I'm sure many of you have seen the numbered or symboled questions that are meant to be used for character development. I've always wanted to give them a try (and maybe you have too), and this thread will give us an opportunity to! If this gets enough interest I may find more question sets that are numbered or lettered so we can have a bigger pool of questions.

★ How to Play
Written below is a set of numbered questions. The goal of this game is to pick or (or two or three) to ask of a character that belongs to the poster above you.
Initial post: Look at the above user's character gallery and select a character you're curious about. Make a post pinging the user above that included both the name of/link to the character you want to know about, then post the number/s of the question/s you want to ask!
Answering questions: Once someone posts below you and chooses a character and a question to ask, edit your post and answer the questions accordingly!

I'll have to add more rules to fit the game, but for now I'm a thread-running novice and can only think of one really important thing: remember this thread is all-age friendly. It is not categorized as mature, so please be mindful of our younger players bye avoid overly sexual answers to questions. Thank you!

For the sake of organization I'm going to ask the first poster just claim a spot and skip me!

i accidentally wrote an essay 😼

2- emotional/moral weak spots

ok i actually am not entirely sure if i understand what this one means LMAO bbbut i would say his emotional weak spot is Anything related to his art. if he got criticism on his work or his habits he'd be  normal about it outwardly, but he'd go home and freak out because hes already so harsh on himself and he doesnt typically interact with others enough to have anyone say anything negative! so its definitely a weak spot emotionally

13- what makes him flustered

everything. everything gets him flustered HAHAKF hes so bad socially... hed both get embarassed-flustered in a negative way with most social interaction and positive blushy flustered with any sort of positivity aimed at him (jun makes him go bright red Often)

15- what makes him cry

hmm this is difficult its not something ive thought much about before because hes quite stoic.... i dont know if i can even see him full on crying about the above emotional weak spot. but i think if someone he deeply valued the opinions of (his parents,, or jun....) were to express genuine disappoint in him for something. he would be brought to tears. he tries so hard reach an idea of perfection that it could mess him up. especially if it was from jun

18- something he'll never admit

the fact that hes considering quitting art entirely multiple times in his life. itd break his parents' hearts and tear down everything hes worked for for 30 years

20- what ifs/alternate timelines

he used to be an hsr oc so i guess thats like an alternate timeline lots of what ifs about his career. what if he had pursued something that wasnt creative, and hadnt had to pour all his self worth into art? what if he had tried to connect with people more, instead of isolating so much? what if he admitted to himself that he loves jun? i mean what

21- turning points

jun jun jun!!! he inserted himself right into jings life and said "im gonna make u normal now" AND ITS WORKING.... bit by bit hes drawing jing out of his shell and helping him enjoy life again (yayy happy ending to this wall of text)

being abandoned

11.Bad or petty habits

bad habits: she likes to hold on to people's clothing or bag straps when in a crowded place to make sure she doesn't get lost

15. What it takes to make them cry

leave her in a place for a long time without informing her how long or where you going then come back. She was holding her tears scared of being abandoned

8. Bad memories/experiences - His entire childhood, honestly. He was made to never feel good enough so every time he tried to please his parents by winning contests or getting best in his class for anything, he'd come home almost sick with worry that it would finally be enough to make his parents proud. He stopped doing things like spelling bees and competitions after a while.
10. Fears/phobias - Honestly haven't thought about this one! I've toyed with the idea of him being afraid of big dogs though. I know he's a cat person and doesn't really care for owning a dog at any point, maybe he got bit or something.
11. Bad or petty habits -
He chews on his hands and wrists. In my world building, his species of dragon has a nervous habit of biting at the skin between their digits on their front paws as well as the outer side of the base of their thumbs. When frustrated or anxious, Salamander idly bits at where his wrist and thumb meet. It stems from my habit of doing the same, but when bored instead of nervous. Sala has tiny scratches there from his sharp teeth.
14. Ingrained habits/forces of habit - He has a couple combat habits he never broke. He always looks up when checking a new room or area (I have died in so many video games from not doing this lmao) and is conscious of people around him. Sometimes you can tell someone's planning something bad by looking into their eyes, and that happened a lot in the war he was in - it's a survival thing for a lot of people in his world now.
20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines - The war almost turned out extremely different (and actually did for the version of him in another dimension) - had bombs fallen instead of treaties and agreements, Salamander would have been a broken and shellshocked scavenger. Think Fallout but even less of a good time for everyone involved. Merciless and with no one left, the best he could do to sate his anger and bloodlust would be to target those he felt were responsible, going after anyone in a military uniform or using military lingo. Salamander couldn't stop the end of the world, but he can at least guarantee those who fucked it up wouldn't get another chance to do more harm.

My, oh my, some goodies, lemme edit,,

11. Bad or petty habits: Overall rudeness and the way he treats people I would consider a bad, petty habit. He also tends to over indulge and go all in on things even when he really, really shouldn't (meaning, even if it's to his or anyone else's detriment). He never takes responsibility for his actions and insists on being a pain in everyone's ass. He also spits in food he doesn't like and trashes other people for their appearance (clothes, hair, body, etc. Overall rudeness like I said, lol)

17. Regrets: None, that he'll admit to or ever acknowledge anyway.

18. Things he’ll never admit: (Besides having regrets 👆) That he hates being alone and very low key suffers from abandonment anxiety due to his orphaned state.

19. People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed, and how it affected them: I don't think he has hurt or killed anyone that has affected him in any way yet. He's pretty numb to it, if you get hurt or die in 99% of cases then you probably deserved it? Strange logic but it is what it is. IF, say, his mentor/grandfather figure got hurt because of him though, well, again, he wouldn't take responsibility, he'd simply hunt down whoever did it or just live in denial the rest of his existence, make excuses, it couldn't be helped, etc.

22. People who’ve influenced him greatly: His mentor/grandfather figure, Aldo Shikoba. Aldo essentially raised him and taught him how to use his abilities and stuff and continues to serve as his mentor to this day. There's also his best friend and greatest rival, Kazuya, who he (secretly) admires and is very jealous of. Kazuya is his fight buddy and they grew up together and stuff so they're close but it's complicated. He's been a massive influence on his life as one of the reasons he wants to become more powerful-- so he can kick Kazuya's ass one day.

3 scars/painful spots: None that I can think of

11 bad or petty habits: He has a few bad habits, pacing around, talking to himself, and a bad diet. A petty one he has is pretending not to hear someone/ignoring someone when he doesn't want to talk to them.

17 regrets: I think he'd really regret not spending enough time with his late father before he passed away.

21 turning point in his life: When his schizophrenia symptoms first developed he had to drop out of college and was sent to a mental hospital for about a year before his life got (semi) back on track.

Thank you for the questions whdayhyd >:D

2 Their emotional/moral weak spots

Frank has always been kind of insecure about his moral views; He wants to believe that he is right, but he's a bit unsure himself, so that's a huge weak spot for him. Seriously, don't talk about it, he'll snap

6 Their vices (physical or emotional)

Okaayy i'm not sure if that counts but uh sugar addiction weee---
Frank loves sugar. And that would be okay, cuz a lot of people love sugar and sweets- But he eats a lot and feels really sick afterwards. Yet he keeps doing it.

9 Humiliating memories

Lolll that time he was on an important mission on a planet but there were flowers and he got so scared he couldn't do anything.

15 What it takes to make them cry

Frank doesn't tend to be emotional. At least, he doesn't express them in a usual way [except for anger]. He's often smiling, no matter the occasion, but you can still tell by the tone of his voice. Of course, he shifts in around a lot, but if he's mad or sad he tends to sound more robotic.

To make him cry? Wouldn't take a huge ton of effort if crying alone at home afterwards counts. Around other people? Yeah, it would take a lot. Like, you'd have to rlly try.

19 People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed

Frank hurt a lot of people around him. Not surprising, considering that if he's not actively angry he's probably still very passive agressive. Definitely hurt his son a lot, tho he's working on it.

Audemus pocketbrows

2, 6, 9, 15, 19?

(ahh tysm I'm so glad you enjoyed! I've put a lot of thought into this character lmao)

2) Their emotional/moral weak spots.

Ironically, for being the Didact of Necromancy, Audemus handles death terribly. Oh, if it’s some stranger, fine enough… but if it’s someone he knows and cares for, he doesn’t really know how to handle it. I’ve mentioned his best friend Brandy a few times. She passed away peacefully due to natural causes at the age of 68, one year prior to the current year in my universe. Though she’s been dead for a year, Audemus still hasn't gone through her belongings (most of which were left to him). He cannot really bring himself to go to her old apartment and clear it out.

As for moral weak spots, Audemus is generally a very moral man with an “eye for an eye” sort of mentality. This can, of course, be exploited to permit for some heinous actions as long as the offending party has committed equally heinous deeds themselves. Kai has absolutely exploited this logic to convince lawful neutral Audemus to do immoral things in the name of justice or the greater good.

12) Grudges and vendettas.

Audemus tends to quietly hold grudges and resentment in his heart after being wronged or seeing others do wrong. There are a number of politicians that have actively opposed bills that Audemus has tried to introduce to the Theracarcan congress for the benefit of Lowtown. These politicians largely exist on the opposite side of the ideological/political spectrum as Audemus, and Audemus kind of takes that personally. After all, he’s a humanitarian. That means opposing him is opposing the wellbeing of others. Nuance can sometimes be lost on this man.

He also has it out for fellow Didact Gawain Vix for being a selfish, self-centered prick.

14) Ingrained habits/forces of habit

Audemus is practically religious about locking his doors. Enter, latch door immediately. It’s rooted in nothing but paranoia and habit. He also used to bite at his nails before he started painting them, in a successful attempt to ward off fingernail-biting. He always carries around multiple knives, despite being more than perfectly able to defend himself with only his magic. These are some primary habits that I can list off the top of my head.

17) Regrets

Audemus absolutely regrets his parents death. Despite not having a good relationship with them, he never really hated them—rather, he looked down on them like they were something small, sad, and stupid. But they were his parents nonetheless, and they had their moments. Audemus doesn’t exactly regret telling Kai about his childhood, but he does regret not making it clearer to his husband that he didn’t blame his parents. Audemus holds himself responsible for his failure to communicate his thoughts clearly, more than he blames his parents’ killer.

Beyond that, Audemus also deeply regrets the harm that he has done to others in the name of the greater good. Guilt haunts him, despite him believing that the cause was justified. In retrospect he recognizes that he traumatized people and ruined lives—but it’s only after being directly confronted with the consequences of his actions that he really put his foot down and stopped allowing Kai to make use of his abilities in such a harmful way.

And, of course, Audemus regrets murdering Waylon. While he was filled with a furious vengeance at the time, he has since cooled off and recognized the atrocity in his actions. What Waylon did to his nephew Oskar was terrible, but Audemus fell victim to his own trauma and emotions and let them control his hand, and that led to an agonizing death that was not entirely deserved.

I could go on, but I won’t. Needless to say, Audemus is a man with many regrets.

22) People who've influenced them greatly

Although he had a troubled relationship with her, his half-elven mother Prisca influenced him in some capacity... whether it be her culture, dispassionate attitude or general musical talent, Audemus certainly got something out of that relationship. Then there’s Guillame Delos, who influenced how Audemus sees himself and his capacity for love. The prior Didact of Necromancy, Didact Ričards Øster, was Audemus’ mentor throughout much of his time as a student at the University of Theracarcus, and could be said to have shaped strong academic habits (though in part due to his laissez-faire attitude irritating Audemus, making him want to be better). Brandy Summer helped Audemus have some faith in humanity after having that faith broken entirely at the hands of others. His husband Kai sent him down paths that Audemus would have never otherwise traversed, for good and for ill. There are many people who have played important roles in Audemus’ life, though he may appear to be a stoic, self-built man.
