Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

NockeyNoo

tbh i've never heard this kind of music before until now, it's like electro rock meets old music, the music itself sounds unique and interesting for rock music tho, the melody sounds passable, although it's far from my vibe

L'An 1999 by François Juno (sung in French, this one is exceptional, i'm curious what someone said to this song :B )

Agent_Mace

Thought the guitar was pretty cool, but aside from that it isn't my cup of tea tbh.

Hopefully these counts but Wiping All Out from the Persona 3 Portable OST

V it’s not an anime opening, it’s the in-game fight theme💀

MotherRat

It reminds me of a school football marching band opening somehow? Like other than the rapping, but the use of horns. While not bad the song isn't for me, i've never personally been big on anime openings as a choice of song that I go out of my way to listen to. For an anime opening it does seem to be creative, the rap style is new from what openings i've heard in the past. Overall a creative little opening but not something i'd search out to listen to again!

Me when I am a little dumb and think fight theme is an anime opening 💀💀

Lowertown - Bucktooth

Nuclear-Hydrangea

Indie rock or folk (my guess for the genre) is one of the things I don't really come into but I am not against it either, since defining the indie genre is broad. The music itself gave me thoughts of nostalgia or days where you're wild and free but seeing the lyrics has a similar vibe to Pumped up kicks. Which contains more socially conscious topic in the lyrics layered with happy tunes. Though, it's just my interpretation where the song is about "guns are the problem and it ruins the fun when it starts.", still an enjoyable song.

Here's some Anarcho-Goth/Deathrock to choose from

Rivolta dell'Odio - Per chi ci ha amato (italian language) or Γενιά Του Χάους - Μαύρο Το Χρώμα Της Στέρησης (greek language)

I'll give an english language song if neither is chosen: Chain Cult - We're not Alone

BewareOfTheMenace

I like the loosen and smooth bass intro, and the post-punk-ish guitar riffs. The drumming are amazing along with the vocals. I love how the lyrics is just bringing hope that we're not alone, fits the melancholy riffs too. The video are a bit random tho, like they sing in a bar, record store, or a abandoned place. Overall, love the song

NP:

Radiohead - Idioteque

Wipers - Potential Suicide

Big L - It's Now or Never

Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot

Talking Heads - The Great Curve

AnnaDreamurr

I've heard of RadioHead, never got to try their music lol. Ok first off, LOVE the ominous vibes in the beggining, really makes you wanna know ưhat's gonna happen next, the drum beats are SUPER COOL. oh WOW, didn't expect to hear such a sweet voice! I love their high notes!! OMG THE RUNDOWN OF THE CHORUS IS SO LOVELY. I love the singer starting off with a high note and the it slowly crashing down to a lower one. The lyrics are super funky too, telling the apoclyptic-ish vibe! Really mixed well with the beat in the background. Overall, great song!

Np, AHAHAHAHAHAHAH:

Mr. Capgras Encounters a Secondhand Vanity: Tulpamancer's Prosopagnosia / Pareidolia (As Direct Result of Trauma to the Fusiform Gyrus) - Will Wood and the Tapeworms

I love this song sm, warning for screaming

MotherRat

I went with I’ll Be Gone - The Milk Carton Kids! I really like the song, it reminds me of something my parents would have listened to when I was a child, I think the band i'd most closely liken this too would be Mimicking Birds. I really like how the singing sounds, it flows very well with the guitar. The minimal use of instruments in the song really fit the vibe, adding anything else would have distracted from the 'simple elegance' of the song. Overall this is a very good and I added to some playlists!

Hands Down - The Greeting Committee

QShiina

this gives me strong melo chinese/korean drama vibes lol. although i generally like utaite songs, this personaly isnt something id listen to unless i feel rlly melo but at the same time, i feel like it's something that can grow on me the more i listen to it. though i rlly liked the solo at 2:46 and the ending!! the song is quite upbeat despite having a somewhat sad/melo lyrics?? overall i love the instrumentals, dynamic and the bridge of the song but generally not something id listen to

A Day of Mercury - THORNAPPLE

or Lord of the Flies - THORNAPPLE

cuz thornapple slaps

or Kaerou - Fujii Kaze (eng subs) cause i understand it may be hard to judge a song without being able to understand what theyre singing about lol

MotherRat

I went with Kaerou - Fujii Kaze! I like the background beat around 1min in, it's an unexpected but good change from the somber piano at the beginning. The lyrics are very good too and quite emotional, you can really hear it in the singing. It loses me a little around the 1:20sec mark, while not bad it's just not the type of singing I gravitate too. It picks back up to around 2min in to a style I more prefer. Overall not a bad song just not my personal taste!

just FINE - Daylongsigh

sugarycoated

this isn't quite the kind of music i usually listen to, and if im being like 100% honest its a little too mumbley for me to enjoy fully! i like the almost yelling in the background a lot though, and when the main vocals get a lot louder in the last minute or so. it probably isnt something i would listen to more than once but it isnt bad and i can appreciate what was put into it!

lunar gloom - F.O.E  (this one is 6 minutes long)

money - caroline rose (if you want something shorter)

Copperbeest

I listened to Money - Caroline Rose. I like it! It sounds like Mother Mother and I like the kind of reverb with it. The guitar is cool. However, around the 1:50 mark, it kinda lost me cause it’s now just random sounds and makes my brain confused. I would probably go back and listen to some of her other songs.

Landslide - Oh Wonder (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PiGt9C76U0s)

Or here’s a more chill instrumental one:

Potluck - Lena Raine (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G9eDQyynx78)
