Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Pyromander

I like it! It's got a nice chill vibe to it, and while the lyrics don't really resonate with me personally I'm sure a lot of people can relate!

(yeah I'm bad at writing a lot too lmao)

Alright next person, here's Legal Assassin from Repo! The Genetic Opera. That ending part gets me absolutely FERAL ahahahaha

Or, if you'd rather have something tamer, here's Brass Goggles by Steam Powered Giraffe

melodiemori

I went with Legal Assassin from Repo! The Genetic Opera!! So, I would like to say that this is not my kind of music by any means - as in I am incredibly picky when it comes to music that sounds like this, but that doesn't mean it's bad. My taste is just very, very specific. The beginning of the song with all the whispering wasn't my favorite, but I enjoyed it when the rest of the song started playing. However there didn't seem to be enough going on for my personal tastes! Which might sound off because it's not like there's nothing happening, or too little happening in general. I'm just picky (I don't even know if that made any sense I'm sorry lol). I really like the overall sound of it though!! I did find myself bobbing my head along to it at certain points so I definitely enjoyed it enough to say that if it came on randomly, I could listen to it and be perfectly fine! I can DEFINITELY see what you mean about the ending part. The ending part was my favorite part actually. I loooveee how his vocals sound at the ending part especially! I love vocals like that so much, I almost wish that part was longer lol! Overall it's not bad and I can definitely see why you enjoy it!!

NP: Feel free to choose between two of my favs, Chokehold - Sleep Token or Like A Villain - Bad Omens

comedy_pink

(For Chokehold) hmm… it's okay, i guess. the band has a unique tune, that's for sure, but i'm neutral with what i'm presented with

Perfection Can't Please Me or The Disaster of Passion, both from the Guilty Gear -STRIVE- ost. take your pick

MotherRat

I went with Perfection Can't Please Me, First off, love the art in the background it fits the song great! The song reminds of a punk opera if that makes sense? My favorite part of the sound is around 1:30min mark, the way she sings the "cause' I realized it" bar is quite nice. The guitar in the song, especially around 3:25min in works really well with the song- reminds me of soft metal in that part. The beat drop around the end of the song is quite interesting and I think was a good choice, it adds a fun change. While not a song i'd seek out to listen too it wasn't bad!

Mars Argo - Runaway

sugarycoated

montrovy

Went with "My Alice" - absolutely not the genre I listen to but can't deny that I love a good acoustic guitar (as well as the violin? I believe it is). His voice is also quite nice, works really well live - the lyrics themself too are quite interesting. Overall a nice song that I personally wouldn't come back to but I absolutely see the appeal for those who do like it

NP: I'm In Your Mind by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

VV Ahh nice!! I just got into them :) If you have any reccs let me know!

NockeyNoo

when the people never played beatmania game before and they heard the music, this song is the perfect example

jokes aside, i'm getting used to this kind of music, it has hip-hop vibe with horse noise, this song sounds alright to me, although it's far away from my style

Atostogos Prie Jūros by Monika (sung in Lithuanian)

JukeBokks

I listened to Meet Me at the Creek, and I must say it was a very pleasant song! I like the energy of the melody and the singing, really matches the theme of the eponymous creek. Very catchy too! I'm not a fan of country music, but this song gets my stamp of approval. Although I wonder if this is actually Bluegrass or Blues even?

Next person can choose between Love Above the Ground Floor or Bouncin' Off the Walls. Both of these songs are by Matthew Wilder, the Break My Stride guy, and I feel they are sooo underrated.

v My evil scheme of get more folks to listen to Matthew Wilder is workin 😈

sugarycoated

i picked bouncin off the walls!! i really really enjoyed that one and listened to it twice before i wrote this out! i liked the beat, its very danceable, and his voice is really cool! i enjoyed the echoiness at the start! the noises are great and im definitely gonna listen to this again

lexie liu - ganma

or

st vincent - the melting of the sun !! take ur pick!

RIBBISAUR

i listened to GANMA! it unfortunately wasn't my cup of tea, but i do like her voice and she is very cute!

i will offer one of my current favorites, musician by porter robinson!
