OK, this is hard to word, but the idea of this thread is for all those little questions you want a second opinion on, the kind of thing you might ask a friend. We're all friends here, aren't we? c: For example:

"What should I name my character's sword?" (Note that there's already a thread for naming characters)
"What kind of familiar should my character have?"
"I can't decide whether my character should be a bounty hunter or a pirate, what do you think?"
"I'm redesigning my character; do you think they would look better in green or red?"
"My character's world is at war with monstrous bugs. Do you think wasp monsters or cockroach monsters would be scarier?"
"Does [backstory excerpt] make sense to you?"

Make sense? This isn't the place for huge questions ("please critique my entire centuries-spanning multiverse"), though you can ask a simple question and invite people to talk to you in private about that sort of thing if they're interested.

I know this may be a bit stereotypical, but maybe due to a poor action that one of her ancestors did, her whole family is getting affected with different types of cursed? For example, your gal might have to deal with recurring nightmares and her sister could be extremely forgetful. It doesn't have to be a huge, pressing issue; it could be as simple as my suggestions! Also, it could be up to you whether your protagonist(s) decide to do something about it or not!

My first thought upon looking at both of them is an oviraptor. In general, it wouldn't be too much of a change in body structure that you'd need to completely redesign parts unless you absolutely wanted to as well I think that the bright colors would go well especially if you want to go ahead and add feathers, since they're typically shown with them, but even so, both designs would work without feathers if you choose. Just my thoughts, but a sort of 'custom' dino species would be cool too. Whichever you think would suit them better!

Nev is supposed to have a scar on her left arm + palm that is self-inflicted. I've wanted the scar to have somewhat of a memorable 'design' to it but everything I've sketched up looks too planned-out as opposed to a coincidental shape. If anyone has suggestions for how to come up with some sort of 'design' or even just designing one yourself (whoever responds) it would be a big help. <3

Self inflicted injury can be a sensitive topic for some people, so I'll spoiler my answer!!

If she started the cut on her arm and pulled down, you could have the scar follow the curvature of her arm and make a fishhook-like scar on her palm? I made a quick visual on my phone with a diagram I got off google (link). Other things to keep in mind are that with longer scars, the wound can vary in depth. So you can have certain parts of the design be thicker, and other parts tapering off. You can also look into different scar types for design inspiration? Some people are more prone to developing raised keloid scars, while other wounds can cause indented patterns. Once you've got the shape figured out, experimenting with those ideas can help make it a more memorable design!! You could also have two separate scars that welded together if you want to design something more flexible in shape? When wounds cross paths, the healed result can be pretty interesting!! I could honestly use any help developing my girl Evelyn!! My concept for her so far is that she's training to be a social worker, but has a bad history with the law and was involved in a delinquent gang as a teenager. I guess I want more ideas for her motivations and maybe some backstory suggestions? Any input helps really!!

Pinging since this is a rather late response! Just jotted down some things that came to mind. Hope it helps!

- Perhaps have someone who was a positive influence on her and helped her turn her life around. They set her on the right path. They could be a ‘guardian angel’ of sorts.

- You could dig deeper into the time when she was a teenager. What made her get involved in a gang? Was it her home life? Was she looking for acceptance/attention? Could the gang offer her a sense of purpose where nothing else quite could?

- Explore the turning points in her life.

- What made her mind up about wanting to help others by becoming a social worker?

- Her regrets in life. Does she regret some choices she made?

- What keeps her going/motivated on the daily? Does she have clients she cares deeply for? Friends/family who she’s gotten back in touch with?

First off I absolutely love his design!

I get a really friendly/loving vibe from him so maybe a school teacher or a professor at a small college. Or along the same lines he could run a nonprofit to help out disadvantaged youths or some other group/cause he feels passionate about. His outfits in his first picture also make me think part timer at an indie clothing store, a photographer or small business owner. Just based on the overall feeling he gives me I could also see him being involved in the film industry as maybe a screenwriter or director.

I'm not the best with fashion but hopefully some of that is helpful :)

For some reason I feel that her main motive for trying to take over the world is greed; maybe greed for all that is good and luxurious in the world? ~~(If that feels too serious then maybe you can alter it so that she wants to take over all the Pringles factories or something sdjgdgfd)~~

That aside, I know this isn't really motive related but I get the feeling that she's part of a crime family aha- A different motive I had was that she's just... bored and thinks that it'd be fun but idk how IC that is so feel free to ignore this if you don't like this

As for hobbies, maybe things like attending parties or shopping for clothes a lot? I feel that a more secret hobby that she had would just be.. i don't know, letting go and just watching a movie/show with a lot of pringles sdgdfg

Perhaps he could like cats, or animals in general? It'd be an interesting contrast as he's rather scary looking. Imagine him playing carefully with a kitten! It'd be adorable. Maybe he likes to play with them in a weird way, like nibbling their ears or something? It could have others believing he's trying to hurt them. I don't know why, he just doesn't seem evil. More like misunderstood. Maybe there is one kind of animal he hates or is very afraid of, so he is cuddling with cats and dogs and whatever when suddenly some bird comes flying and he gets all cold and shoves the other animals away or something to get away from it. He also looks to me like he'd pair his ramen with some cheap soda. Perhaps he has really weird tastes in food, or he eats / drinks it in weird ways? He could be scary in the "slightly off" way, so maybe he seems a bit stiff while eating his ramen or drinking his soda. He could also like old arcade games, and maybe he draws or writes on his walls or on tables in weird ways? Would leave others close to him trying to interpret it. Sorry, my imagination went wild here lol

As Ratters job is to kill mutated rats and birds, Ratter himself is exposed to a lot of mutation on the daily. Right now, he's a bit sickly looking, ribs showing through his thin fur, plus he has slightly overgrown claws and teeth. But over the course of his story, i want him to mutate more and more until his owners decide to put him down.. Any ideas for mutations?

Maybe have his fur get less and less groomed or give him bald spots, discolored areas? Maybe have his eyes turn a different color to appear more sickly?
