[4/30] Code of Conduct Discussion

Posted 7 years, 11 days ago (Edited 6 years, 9 months ago) by admin

[4/30] We have updated the Code of Conduct to reflect the new rules as discussed on this thread.

We'll be leaving this thread up to take further suggestions and feedback on the rules in the future, as well as for keeping track of our history of changes to the COC, so please let us know either via this thread, or via the ticket desk or PM if you have any thoughts or concerns.

[4/30] Major changes:

  • We will now be enforcing behavioural conduct rules: this includes locking and deleting threads or characters which are overly hostile or aggressive.
  • NSFW artwork containing characters which are described as under 18 or described as appearing under 18 (or the equivalent age of adulthood in non-human species) are now prohibited. Note that this includes gratuitous violence towards minors which is presented as sexual or fetishised.
  • NSFW now has been separated into different content filter categories - please read up and let us know if you have any suggestions for further categorisation.
  • We may add content warnings to characters or forum posts that contain sensitive or offensive content, please don't remove these unless you also revise the content.
  • Accounts which contain nothing but, or a large ratio of parody or satire characters will have their Listing privileges revoked. Hateful or insulting satire is now strictly prohibited.
  • Public blacklisting is now explicitly allowed, albeit with restrictions on tone.
  • Report trolling/baiting is now disallowed.
  • Some information was added on how to properly report a scam - unfortunately a large quantity of tickets we can't do anything with currently because we lack sufficient evidence to take action.

Users will not incur retroactive warnings or account sanctions for any changes made to the Code of Conduct, but we will be going through and removing any old content that violates the new rules.

I think the new filter system is a nice compromise for all!

Falu It is probably because it is considered Child Pornography and therefore illegal in some countries to depict these things even fictionally. And in other places it tends to be a legal -grey- zone.

"Personally, unrelated to gore, I think tagging nipples is a bit much, but I can see how someone may be uncomfortable by it. That also should fall under the user themself to police the content they see in their inbox, not up to every individual user to have to worry about"

aomaoe I second this.

As now although I appreciate the quick changes, I'm looking through my artwork and feeling extremely tired to have to tag every single mermaid I own. I am not the one who has a problem with such content and I feel like it kind of sucks I guess to have to be the one to work hard in order to please other people's idea's of sexual things?? I would really like to be able to just tag my entire account as mildly nsfw so people who are uncomfortable don't have to look at my account u_u

Falu I think this was discussed earlier in the thread, but under the new rules, simply talking about underage characters having sex isn't prohibited - for example if it's part of their history then you're free to make references to it. It's pornographic content involving underage characters that will have to be kept offsite. That is to say: underage characters or ships will not be removed unless your gallery or description literally contains child porn (written or drawn)For more specifics, you can read more about the definition of child pornography according to Australian law here.

Specific fictional scenarios or content (for example, abusive or pedophilic relationships) may have content warnings added to them by administrators if they're high in visibility (i.e. set to Listed and at the top of the Popular Characters page) so no one is taken off guard by the content, but I don't think anyone would have an issue with a mutually consensual romantic relationship between two underage characters so I find it doubtful we'd act in a case like that barring some other factor...? Sorry if this doesn't answer your question - please let me know if you have further queries and I'll do my best to answer them or have a look at if I can clarify the rules. If you have specific examples you want to run by me feel free to hit me up in private o/

Sooo I have to tag my male anthros as NSFW if they appear to be topless ?  (like this one ?)
Is this only when nipples are drawn, or would any fully nude anthro (with no genitals and no nipples) be considered NSFW ?

Like, is this considered to be NSFW ? Or this female ?

aomaoe

Seiden From what I've gathered, it pertains to nipples themselves! Without them being drawn, it's a grey area-- but I wouldn't consider it worthy of a NSFW filter. (Just look at dolls, barbie dolls in specific.. they don't have nipples and they're made for children.) It sorta falls into a limbo.. but I wanna say it's a case-by-case scenario.

I don't get how people can be against the new tagging rules tbh? It takes only a little bit of effort now to not make other people uncomfortable / get them in trouble with their boss. I'm glad you're open minded about what should be censored and what not and for example on the subject of bare chests I totally agree but not every environment thinks like that. It's not always safe to have someone look over your shoulder and sees nipples.

On a related note tho I think there's a category missing, like something for otherwise possibly upsetting content that doesn't necessarily involve nudity. (Since I have a character like that: for example drugs or needles or such.)

It would also be nice to be able to have a whole character tagged as nsfw in whatever way.

Seiden

Thanks for replying !
Then I have to tag pics with nipples, but the other ones are fine.
Seems a bit dull to me but well, that's how rules works :D

I personaly don't get the "I don't want troubles with my boss" thing. You won't have trouble because there's a drawn topless male mermaid on your screen, you're going to have trouble because you're playing at work. Maybe you just shouldn't visit ToyHouse during working hours.

Seiden I do believe NSFW can pertain to households as well (or school if maybe your at the library browsing the internet on your free time). I agree nipples are not sexual in any way shape or form, but there are still 13-18 year olds on this site prone to getting in trouble should their parents check their screen with a bare chest expose. Sure not all parents are like that, but given it is out there I do believe it is considerate to keep those people in mind.

That said... I would defiantly enjoy it for when 'nipples' are acceptable to view in public spaces without brow raises and so conversations like these aren't even a debate xD!

Falu

@artyrambles this isn't an issue if people only had one or two topless characters, however for many we have thousands of pictures of things that may be considered something that must be tagged and it becomes extremely chore-some to go through them all? Especially because you do have to pick and choose which is what and how many tags they must need? I would feel much better being able to tag my entire account so that there is compromise for both people who do not want to see such content, and for the workload I have energy to do myself.

Falu ye tagging a whole account is a good idea, I never said anything against that. There are some things that should be expanded about the new system. But  as it is, it's already a huge step into the right direction.

@exosomniac I answered a previous question while using a similar example when it comes to gore- I think the flag would pertain to more heavy gore.. whereas bloody noses, black eyes and general injuries (that aren't super super heavy or fatal) wouldn't really fall under the "gore" tag unless it's.. excessive/excessively bloody?? If that makes sense.
