ago by boylarva99

Account-wide content warnings are a great feature of this site, but lately I’ve seen many instances of them being misused. People commonly use them to tell others not to steal, copy or trace their work, which is redundant as the rules of the site already forbid art theft. I’ve also seen people use this feature to advertise their sales threads among other things. I think you’ll agree with me that neither of these examples are those of genuine content warnings and that there should be a rule against the misuse of this feature.

+1 There should be rules for profile warnings, certainly!

I only use mine for content warnings, a DNI and some minor notes! I, do however, understand reading through the entirety of my page warning can be tedious to others! I do recommend doing what @//IAN has said about the toggle setting, however, if this bothers you at all!

Content Warnings are to be used for warnings ONLY. Gore, NSFW, dark themes, neon/overly bright colors, and flashing are some examples. Content Warnings are not meant to serve as a second bio for heaven’s sake.

Things that shouldn’t be allowed on CWs:

“Donut steal my ocs grrr”

“Characters are for sale, all have to go by insert date”

“Don’t colorpick my ocs!”

Flashing images, gifs, or gore. ITS LITERALLY A CW WHY ARE YOU INCLUDING THE TRIGGERS ON SOMETHING MEANT TO WARN PEOPLE AGAINST THEM LMAO.

“My DNI list…”

“Uwu just here to say have a nice day!”

I could go on and on. If a rule about CWs has not been added to TH’s TOS, it should be added. If it has, could the admins actually do something about it because it’s getting so out of hand atp. Just tell me if your account includes gore or 18+ themes and go. The rest of the latter can be typed in your bio.

i don’t even read them anymore because they’re like seven hour long physical threats mixed with TOS and people forget to make sure their text is even readable on different themes

that being said, get rid of coding on the CW. there is no reason you need fancy text, boxes, images, etc

If you use the content warning for your rules, I am NOT reading them. Put them on your bio and I will. Sometimes I feel like I should message the people who do this to tell them they’re abusing the content warning system, because it’s all “don’t steal my characters!!”, “hai commishies oben!1!” and “pwease be nice teehee” but nothing about the flashing eyestrain profile or unfiltered gore.
