"Cruise?"
The forest was suddenly silent. Just a few seconds ago, Mazey had been racing to keep up with him. But now, the sound of his footsteps over the fallen brown leaves was completely gone.
"Cruise?" Mazey tried again, chuckling slightly to herself. She knew he was probably going to jump out from behind a bush and scare her, or something along those lines. They always fooled around in the woods, like a pair of kids after school. It brought back certain feelings of youth that were torn from the both of them.
She snapped her head to the side, having heard the slight creak of a branch. Taking a couple of cautious steps in the direction of the sound, she looked around.
"You're an idiot, I hope you know that," laughed Mazey as she scanned the area.
"I'm glad you think that."
Cruise laughed as Mazey jumped back- she probably wasn't expecting him to jump down from a tree branch just a few feet in front of her. But he lost his balance as he landed, stumbling backwards with a painful thud.
Cruise was on the ground laughing, not even trying to get himself up. He probably had about three pieces of rock lodged in his back, but that was ok- the whole thing was really funny to him.
"Could you get me up?" He managed to crack out, feeling a little stupid but happy. He smiled as Mazey pulled him up.
"Dear god- how did you even get up there? I didn't even see you climb or-" She fell into laughter before she could finish her sentence.
Cruise shrugged. "I have no idea, really." He shook his hair out. "I guess you're just a little blind.
That earned him a flick on the cheek.
I am so rusty that sucked- but the prompt was cute so I had to ;-;
