[4/30] Code of Conduct Discussion

Posted 7 years, 11 days ago (Edited 6 years, 9 months ago) by admin

[4/30] We have updated the Code of Conduct to reflect the new rules as discussed on this thread.

We'll be leaving this thread up to take further suggestions and feedback on the rules in the future, as well as for keeping track of our history of changes to the COC, so please let us know either via this thread, or via the ticket desk or PM if you have any thoughts or concerns.

[4/30] Major changes:

  • We will now be enforcing behavioural conduct rules: this includes locking and deleting threads or characters which are overly hostile or aggressive.
  • NSFW artwork containing characters which are described as under 18 or described as appearing under 18 (or the equivalent age of adulthood in non-human species) are now prohibited. Note that this includes gratuitous violence towards minors which is presented as sexual or fetishised.
  • NSFW now has been separated into different content filter categories - please read up and let us know if you have any suggestions for further categorisation.
  • We may add content warnings to characters or forum posts that contain sensitive or offensive content, please don't remove these unless you also revise the content.
  • Accounts which contain nothing but, or a large ratio of parody or satire characters will have their Listing privileges revoked. Hateful or insulting satire is now strictly prohibited.
  • Public blacklisting is now explicitly allowed, albeit with restrictions on tone.
  • Report trolling/baiting is now disallowed.
  • Some information was added on how to properly report a scam - unfortunately a large quantity of tickets we can't do anything with currently because we lack sufficient evidence to take action.

Users will not incur retroactive warnings or account sanctions for any changes made to the Code of Conduct, but we will be going through and removing any old content that violates the new rules.

Thank you toyhouse admins, the updates look great so far and I look forward to future updates and seeing things a little better moderated going into the future. I've been seeing so much strife going around lately and it's made me very sad, so knowing something is in the works to be done to try and counteract that is very good <3

lillywise

thank you for the additions, but could you please include that breasts should be flagged as nsfw as well? people don't seem to understand that that falls under sexual representation as well.

kavaro You could start a whole new war trying to police what are/are not considered boobs on fictional characters, especially with such a wide array of gender expression.

Imo, the nsfw rule should be left alone, breasts are not inheriantly sexual.

LatteDraws

Nice to see you guys are back and thanks for these changes! I do believe it is a step in the right direction!

@ANAHIT I am pretty sure characters that are mean/aggressive are fine! I do believe the rule means characters that exists to mock/offend a group of people in the same bane that 'hate art' aims to do so. Or created for the soul purpose as an attack on someone IRL etc.

lillywise

insyncricy i don't really care for seeing tits and female nipples in my inbox, thanks. they are a sexual organ, like it or not. i've sent in multiple tickets already that the mods have agreed with me and flagged the material as nsfw.

@anahit This rule is primarily to cover satirical or caricaturized characters which were made to specifically attack or mock other users, groups or real life people. Just making a violent and hostile character who breaks the law is fine, as long as you're not targetting anyone with it. In general if we find that your character seems to have literary basis and context as a character (i.e. is a "legitimate" character rather than a platform to comment disparagingly on other people, characters or designs) then there shouldn't be any issues. This is somewhat elaborated on in the rule itself - we'll have a think over how we can further clarify the rule, but please let us know if you have any specific suggestions.

@alphatabris I believe we'll be trying to take a more educational than disciplinary approach with regards to slurs as I think most transgressions are out of ignorance rather than malice. If you file tickets with the characters in question, we'll place a visible content warning on the character's page then contact the users personally for you to let them know the words are derogatory language - they'll then be free to remove the warning if they also take care to remove the slurs from the offending content.

We've added a section on Slurs and Offensive Content which I hope addresses the matter.

kavaro can we censor male nipples too?

lillywise

Rumiiya are male nipples a sexual organ? no, they are not. and i'm not going to plead my case here, it's not going to change my mind on what i DON'T want to see in my inbox. i have nsfw flagged for a reason. :'^)

insyncricy

Rumiiya I actually feel like this would be fair. For one thing, I don't like seeing male nipples on my feed. :P

lillywise

Hiyame thank you! i have the filter on for a reason LOL, i don't want to see tits in my face. why have the filter if i can't hide what is questionable on the site- it defeats the point of having a nsfw filter at all

Pinky

men can't walk into the job with their shirt off or open with their chest exposed either so if "what is appropriate to wear to work" is the criteria for what is marked nsfw then really both should be against the rules!

idc much about seeing nips but if i'm not allowed to see lady ones then i dont wanna see men ones either! keep it equal ya know

Ridaine

Well I mean they're the same as women's in a sexual context but women's are actually used to feed babies... I mean by rights boobs are about as sexual as adam apples on men so.....

Just sayn
