I get this with a LOT of OCs
Recently Ashas been getting misgendered a lot to my surprise, I guess she looks more masculine than I thought
Show me your characters whose name and/or pronouns people always get always wrong! Because we all know that's the kind of thing that happens, be it on the website itself (esp. forum games), off-site, or even in real-life! Are some characters of yours more prone to this than others, and why/how? And how do you usually reacts when it happens?
my sona, who shares my name, definitely gets the worst of the misspellings. irl ive been called everything from julissa to yulisia. online usually i get yelissa, and for a fic my sona appeared in one time i got yelliass which was hilarious
as for my other ocs, amilia gets called amelia a lot (which isnt that bad) and giulia has been pronounced as julia when its actually like guy-oh-lee-uh
i've had a few ppl refer to viper w/ 'he' pronouns? for some reason? i thought her purple/pink colour scheme + natural eye shadow + eyelashes made it obvious she was female 😅
I had a few people call eduard a female before, even with the masculine name, the written down gender and only using male pronouns for him 🙃
Mmm I hate people calling him a her,,, he just has long hair?? chief called and said misgendering my babies aINT IT!!!
quite a few people have thought that Clover is a guy, not that im complaining though because she is kinda intentionally androgynous looking
You have no idea how many times I've seen this guy's name as "Snail" "Snell" and "Snaill" or pronounced "Snee-all" or literally just "Snail" His name is a combination of Snail and Niall so it's pronounced Sneye-uhl.
And while I don't really mind him being called whatever pronouns, as he doesn't really have much a gender, people very quickly jump to 'she', it's not wrong, but that's not the only option!
not necessarily on here, but on tumblr where i used to rp a bit people would nearly always refer to mejara as 'he' which really irks be bc she's a trans lady and oogh it's just bad
like in the tags and everything (which u see when u reblog the damn post) i ALWAYS referred to her as 'she' so ?? idk man
Oooh man I just want to second everyone in here who went 'ppl keep using they/them for character I have explicitly gendered' xD I know it's a politeness thing, like if you don't know an OCs gender you go with neutral by default, but… if their profile states their pronouns, then using a different set of pronouns is still rude. Just- just use the one I used literally while introducing the OC to you, why is that so hard………
(This happens mostly with my weird god characters, who don't present as particularly gendered because they're weird crows or some shit, but has happened with humans too.)
