Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Gouramii

I am said 2000s 'kid' and even though the song may not be my style anymore, it will be forever good just by being nostalgic, I will always remember daydreaming about making animation memes about my characters to this and that alone makes it amazing to me

Kind - Ruby

sugarycoated

i thought it was really pretty! i liked the voices being very muffled and hard to hear, which sounds like an insult but it is genuinely something i enjoy in many songs

idk if its something i'd listen to again, but i enjoyed it despite that! itd be a good song to wind-down to i feel

lilac - vampillia bombs jun togawa (the video for this one features animated body horror, maggots, and human bones)

or

yapoos - dadadaism if ur not feeling up to lilac!

I chose Angel Band!
Wow, what a throwback... this reminds me of music my grandfather would play! It's super nostalgic for that reason, even if I've never actually heard it before. I don't usually listen to gospel music, but I do like the sorta upbeat tone of this (especially since I belieeve it is about dying? A very peaceful message to leave off on, I think.) Very sweet. The harmonization is so good, too!

From a Place of Love - Mili
(this song is from a video game, so if it intrigues you I advise not digging through the comments since they contain spoilers haha)

montrovy

Oh wow this is interesting!! I really love how soft it is - the instrumental compliments the vocals so well (and the lyrics themself are super intriguing! I especially low how it sounds with "We stick together / Family is forever"). The song has very distinct sections that are a bit more intense and I really love those parts - and I find they transition with the softer sections super well.

NP: Volt Tackle - DECO*27 ft. Miku
(yes it's pokemon x miku music)

MotherRat

What a silly little song.. while I am not into either of those fandoms so I can't comment much on either I think this is a nice fun song. While not personally for me, the autotune voice isn't my favorite I can def see how someone can enjoy this! I think if I was into either of those fandoms I'd have liked the song haha The part around 1:45 minute mark isn't bad, seems a little darker which I think works with the autotune. Overall not for me but not like awful or anything!

Untrust Us - Crystal Castles

raikufu

I was originally writing a comment for volt tackle but got sniped and I'm glad I did!! I listened to it and while it's not usually the type of music I listen to the use of instruments and rhythm was really good, the animation is def a little trippy but really well done and in a really unique style, I'm surprised I hadn't heard this earlier! The little bit of rock at the end was also unexpected! I would have probably replayed it a lot if I found the video years ago, thanks for the rec!!

NP: Cateen's Chim Chim Cheree cover

poicyss

Oh wow, that's just straight up magical lol! His fingers are so fast on that mini piano omg? And when he's making the two play together, ugh!! it's just so beautiful!!! I wish it was longer, but I understand why it isn't haha. But this was already one of my favorite Mary Poppins songs, and to hear it covered like this just fills me with childish whimsy...

It Should've Been Me - R.I.P

I listened to Fuel the Fire, but I'll be sure to check out the others if they're of a similar genre hehe! While my preferred genre is a little more intense than this, it doesn't mean that I can't enjoy bluegrass. Far from it! To start, this group does an excellent job of utilizing all of their instruments together in harmonies. There are only three of them, and I never feel like the sound weakens for it. The instrumentation is full and yet not overwhelming! AH and the vocalist, I love her voice, just a very clear and beautiful sound. I really just enjoyed the song overall, it's a good little bit of music that reminds me of being out in the middle of nowhere but in a good way. Like when you're camping or something!

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water  It's not really something I would normally recommend to people, but I found this song again and well, it kinda hit me pretty hard haha.

strange-quiet

-Live Reaction-

Oooo piano sounds v nice

vocals r nice as well

lyrics hit hard :(

that piano section ooohhhh

the vocals in this part especially they're pretty sad and intense

the ending violin aw

Overall Thoughts: Pretty decent song, could see myself writing emotional scenes to it or listening to it when I'm down. The vocals combined with the piano and violin make for a very emotional experience.

Prison Toys
