OCs whose name/pronouns people always get wrong

Show me your characters whose name and/or pronouns people always get always wrong! Because we all know that's the kind of thing that happens, be it on the website itself (esp. forum games), off-site, or even in real-life! Are some characters of yours more prone to this than others, and why/how? And how do you usually reacts when it happens?

★ North Volans

Almost all of the people I've commissioned for art of North has referred to them with he/him pronouns.

I have several masculine- and feminine-leaning characters who are intersex or identify as NB (Phanes, Arawareta, most of my vetehi) who have been misgendered at least once. I tend to be less bothered by this offsite, but it really irritates me when people consistently get a character's pronouns wrong and proceed to wave it off with some excuse like "oh, I'm just not used to using they as a singular pronoun" >:V

Seiden Seiden

Does my fursona count, even though it's my name?
People tend to really often call us "Seidan".

Chance White Thanaturgist

Chance is constantly getting misgendered. Admittedly it bugs me more when it's someone who was supposed to read their profile, because their pronouns are right there.

They also get called Chase a lot, but that's more funny to me than anything because when they first got their nickname, I kept calling them Chase too. (So I made it canon that they went by Chase at some point)

Vivie Stormeko

People say Veevee instead of Vi Vee for her a lot of the time. It doesn't really bother me much though

Israfel TenMomentsTill

He's often referred to with female pronouns. I think it might be how I pose him that gets some people confused.

Bunny_Side_Up

names? almost all of them because my way of saying them (and with that the right way) is very much a mix between english and german so.. for most people reading the names at first it probably wont sound as they think it will

for Pronounce.. mostly only Lotus, Kairo and sometimes even Misery

Luchrokt moonlit-comet

Almost all of my NB characters who use they/them get misgendered a lot, though most of the time I'm not really bothered by it [only one I've consistently corrected people on is Harley, who is strictly they/them]. Luke's constantly referred to as "he" despite always using "they", but in character and out of character it doesn't matter. Luke's a genderless space noodle. Many of my ladies have been misgendered in the past.

Nobody, absolutely nobody has ever pronounced Luchrokt's name right either. There is no canon pronunciation yet because I cannot friggin figure it out.

Cayosin and Kaylah are often mistaken for their dad and thus accidentally misgendered.

Speaking of their dad, everyone pronounces Reo as "ree-oh", when it's always been "Ray-oh".

The correct pronunciation for Citla's name is "seat-lal-mina" and people usually say it that way, but the way it's pronounced in-universe is cheetla-meena [Not to disrespect the people who have this name, it's aliens who don't know what human culture was]. Citla also gets misgendered a lot. She's a girl.

 Cam se1f-ish

Everyone uses he/him pronouns for Cam instead of they/them! I can’t blame them all that much because at first glance they do look boyish, but I stess a lot throughout not only their bio but a lot of their drawings on how they’re non-binary. Of course I don’t mind that much, as I myself don’t care if someone calls me he instead of they, but it gets to a point where I get confused if they’re even talking about Cam or not hah pwq

I’ve only had one instance when they were called a “she” and though, again, it’s no big deal, it confuses me a lot because like??? How do you look at them and think “she” unless you see them in a skirt. Cause then at least you might think they’re just a young girl but the instance was before I ever drew them in feminine clothing!

It also kind of pains me because I know they hate people misgendering them, especially when it’s with feminine terms. It makes them uncomfortable because of how they were raised, and it also makes them feel more vulnerable to creeps who are already all over them when they wear tight/revealing clothes(like mini-skirts, their favorite).

My other they/them characters haven’t been used enough, but honestly people have been better at properly gendering my ocs like Lane and Franz! It’s weird, I dunno. Guess Cam can’t be gnc without this sorta thing though.

 Jasper cryptocorvid

honestly i don't know if anybody has ever correctly gendered jasper, even though their pronouns are right there on their profile. i guess jasper is quite a typically masculine name and also the pink so i get why they might be seen as one or the other rather than neither but,,, i really wish people would pay attention to their profile more in character games and stuff. it really does annoy me more than it should .n.

i've also had people misgender skye as a he a fair bit, which i guess is just gamer stereotyping,, i don't really get that a whole bunch bc her name is very feminine but it is what it is. aaand taro is the other one who gets misgendered pretty often, but i draw him pretty feminine looking i guess? so it doesn't really bother me fhjjkds i feel like it would very much bother him tho. on the flipside, i don't think i've ever seen someone misgender powder, which kinda blows my mind a bit because he is very over the top feminine

as for getting names wrong i've lost count of the amount of times i/my sona have been called shaliry. it also gets pronounced wrong a lot; it's shall-ree but i often get shawl-rye or sha-lear-ee. alluri also often gets messed up by me sometimes; by freak chance i have a friend whose screenname is aluri and i'm constantly misspelling my own character's name because of her even though i had alluri way before i even met her.

Ace Ironheart CanineKing

ah yes, ace lionheart that uses he/ him :'^)

i mean i'm not annoyed at people who quickly looked at their profile, but people who told me that they did read it but uses he/him and now acknowledging it is. tiring.

Glienne erubeculas

lilith is the first one who comes to mind .. people usually default to she/her but .. :') lilith uses they/he

honestly pretty much every single one of my nb ocs has probably been 'sir'd or 'ma'am'd at some point. i don't entirely blame people because making assumptions can be a hard behaviour to unlearn but it's a little annoying when the pronouns are right there in the bio
